Customers who sign up to a new Optus $69 SIM only plan in store at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne during the offer period will also be eligible to purchase a Google Pixel 8 Pro 128GB device with a $1699 discount applied upfront to the cost of the device at point-of-sale. Device must be purchased at the same time the plan is taken out. Limit of 1 per service, up to a max of 5 per customer. Not available to TechFund and Fleet customers.       • Yeah, that's what she said that I have to jump on a chat after 12m and ask for a new deal. I could have been more persistent, that's for sure, but at the same time I was kind of happy to get the 50% off. My intension was just to get the phone like many others and this way I'm getting the phone + plan for the price of a termination fee (at least for the first 12months). Not too bad

        • so you are getting the discount during contract. NOT after the end of the contract

    • Sadly if it was me I would just terminate if they don't offer 50% off the whole contract

      • Even if I only get the 1 year at 50% it still gives me the coming year to save the $400 to terminate in 12 mths. That's still a massive win versus forking out $800 now.

        • Not sure how people got counter offer for the 2 years.

          Also if I port while my service is suspended I can't get the termination fee pdf from the app. Should just reactivate and see how I go? But more charges if I resume….

          Perhaps I straight away ask for cancellation see what offer they give me before I decide to move

        • Btw mate, I tried porting out when I'm suspended on Optus number, it doesn't work porting fails. Saying number is not issued on new provider end. You need to resume the service from Optus THEN you can port out

          The number has to be active at the time of porting

    Sold my old Pixel 7 Pro for $700

    $400 credit from buying the Pixel 7 last year netted me a Stand 2, Pro Case and Pixel buds pro. All for Net of $93.50 :)

  • Hey guys if Optus service is on suspension. Can you port out and expect a text to be received on the sim if you are suspended?

      • Ok thanks that's pretty lame so I need to re-activate my service then port out. I will wait for my Boost sim to arrive to do it then.

        Aldi mobile sim takes too long more than day. Boost pretty much within 10 mins

        • Not sure if you'll need SMS confirmation to port out, best to call Optus and check.

          • @CodeXD: this is initated by the carrier you are porting to. Aldi and Boost requires sending a SMS to your existing number.

            So the only way to get that SMS code confirmation is to reactivate your Optus SIM. And if you want to shorten the amount of time to port. Do it with Boost (Telstra) or Vodafone (the big carriers), Aldi takes 24 hours in my experience.

    TLDR: when I opened this optus account they did 2 enquiries to my credit score, 1 for my new account which is fine but they did another enquiry for an old account that finished 4 years ago.

      Optus put my own name down as my employer in the credit check. I later saw this in Equifax's documents so submitted a change of info request.

      Exactly what I was going to post, I'm also using the google store as a bit of a guide, but yeah very strange.

      • lol funny, I noticed it was pulled as well, was checking regularly for nearby stock as an indicator for when mine might arrive

        I wonder if it was taken down because of Black Friday deals?

          Strange it was only that specific colour… And that just happens to be (according to my HN store), "the only one" they're waiting on. I hope that's not a bad sign lol

    Called Auburn Flagstore this morning and they said stock came in last night and I went in and finally picked up my Pixel 8 Pro Bay 256gb today. Hopefully everyone will get their ones soon.

    Called Preston, they still have no stock of the Bay 256GB, but have Obsidian. Still no ETA on the blue colour, which is now a matter of principle that I must have :/

    Since HN pulled the Bay 256GB off their website I've been checking the Google Store for updates.

    It used to say "Delivers 30 Nov – 1 Dec" but now just says "Out of Stock - Join Waiting List" 😣

    I don't know if that's a good or bad thing if they've just shipped out all the back orders or they've come to the realization there is supply chain issue (or both).

    One can only speculate.

      Yeah saw that as well… My local HN reckons hopefully end of the month, I mean it basically is end of the month now, if it's not this week then I'll have to chase up again, apparently if they still don't see it by early Dec, they'll have a word with their supplier. By then it'll be 2 months of waiting.

        Called my local last Thursday evening and was told "we finally have an order in place, and they should hopefully arrive mid to late next week"

        But who really knows. I was told at the start of October it would be the end of the month, and now it's another month later

          Yep, at this point I'm just waiting for the Bay simply because I've already waited this long. In too deep to switch colours haha

    • Adding to the speculation, I checked the US Google store, and they are estimating delivery Dec 20-21 for orders today. I guess it's promising some stores received some amount of stock in the last couple of weeks, so hopefully, there will be more coming.

      I'm pretty frustrated with the wait time. I asked them about getting the 128GB version instead, and HN said they were unable to do that for Optus deal customers. I guess I just have to keep waiting.

    • Any reason you didnt just get them to drop the plan to half price? Same in the end but you get 100gb a month to use or at the very least dont have to front up the whole amount in one go.

      • Their chat is a pain to deal with. I don't really care I just put myself on $10 amaysim a year just to keep the number I got 2 other mobiles

        • Getting them to sort out their bill was hard enough they still got it wrong on usage, while the service was suspended still tried to charge me. Until I insist they credit me back
          Used 5 days charged me 12 days

          Also I can confirm while your service is suspended, porting fails

    I saw the procurement fulfilment / acknowledgement for eight P2P 256 bay @ western suburb of Melb, HN. Anticipated sometime this week. Other stores should follow suit.
    A little ray of hope for folks in waiting including me :)

    • Ha, damn just my luck! Finally gave up and went for the Obsidian over the weekend when after calling for the 100th time they told me they had no visibility until January that stock would arrive. That's HN Preston btw. Oh well, hopefully one of you get the 256GB Bay!

        However as others said, I've waited too damn long for the actual Bay so may as well keep waiting for it. I'm too deep in this 😆

        • Are you ever going to see the bay really?

          I went in the day before release and just asked the guy what colour gets me the phone quickest. He said black so i went with it and got it maybe 3 days after launch. Has been in a case ever since and i don't think i looked at it once.

        • Picked up the White cover and it looks pretty good. Asked the rep what 'he could do for me' on a case since I've been waiting over 6 weeks. Ended up getting the Google case for what he called 'staff price' for just under $30 bucks. Could be worth a try if you give up on waiting like me.

  • Got notified this morning that the P8P Bay 256 is available to order again on the Google Store. Delivery says "21 Dec – 29 Dec" for postcode 2000.

    • I personally would rather 256gb and have it in whatever colour and plonk a case. My old Huawei p40 pro was bay and the bling wore off and didn't matter with a case.

        • my mistake its not bay col but the p40 pro metalic light blue. and its even miles ahead nicer than p8pro bay. and am still using it as its the perfect size.

      People who are waiting means they're likely to have another functioning phone they're using, this deal was never really meant to be an upgrade for people who desperately needed a phone, most people are simply buying it because it was a good deal.

      Out of 3 colours to choose from, I've always went with safe colours for all my previous phones, black, silver etc, why not choose a good colour that I actually like and probably the least boring choice out of the 3?

      Also as others have said, clear case, will be the first time using one also.

      • Yeah, you've hit the nail on the head. I have a P3XL that's still working fine.
        Although it's not as fast anymore it's still doing it's job for now, so I'm not that desperate. My history of phone upgrading is every few years.

        It actually reminds me, the 128gb Clearly White version I got was pretty rare on release. HN did a stock check of 1 x at Domayne Warrawong, so did a trip from Syd to pick it up. Worth it.😂

  • Tried to swap colours from bay 256GB to a Porcelain 256GB but was told it's not possible since the order is with Optus already.

    Also found out that my order was not accepted by the system until the 1st of December.

    ETA is still a few weeks away 😔

      That statement is BS as I was offered to swap to another colour in 256GB. Go back and ask someone else.

    • If they have the phone in stock then they should be able to swap the phone but if nothing in stock then they can't do anything. Best to check the stock on HN website for your local store and once they have it then they will be able to swap it for you

      But the Optus doesn't actually see/know anything about the phone part of the deal though. HN doesn't get the phone from Optus, it wouldn't matter if the order was with optus or not?

    Got my P8P Bay 256 just now from HN Alexandia. They tried to call me on the Optus number I signed up with but because it was suspended they couldn't reach me, even though they put my main number in the notes to call me on that. Anyways, they then emailed me to say its ready.

    Looks like I'm spending this evening setting it up 😁

  • I also got mine, required a lot of following up over the past couple of months, I ended up having to call on the day and check and found out it arrived, even though I was told I'd be notified on my existing number (not the new optus number).

  • So the final cost for me for holding the contract and fiddling around with service suspension, waiting for phone and porting out for Pixel 8 Pro 256GB in Bay $937.62

    $100 for 256GB upgrade + $793.50 Termination fee + $44.12 for holding the contract in case(if HN complains not handing phone) and reactivating sim to port over (port failed first time while suspended)

    Wait time was close to 1 month from the time I signed mid October til mid Nov when I got the phone
