Anyone use a curved monitor this big ? I used to run a 30" and 27" pair , now down to a single 34" curved and that seems big enough for a curved screen. Curious as to the experiences of those using these bad boys. I had the thought if adding something like 24" flat in portrait as an addition though.

    • Regarding experience, my office has one 49 inch but without such an aggressive curve as this, causes neck strain.

Im moving up from 34 ultrawide, apart from gaming, my other use case would be to connect work laptop and personal PC side by side which avoids placing another monitor. Also the 57 inch has more vertical space than 49 inch.

      • No neck strain with my 49. And i actually suffer from neck pain!

    • 49" at home with AOC

      • Productivity its awesome. I barely alt tab. Three windows (Browser, IDE, Work Chat) with very little compromise
      • Games it's a bit of a waste and some games don't support it. Like you need a TOTL GPU to get decent frames in latest games and you don't really take advantage of peripheral stuff anyway
      • Movies it's a little annoying with black bars

Mines 1440 vertical pixels, but 1600 would be perfect (or 2160 with scaling)

Was worried about neck strain but was a non issue

IMO, 21:9 is the sweet spot if you do mixed media like me. Then maybe a standard 16:9 off on the side as a secondary monitor

If it's just work, then 32:9 for sure

using it now, form this deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/796505

it's not too much bigger than my chg90, (49inch) quality isn't hugely better for gaming. much better for text, (not as chunky) a decent amount more screen realestate. for the average consume, there really isnt much difference, a prosume, may notice it is a step up.

the biggest issue is my 7900xtx was driving the chg 90 at 100 fps on epic/maximum quality in games, this one does like 60, so really need to turn the quality down.

unsure if its worth the upgrade if you have say the neo 9, but if your getting your first large monitor, 100% deal at this price,… half tempted to go 28 degree price protection, but as you need vouchers, first time sign up news letter etc. im not sure they will price match

      • How has PayPal been for the Ozbargainers in the last few ongoing rounds of Samsung direct store refunds?

      • I also bought it on the Samsung education deal. Mine arrives tomorrow!

    Amazing price. Get it now

  • +9

    This has a 7680 x 2160 resolution compared to the 49" QD-OLED at 5120x1440.

You need a seriously godly system to drive that many pixels at a high refresh rate if you plan to do any gaming.

    • You only need a seriously godly system to drive that many pixels at a high refresh rate if you plan to do any recent AAA gaming.

There's a gazillion titles on Steam that don't need much horsepower - by far the majority of the store in fact.

      • +1

Fair point, I still think some non-AAA games might still struggle considering its essentially a dual 4K monitor in resolution.

      • You only need a seriously godly system to drive that many pixels at a high refresh rate if you plan to play any recent AAA gaming games that somehow don't have DLSS or FSR.

Seriously there is no point buying low res monitors if you can afford high res monitors. Even if you're playing at a lower res upscaling does a pretty good job and you still get the UI at the full resolution.

      • Actually, if you're using a Nvidia GPU, you won't be able to drive it at max refresh rate. They bottleneck the monitor with their DisplayPort 1.4 ports. Only the latest AMD GPUs can properly drive this.

      • And most of them won't support a 7680 x 2160 resolution. You get to play with black bars on the left and right.

    • Is it possible for one 4090 card to support both the Odyssey Neo 57" and Odyssey Ark 55" monitors at the same time in a single PC?

      • +1

No, as stated above, a 4090 can’t use 240hz at full resolution as it doesn’t have DP2.1

You also can’t use it at 120hz with any other screens, as the DSC required to run this steals bandwidth from the other ports

  • +1

A great addition to the office if you have the desk space for it - you could mount it to a arm to save desk space

    • Is there a monitor arm out there that supports this ? I can't seem to find any.

      • +2

I use this one with my 49" and it works well. Hopefully, it works with the extra weight.
        https://www.ergotron.com/en-au/products/product-details/45-6…

        • The HD pivot can't handle the additional weight due to the 1000R shifting the centre of gravity to the front. In other words, it will droop. Its been confirmed by Ergotron and they are working on a new pivot design. However you can still make it work by shoving two screws to prevent the pivot from coming down any further.

  • -1

    Thanks, brought one

Should rank me to Silver 2 with this on CSGO

    • +12

Where did you bring it from?

  • +8

As good as this price might be, Buy from any other retail store other than Samsung direct. There is zero aftersales customer service IMHO. You have been warned.

    • +1

Not zero. Maybe 0.5. They answered but didn't fix my issue

  • when does this promo (the samsung2pax and 10% off) end?

    • Buy now think later.

    • samsung@pax ends on 10th October, not sure about the 10% one.

    • Expires on 9th Oct, got this message

Game on! Your exclusive PAX voucher has been applied! Hurry, offer expires 10.09.23. Promotion applied to your order

      • Actually you're right, the voucher T&C says 10th October but for me also it says expires 10.09.23 when applied to cart.

  • +15

    Never pre-order Samsung displays.

Time and time again people have been screwed over by poor QC and then by virtually no means of getting support or refunds in an acceptable or timely manner.

Even if you're paying extra, the savings aren't worth the atrocity you will likely have to undergo if you get a bad panel. Which historically it seemed like 1 in 3 or 4 units were dodgy.

    • +1

Not hard to find people with the old Odyssey G9 that either made popping noises or had the screen just randomly crack down the middle either

      • Yeah i had preordered one and had anxiety reading about all the issues and imagining how hard it would be to return it interstate. Luckily no issues though.

    • +2

Yeah I'm still waiting for the replacement for G95NC, get this from the first shipment, at the beginning it was grey uniformity issue, weird noise from panel and now dead monitor

    • Had no issues getting mine replaced relatively quickly direct from Samsung

Fact of the matter is that there isn’t anything else with these specs and likely won’t be for years from anyone else so it’s this or nothing

    • Is this one going to come out in stores?

      • -2

Prob not unless online only the box is massive, I got this one at first launch from education store has been great all this pre order fear mungering is laughable, there is nsw fairtrading etc plus whatever other state consumer protection body if ypu had any issues.

    • Thats why I bought my Samsung 49' from a shop! If something goes wrong, I can return it easy.
I read about the poor QC so figured I wouldnt risk a shipped order.

  • What's the price for this on Samsung Edu/Corporate?

    • Also, how do I get the Samsung Members App if I don't have an android phone/tablet?

      • +2
        1. Create Samsung account on computer / phone (if you don't already have one)
        2. Download bluestacks on a computer and download the samsung app in bluestacks (Login with your google / gmail account for this). Bluestacks in an android emulator usually used for desktop gaming. See here: https://www.bluestacks.com/
        3. Login to your samsung account on the newly downloaded app on Bluestacks and you should see a prompt you'll receive 10% off on your first purchase via app.
        4. Don't forget to stack with $50 newsletter discount code before checking out. Use the same email as your samsung account to get the code.
        • Awesome, thanks!

        • I tried this and might be doing something wrong but seems impossible to install the members app on blue stacks…

          • @Shinkz: Confirmed Bluestack does not work, need to ask a friend with android

    • +1

$2719.15 in the partner store, however the T&Cs of this voucher says purchase must be made on Samsung Online Store and excludes Edu, corporate, government etc. So this way is cheaper.

  • It's like 2x 32 inch 4k screens right? Jesus.

    • I use these at work, it’s not has bad as you think.
I also run a 48inch oled at home.
The hight on the oled is worse of the two

      • What sort of work do u do that requires this type of monitor? Cool!

        • +1

          Hahaha not a requirement.
Merely have the freedom to pick whatever I want.
I constantly multitask, but find I’m eyeballing 55 inch 8k monitors as once you get used to the screen space of 2x34inch 4K screens you’ll yearn for more!
I work in technology space :)

  • +1

Any reason why these screens don't come with USB C + power? Picky I know but I like using one cable with my laptop.

    • Because you cant drive it over usb and power it at the same time 🤪 its not some low res monitor doesnt have spare bandwidth for that.

      • I use mostly for work. Guess I will stick with the Dell ultrasharp series I think they have a 48" or so inch one.

  • +1

    Hows quality of samsung monitor?
have been using dell monitor for last 10 years, service is really good
I might be still stick with my dual 3821aw for now

    • +3

      Hows quality of samsung monitor?

Objectively terrible, in terms of after sales support and quality control.

    • i bought a chg90, it needed a service call as the back light broke, (so they replaced the screen)after the service call, 1 time in 20 it wont turn on right, .. i still got this one though… hopefully it goes a bit better…

  • -2

they underpriced this imo, should be asking for 3k at least, basic numerology

  • What kind of graphics card would I need to power two of these? I am not playing any rapid gaming, just many tables of poker, so don't need speed, just need it to operate a lot of real estate, and then I need a lot of screen space for video editing in Premiere Pro (which I think is more CPU intense)

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Might be able to get away woth 1 7900xtx if set at 120hz idk though but that will be your best bet is say.

      • thanks, can't imagine i'd need more than 120hz.

      • +1

From what I’ve seen, you can’t use it in full resolution + refresh rate with other screens as it steals bandwidth from other ports to run it

        • +1

Yeah hence the 120hz comment full res and refresh is 7680x2160 240hz.

Going off the W7900 as it lists the support res should be fine

          1x7680x4320 @ 12bit 60hz uncompressed
          4x 4096x2160 @ 120hz wkth dsc

So between that most likely work as its essentially 3 x 4k monitor.

    • Thinking in dual 8K

      • Best to ask amd directly

  • No longer available? "Unfortunately, the item you’ve viewed is not available"

    • Yep out of stock now, just as I was checking out dammit

      • +1

        Phew, saved my wallet

  • I used to hesitate for a long time about whether to buy this monitor because I mostly use it for work, not gaming. In the end, I chose the Samsung 55-inch 8K TV, model QN800C. It's like having four 4K monitors, and after using it for a while, I realized this is exactly the monitor I wanted.

  • Anyone having this monitor has tried gaming at 5120x1440 on this monitor?

Is the sharpness affected noticebly? In desktop, gaming and productivity scenarios?

  • What are the chances of this dropping to $1200- $1500 in a few years?

    • 100%

      • OK! I will wait.

      • +1

No chance it will drop to less than half price, they’ll just phase it out to introduce new model.

    • 2nd hand, sure

  • This is back in stock, shipping in mid November

    • damn that's a long time away

      • Main page and delivery calendar scheduler still show October delivery date… even though the red text in checkout says November 2023!

All items in the order will ship on the pre-order shipping date: 14 Nov 2023

Hope orders don't get abruptly canceled on people again after the wait

        • I think they are making sure anyone buying it with the Samsung Shop app discount have to wait longer than those buying it from the website without the discount.

  • OOS again

  • +3

was eyeing on this monitor. Tried to install Samsung Shop to get the first 10% discount. Everything went well so far, then on the payment page, enter my details, then received an error message saying that they cannot process my payment. Then they took away my 10% off, regardless that it was my first ever order with them…

looks like it's a providential sign to stop me from buying this monitor then :D

    • gottus

    • Try reinstalling the app? Happened to me too and this seemed to have fixed it

    • Same experience… No matter what I do (uninstall, reinstall, new browser installed) that 10% has gone way even though the app proudly tells you its 10% off on your first order. Samsung rep also said they will not stack discounts. One second it was down to $2100, i was at the final stage of confirming the purchase at noticed it was back to $2399.25. Pissed off.. I WAS going to purchase it after playing with it @Pax yesterday but now I'm frustrated and even with the discount feeling like this i a sign to just leave it.

      • tbh I was surprised that Samsung lets us stack voucher codes in the first place. I never expected it to work when I tried it, especially when the T&C states that not applicable with other offers.

        • I understand, when i spoke to the agent and she told me that I accepted it fine and was going to put through the order but I lost the 10% on top when there was working through the payment options. The Samsung guys repeatedly told me at Pax that they WOULD stack and to ensure i signed up to newsletter etc to get the maximum discount.

          • @T3J: did you try the chat? Yesterday when I was on the chat with them they said they could put the order through for me if I wanted. It would probably help if you had a screenshot of the price just before payment.

    • I could be a "fix" that they rolled out to prevent stacking the 10% offer with other discount code. For the sake of $200+ difference, I will not buy this monitor :D Save me a headache for coming up with a good reason with the missus :P

  • Seems like it's still working, I got to the final screen before actually buying it

    • +1

You made it all the way to the boss then conceded defeat?

      • Haha it doesn't have USB C so I'm hesitant to get it

    • I've got to the final payment screen successfully a few times, upon payment, it returns an error message "payment failed", then sneakily removed the 10% off and increase the price from around $2100 to $2399.25

Of course I'm not gonna pay again for that cost lol :D

      • As per my comment above to T3J, worth trying the samsung chat.

        • I did, they were more than happy to refer me to another team claiming that they don't have "the deep technical expertise" to help me. Just simply asked me to send an email to onlinesupport… etc

  • +3

Hmm a bit sad no USB C port, expected many new ones to get them

  • Ordered one… can ppl post once they start getting delivery notifications?

The checkout process is confusing, the preprder is for oct 17th stock yet the checkout offered delivery as soon as next week. I selected 19th so lets see.

    • They will ignore your suggested date and ship it when they have stock.

      • They keep advertising and selling new batches when they have no stock!

Where is Samsung's Muzeeb to see our orders through.

OzBargainers keep throwing money at Samsung online sales. Great marketing budget

    • I chose 16-Oct for shipping, but it says:
      PRE-ORDER Ships from: October 17, 2023
      Preparing order
      Arrives on 16/10/2023 Delivery Service

But, the invoice actually says 28-November shipping. The status says 'awaiting dispatch' but phone rep told me it may actually only arrive on this date.

So confused, and after hearing of continued QC issues, might just cancel while I have the chance

      • thanks, mine says Awaiting dispatch.

        • Also note Samsung support likes to reference this estimated delivery times page

^has not changed the delay delivery time windows since last year (discounting the description removing the line referencing COVID-19)
