Not only is Optus the cheapest for the handset outright, but it is one of the only two options that provide a Pixel Watch 2 LTE for free with the purchase. Optus doens't seem to have the Pixel 8 Pro in 512GB - for that, I'd consider Telstra.

Google Pixel Watch 2 LTE Models Available ($649 RRP)

  • Telstra - Polished Silver Aluminium Case/Porcelain Active Band
  • Telstra - Champagne Gold Aluminium Case/Hazel Active Band
  • Optus - Matte Black Aluminium Case/Obsidian Active Band

Yep thanks a year ago :)
Got it from a deal posted here.
        My comment still stands.

        • The 7 pro was $1299 and the 8 pro is $1699.

So a big jump but not even close to double.

Yep thanks a year ago :)

Phone was released a year ago, but looks like you actually only bought it 6 months ago. Big difference from your original 'few years ago' lol

          My comment still stands.

Actually it doesn't. You got the phone 6 months after release and comparing pixel 7 pro on a deal vs pixel 8 pro RRP.

If you actually want to compare like for like - you can pay $828 and get Pixel 8 Pro + Bonus $350 Harvey Norman Gift Card (pre-order bonus) which negates your entire comment because it is on the same $69 plan lol

Hi, probably silly question, but if I were to purchase from Optus, is the phone unlocked? friend looking to buy phone here but lives in NZ

    • +1

      Yep it's unlocked

I bought Pixel 8 pro 256GB and wifi Pixel Watch 2 from JB.
    Actual price:- $1799+$549=$2348
    I paid:-
$2000 in ultimate GC's ($500x4) for $1700+$238 eftpos which comes to total $1938
And then will be receiving $550 JB GC which will bring down to $1388.
So long story short it cost me $1388 for Pixel Pro 8 256GB and Pixel watch 2 for total of $1388
Which I reckon is not that bad deal…😉
    Thanks to Ozbargain family…👍

Don't tell me you didn't use the $300 Trade in coupon

      • Didn't have eligible trade in phone.
Not all phones are eligible for trade in.

        • I bought second hand phone to get the trade bonus!

      • I was lucky. My old Pixel 4A with a cracked screen was worth $1 - so I got $301. It no longer gets software updates… and a new screen would have been over $100, so it really wasn't worth anything notable.

The watch was tempting, but I'd need another $300 for that. At $450 it feels too expensive still (to me).

    • +3

The gift card doesn't reduce the price tho…..

If it's not too late, look into the Harvey normal plan deal. If you sign up and cancel you can get both for $1288 instead of the $1938 you paid

Thanks I cancelled my Telstra order since I wanted the black watch

    • All watches matter!

  • If you have salary packing option, you can buy it from Google Store -
Upfront cost $1529 (with Unidays 10% off code)
    Salary packaging saving: 488
Possible salaray packaging membership cost: 77
    You save: 411

Then you can use the Google One 2TB plan get 10% store credits, so you get $152.9 credits, along with $400 credits, $552.9 and you can buy a Google Pixel watch 2 and get $100 credits in return.

However, compared with the Optus $99/mo deal with a cancellation cost $1188, you can save $511 for the phone plus a free Google Pixel Watch 2 LTE by handing in your personal information.

  • I chatted with some Optus reps both in store and online and was told that the Watch won’t be included if the phone is purchased outright. However the other two reps I chatted online, including the one who helped me place the order, both stated that the Watch can be claimed (later?). So right now I’m extremely confused.

    • Let me know because I've already purchased it outright too

      • +1

I’ve canceled my order just to be safe… Planning on going with Harvey or JB now :(

        • Watch was certainly included :-)

      • Online rep I spoke with yesterday, when arranging my outright purchase, said the watch would be shipped with the phone.

        • Have you screenshot conversation? I’m more worried about they would deny anything they’ve said if there’s no proof. Yesterday when I tried to cancel the order they were just upselling their plan to keep me. Sigh

          • @disaur: No, never though to do that at the time as the rep advised me about the watch without a prompt/question from me.

            • @Hobbes: Oof. Let’s how it goes…

              • @disaur: FYI - had a discussion this afternoon with online support re: my outright purchase order and they confirmed the watch is still included. Have it writing via the online chat this time too, so hopefully it will go ok.

  • What does the "Future Credits" column actually mean in OP's table?

Does JB trade-in bonus apply to the initial purchase, or is it a post purchase G?

    • The trade-in bonus is immediate (my 4A was worth $1, but I got $300 bonus = $301).

The other parts come two weeks after delivery.

I can spend $450 (Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch 2) in JB HiFi vouchers easily enough, I'll put some on Xbox credit (Game Pass), etc so it's basically just cash (for me).

    • Gift Cards/Store Credits

  • Nice!… Just got an email from Optus. "Your Optus order is on the way"

    • +1

Same. Hopefully it includes the watch!

      • Yeah it better, the rep I spoke to said it would… Though he also said the order wouldn't be shipping until tomorrow :\

    • My purchase was for phone+watch (outright)
Was stated when purchasing, kept logs.

The redeeming on the web seems to be for Telstra, all indications I've had are that the watch and phone will come packaged together for Optus.

  • Outright OOS apparently

  • +1

Yeah Optus all gone for outright. Can still pre order on a Optus plan though.

    • yeah, i got same answer

  • Doesn't make much sense that they are out of stock for outright (same stock), but this deal has expired.

It'll be interesting to see the next set (non pre-order) deals.

  • +2

Tried tracking the optus order through the link they've given and nothing is found.
Putting the order number at the following URL shows the package, and looks like it will arrive today.

It has arrived. Can confirm watch is in box and no redemption is required.

      • Mines also just arrived with the watch

        • Me too.

          • @Hobbes: Now I'm annoyed cause I've scanned the QR code but it's been connecting on my Pixel 6 for the longest time.

      • +1

Great, congrats! Now I hate the reps who misinformed me about the outright option to upsell me the plan.

        • +1

That sucks! A sale is a sale to them. Did you keep the logs? If you did (or complain) you should be able to terminate the contract.

Funnily enough, if you terminate a contract early, they ask for the phone back - and you can offer to buy it off them.
Previously (with Vodafone) they tried to sell a phone to me full price, and I told them it's second hand (now that I've used it) and wasn't worth the price of a new one - Yes, I got it new, but if they sell it, it's no longer new. Negotiated the price down a few hundred.

          • @OzJD: Oh! That’s good to know. Too bad that I just gave up buying from Optus because I’m going overseas soon, couldn’t risk not getting the watch in time. Guess I’ll try that next time when I deal with telcos.

  • I have a bunch of Amazon credit I was hoping to use but they still haven't released the phone for sale on Amazon Australia.

I spoke to two reps and they can't give me an ETA.

Maybe it'll be released on Black Friday?

If anyone has any info or insight please share :)

    • The suppliers in the list in my original post are the only authorised Australian stockists. The list hardly changes year to year.

  • Is anyone else still waiting for their order to arrive? I managed to get my order in for an outright phone/watch, but I got in late. Apparently they have my order and everything but are waiting for it to be processed.

I figured because I ordered just before the offer finished, they may be waiting for Pixel Watch 2 stock. But that is just an assumptions, as the phones are in stock on their website.

  • Those who pre-ordered through JB hifi.
Is anyone still waiting on their JB Gift Voucher/Cards?

I know the jb website said the gift cards will be sent within 2 weeks of pre-ordering but I'm getting nervous that the giftcards wont arrive (Assuming they should arrive via email)
I bought the Pixel 8 Pro + Pixel watch for ($550 worth of gift cards).

If pre-ordering in store, aparently you got the giftcards upfront, as physical giftcards.

So I'm wondering if anyone has recieved their giftcards yet!

(Yes, I also did the tradein bonus $300 gift card to make the deal worthwhile, which I recieved immediately and used on the purchase.)
