  • Nice find.

  • Probably a crazy question
Anyone know if Good Guys commercial take gift cards?

    • No.

    • +6

Ultimate gift cards would work though.

      • @MA87033 How would you do this? I don't see any option to pay with gift cards when checking out on TGGC (other than the promo code box).

        • +1

I believe you would need to use the credit card option.

        • +8

I've done this in the past, works fine.

        • +1

          Thanks @MA87033 and @Lastora!

Great find. Would buy if my xm3 weren't still going strong.

    • +1

I got the XM4s when they popped up here as Sony Refurb. I was going to keep using my XM3s for certain things, haven't touched them since as I found this was such a great improvement.

      • I got them too. Puppy chewed them up. Time for an upgrade.

    • +1

My xm4 (used daily for 1.5< years) was starting to have issues with its battery. It starts to drain quicker than before. Managed to sell it.

Just waiting for a deal (I've no access to TGG commercial)

      • +5

I just sent my XM4s back to Sony for service for this same issue. They were 1.5-2 yrs old and heating up after long use, drains unevenly, drains rapidly some times too, doesn't hold full charge. They didn't ask for payment for repair prior to sending so I assume they're being fixed for free currently.

        • +2

It's a pretty widespread/known issue with that model.

Sony have supply issues with that model as well, I suspect they may have stopped production early. Complaints from months ago about support lacking replacement units. No new units from major retailers anymore either, quite early into the XM5 product cycle. (For reference, the XM3 deals persisted almost 9 months after the XM4 went on sale)

Their mixed response burnt quite a few people on the brand as well. (Although that seems to be Sony support in general)

          • +2

@Namidairo: I'm trying to go through their support now to do something about my 2 year old ones… Hard to get past the have you done all the troubleshooting steps part of the conversation though…

They said they will send me an email with details of service options, so guess I have to wait for that, as they ended chat after saying they will email.

            • +2

@sp3tsnaz: I got the email asking for my info and proof of purchase about a week after my chat with them. Then the following day I got the details on where to send it (and the prepaid label).

        • Can I ask how you initiated the warranty process ? My xm4 will play at max volume after they’ve been on pause on a song. Or only one side will play music and I have to turn the volume down for both to respond normally. It’s a PITA……

        • Sony is giving me the run around saying the product is outside of warranty so I could pay for repairs if I go down that path…

          Pretty annoying.

They did say they will get someone from their trade in team to also contact me to discuss reduced options on an upgrade so will see what that's like.

I did mention going to the ACL in my last email so will see if they change their tune at all, but doubt it. Pretty annoying when it's a very common issue that would normally warrant a recall.

          • @sp3tsnaz: Weird. Mine was about 2 years old (so out of warranty by a year) and I just received it back this week, buds replaced/repaired free of charge.

            Notes from servicer:
Your WF1000XM4/BME has been checked and was found to have an issue with the Unit being fully charged, Tested playback for 30 minutes and both earbuds not holding charge, LHS drain faster than RHS and charging case ok. cx used their own ear tips.

Your earbuds have been repaired free of charge and are being returned via AusPost

            • +1

@bozzonac: Nice one, yeah they said mine would incur a service fee. Guess it depends on who you get…

They did offer me the WF-1000XM5s for $249 by trading in my faulty XM4s so I might take them up on that instead.

      • +3

I had the same issues as you, where battery was draining on one earbud within 30 mins. I logged the issue with Sony and they offered me $249.98 for the XM5's to purchase on their portal. But note they allowed you to pick anything within reason in their audio range, I just chose the WF-1000XM5.

I was also out of warranty as well.

Whoops, realised you sold your XM4 already - so hope this helps anyone else out there with the same problems with battery.
Haven't experienced battery issues with the XM5 at this point in time.

        • +2

Is that $249.98 for the XM5s or $249.98 towards the purchase of XM5s?

        • Nice!

Id rather get 249 refunded back tbh. Looking at the sennies momentum 3 (buds). Bose is too exy and I feel I should try something else instead of the xm5. But considering it was out of warranty, I think that's pretty good. They could've just left you high and dry.

Ahwell. I did get it for awfully cheap on eBay (120) and managed to sell it for 160 (130 after fees).

          • @mbck: Yeah I had the same mindset as you of trying something else, but with Sony it was either buy it at the discounted rate, pay a similar rate to hand in an and fix or do nothing and lose out on offer.

So I opted to buy with the intention to resell it, but I got lazy and used it :P

Sony updated fast charging for their latest XM4 releases with a higher battery capacity on one of their FW patch, older or first release XM4's were shipped with a lower batt capacity hence the issues with charging, overheating, fast and uneven battery drains.

        • Oooooo this must be it.

I remember it was fine, then had an updateand I feel like the battery was poorer after this.

  • Anyone know if you can do TRS with something bought via Commercial?

    • You still have to pay gst, therefore yes.

    • Yes, GST Invoice is GST Invoice.

    • +1

Yeah can't decide which one to get!

      • +2

I got Jabras, but now also want Sonys 🙂

  • oos

    • Still in stock on my side. Make sure you are on the the commercial website.

      • I am on the commercial website but it shows $419 for me

        • $308 for me

          • @snuke: https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/sony-premium-noise-…

Can you check if you use this link it shows $308 as for me its $419. Thanks.

            • @Blok: Sony Premium Noise Cancelling Earbuds - Silver

              $308.00

              • @snuke: Weird as we are looking at the same thing but price comes out differently.

                • @Blok: Interesting. Maybe you aren't logged in?

                  • +1

@MA87033: After a couple of refresh the lower price came out. Their commercial page does not cope well tho. I tried to use the sort by function but nothing changes.

  • If I am flying out of the country from Brisbane via Sydney, do I need to do the TRS at Brisbane airport or must be st Sydney airport ???

    • +1

Probably should do at Syd Airport.

    • +1

You will be asked to provide your boarding pass along with passport etc. You won't get that boarding pass until you are at your international departure airport.

      So Sydney it is.

    • +1

It should be at whichever airport you're going through customs. I've had many international flights from Melbourne that transit through Sydney but required going through customs in Melbourne. I had to do TRS at Melbourne for those.

Check with your airline if necessary to confirm where you will go through customs.

  • Anyone can find a deal for WH-1000XM5?

    • For a second I thought these were the XM5 headphones and got really excited 😶

    • You can quote TGG commercial for it. $389 for me last year.

  • Worth update from XM4?

    • +2

      Go watch a review video?

    • If your XM4 is not affected by the battery issue then not really. But only time will tell, with one of their FW patch Sony updated fast charging for their latest XM4 releases with a higher battery capacity, older or first release XM4's were shipped with a lower batt capacity hence the issues with charging, overheating, fast and uneven battery drains.

  • Is this a good price for earbuds? Might look at getting a pair for mum for Xmas, but she doesn't use them often. So looking for a decent quality and good price, doesn't have to be the best. Any recommendations? Maybe worth getting the Samsung earbuds or other brands?

    • You should do bit more research, try YouTube comparison videos.
This is a new release and big price drop from RRP with 50+ up votes.

    • +1

There's so many options nowadays. If she doesn't use it that often you probably could settle for a mid range price earbuds and she'd still be super stoked with them.

  • +3

    Shame I can't access TGCC… wanted to buy them…

  • What does "Stock Reserved" in the order details mean? I ordered yesterday for C&C and I got an sms within 2(?) hours saying pick up is ready but I never received an email saying it's ready to pick up. Yeah I can call, but I've been busy and it's not a priority

    • Still shows $308 for me.

  • -1

The amazing value soundcore buds and Bluetooth speakers really stand out - unsure how these Sony can be over 15x better given the cost

  • Sold out? Is it this oneWF1000XM5S?

    Showing $294 for me

  • So torn between this, the Jabra Elite 10 and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra. Price isn't a huge concern as I've got price protection, but I'm hoping to use these on flights with a Bluetooth transmitter that has aptX LL or Adaptive for low-latency.

The Bose seems to have great sound and ANC with aptX Adaptive, but no Multipoint or wireless charging. Both the Sony and Jabra don't support aptX.

Can't find Bluetooth transmitters like the AirFly Pro that support LE/LC3 or LDAC. Can't find a winning combo haha.

  • When will this end? Still working on my origin energy account, couldn't receve any one-time code from them.

    • As long as they have stock, I'm sure it will stay this price, since it's not showing as a discount on that website. But not completely sure as I'm also new to this.

  • Might be OOS, no longer listed on the site
