We are nomading around Australia at the moment staying in various types of accomodation from basic cabins and Airbnbs, and these have been great for filling in the blanks. We have used them as night lights, under counter kitchen lights, uplights in dimly lit rooms etc etc

How many hours will it last, when fully charged on brightest setting? Does it have a motion sensor light function?

      • +1

This is a pretty good review
        https://zeroair.org/2022/03/11/wuben-f5-lantern-review/

        and no motion sensor.

      • +4

It drops from 500lm to 300lm after 5 minutes on high then will last 10 hours. No.

      • What's the use case for the motion sensor?

        • When you're moving around in a dark tent and you want a light to turn on automatically.

        • +2

Open a door of any size and have sufficient or emergency lighting.
Cupboard, Ute canopy, tent, distance between you and a light switch…
It’s a light switch. The use case is not being able to reach a light switch, carry a light or perhaps to alert you if a pet is at the window, hallway etc

        • I use a (mi light) on sensor so I can wee (into the bowel) at night without turning on the light and blinding myself :D

          • @h4lcyon: Sounds painful

            • @Qbagger: Turning on the light? In the middle of the night it is :D

          • @h4lcyon: Weeing into the bowel usually indicates end-stage prostate cancer

How bright is 500lm compared to the torch/light on a smartphone?

    • +4

Probably just as long as that piece of string…

    • +2

It's not an easy comparison for anyone here to make as we don't know which flashlight was used in your phone. My guess is if your phone can make 250lm then this is twice as bright

    • It is a measure of light brightness over an area. With amount of light being the same and the area is very big then it will not look bright. If the area is smaller then it will look brighter.

      • +1

The second part of your comment is correct; what you're referring to is lux, which is lumen/area. Lumens is the total light output emitted by a source and is not related to the area of luminescence.

        • +1

Bit fuzzy on the details, but yeah you are correct.

  • Is there a movement sensor? And auto off?

    • +2

      No, and no.

      • Thank you mate

  • Price is now 43 or 45 depending on colour

  • Shame it doesnt do orange light for camping.

    • Put some orange or even red tint in front of it.

  • Price is not the only factor that influences purchase.

    • Really?

I wish battery was replaceable. Another option for about the same price is Nitecore NWL20

    I’ve seen the light

  • I've got one of these and I love it. In fact we use it every night overnight as a nightlight. We put it on the lowest setting and have to charge it very infrequently. Beats having bigger lights on for when people head to bathroom or kitchen in the night. 10/10. Perfect with it's build quality, the inbuilt ring, the magnet, USB-C charge etc. Think I'll buy another.

  • Thanks ordering one now🤞

I bought this just about a week ago, it cost $40.03, it had a 9 % off promo. I bought the green one, fantastic colour.
Anyhow I have been testing it (only in warm white) on high and it would start off very bright 3,100 lux (with my UNI-T UT383 light meter) which is over 500 lumen then within 10 minutes it had dropped to 2270 lux, then after 160 minutes it had dropped to 763 lux, but still had 3 out of 4 lights on the battery bar. So I turned it off then immediately back on and it went back up to just over 2,000 lux then again within 10 minutes it dropped to under 1,000 lux, after just over 8 hours it turned off but it was at 605 lux at 7.5 hours.
It took about 2 hours to recharge. I then set it to the lowest brightness which is meant to be 10 lumens according to the manual, this was on 10th October at 7:30am, it is now 14th October 10:30am that is exactly 99 hours and it has remained at about 80 lux or above this whole time. The battery status light bar still shows 3 out of 4 lights, but it also showed this when I did the test on high and died about 2 hours later in the 8 hours test. So I don't trust the battery indicator at all. Anyhow it claims to last 500 hours on low setting, that's 3 weeks!! I'm confident it will last a week at least. The magnet on the back is very strong and would easily support the Wuben F5 when attached to a ceiling, on a wall the magnet slips a little but still holds. The adjustable hanging ring that goes around the magnet is nice and tight so if you were to hang it from a hook you can adjust the angle to point
to your preferred direction. I bought this light as my Renogy Camping LED Lightstopped working, it was also a fantastic light for camping.
Anyhow this light is about the same brightness but I much prefer the warm white option with the Wuben F5. So on high it would easily be strong enough as a dinner light while cooking when camping and you could easily read with it when it's sitting 1.5 metres above you, even after the lumens drop from continued use. When on it's lowest setting and you were to hang it in the centre of a medium sized room in your house it would be easily bright enough to find your way around the room and to be able to see items on the ground, so it's a bit brighter than most of those night lights that people buy for the kids room. So it would be ideal for camping and even bushwalking due to it's small size and weight.
So yes I'm very impressed with it, my only issue is that the brightness drops so quickly when on high, but it still maintains a reasonable amount of brightness even after the brightness drops. Oh BTW the light measurements I've stated are lux not lumens, but if you divide the lux by 5 that is approximately how many lumens it's putting out, so on it's highest setting it briefly reached 3,100 lux, so 3100/5=620 lumens, on it's lowest setting it's been hovering around 80 lux so around 16 lumens.
