  • any reviews on the quality of these drives ???

  • +2

Reviews say that this is a very badly performing device. Warning.

  • I checked the amazon website for reviews.

    here is the link

    http://www.amazon.com/BUFFALO-MiniStation-Plus-Portable-Driv…

    Average Customer Review
4.0 out of 5 stars (72 customer reviews)

    • Many of those customers don't seem very tech savvy. The speeds on this drive are pretty bad, which is really the whole point of having USB 3…

      • +1

you keep saying its bad. where is the review?

Hitachi 2.5” Touro USB 3.0 $95.00 MSY local or $98.00 delivered from Amazon.

    http://www.amazon.com/HGST-External-HTOLMX3NA10001ABB-Frustr…

    • Are you saying you think this performs better?

      • it's a portable hard drive, i'd be more concerned about quality and reliability than performance…

        • +1

Well I mean overall performance. Transfer speed, quality, reliability, everything.

        • I've tested the Hitachi Touro 1TB and it gives 91MB/s sustained read/write speed. My WD Passport was 80MB/s sustained read/write.

    • +1

If you're in Sydney, JW Blacktown has the Touro for $89 as part of their grand opening sale (6-7th October).

Does OW still have the $98 western digital drives? Mine hit 100meg/s read AND write speeds last night.

I own a Buffalo USB 3.0 1TB drive (the one with shock/drop protection) and it works a treat. No problems. Would buy Buffalo again.

  • Maybe i need to buy this, damaged my 3rd WD drive. Spewing now more than ever as it was 2TB and 70% full.

Need to dl all that stuff again, wrapped :(

    • Three words: Backup, backup, backup!

    • +8

Oh when will people learn the difference between a 2.5" portable and a 3.5" mains powered drive.

    • -4

Yes, fair cop. I missed a distinction between "external" and "portable" in the title, PLUS the description; both which should have made reference to the preferred term 2.5" portable.

A hundre for 1TB, still not my picture of value in any case.-How long has 1tb been around for.

      • in 2.5" form, about a year.

        • more than 2 yrs !
got the samsung 1Tb portable for $99 w/case from
