Catch Connect $89 for 60GB / $109 for 120GB 365 Days (New Services Only) @ Catch Connect

1700

My plan expires in a month and I found this when googling.

60GB Data for $89 and 120GB Data for $109.

Used online chat to talk to a Catch agent, apparently, there is no Catch for the expiry.

As long as I activate within 24 months, I am good.

I am unable to post a link to Finder being an L plater.

    Nice find, thanks for sharing.

The 60GB plan @ $89 is a regular (almost every month) promo with catch connect and probably the cheapest Optus MVNO deal around.
Coles regularly (and currently) does $99 for 365 dyas/60GB plan and includes international calls and text to 15 countries and you get data rollover too.
      https://colesmobile.com.au/home/left-image/product/5
NOTE: Amaysim no longer offers the cheapest 60GB plan

SAYS Offer ends 14/11/2023, unless withdrawn earlier.
Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier to receive advertised inclusions….

There isnt much included apart from the standard unlimited calls, text and data.
Would like to know where OP was told they have 24 months to activate.

Now lets see what great deals pop up for the week of Black Friday next month (25/11/23)

      • Just received my Catch Connect $89 SIM. The attached correspondence says it must be activated with 24-months of purchase. I consulted an agent who advised the 30-day activation applies to promo inclusions, of which there are none - just a discounted purchase price. I'm on half-price Amaysim 60GB from 2022, expiring this month, no retention offer yet. Others have received a $90 renewal offer plus 50GB bonus data (plus Optus outage bonus data). So if something better becomes available around Black Friday I can keep my Catch SIM until this time next year.

        • The promo inclusions are currently 60Gb data (potentially a bonus 60Gb on top of that - according to the offer on the main page and depending on how well CatchConnect track these Promo SIMs)

The $120 plan might change in the future to be 40Gb data, or maybe 80Gb data who knows?
If you activate after 30 days, you'll get the offer that is current at the time you activate, not what was being offered at the time of purchase of the SIM pack.

        • I received that same retention offer from Amaysim.
          Its a no-brainer
But I had auto-Renew turned OFF.

          So try turning OFF Auto-Renew

    • sounds to good to be true, love it cheap

Damn desperately need cheap boost deal (lthe lowest plan). Current boost expires in 3 weeks.

    • +1

      Same

      • When there is boost deal for new user, we still can buy it activate as new user then ask via chat to transfer old number to the new one, right? It was working long time ago

        • I heard, they are not supporting it now a days

        • Not anymore, at least the last time I tried. Chat said they no longer have the power to do so. They directed me to a call line, it seems like that’s the only way to do so now.

          • @Tretno: Ah I see.
As long they do it via call it's fine for me. Probably I did the call too last time, and I said I have somehow damaged the old physical Sim but I want to keep the old number so please transfer. Both are boost anyway.

            • @CyberMurning: I did it about a month ago via chat. They said they couldnt do it and asked me to sell it to someone in the family. When i said ill just port out and back in they eventually said they would just do it this once for me.

              • @rob3: How long do you need to port out for before you can port back in to boost?

                • +1

@Ezio: We've done it same day. Port out in the morning, waited a few hours to make sure the port was fully bedded in … then ported back to Boost. Of note, 5G took about 2 hours to become live (was only showing 3G / HSDPA and 4G). Then 5G popped up without needing to do anything. YMMV

    Question.
I'm expecting new phone with 5g capability, any cheap provider that gives access to 5g? Only need 5 GB per month data

    • Belong $19 a month (first month $25 but then you can downgrade to $19 for 5gb) also unlimited data if you run out (albeit very slow speeds).

      • +1

Kogan one year 120GB plan is $120, cheaper than Belong.

        • I'm on this now and Vodafone 4G is surprisingly ok now in my area.

          • @stephendt: Vodafone 5G is better than Telstra in my place.

    • +7

If your usage is 5GB per month I wouldn't be too concerned about 5G access

      • +2

You mean I will burn that 5gb too quick?
I just want to experience the blazing speed promised by 5g :)

        • +2

Haha Na I just mean, obviously you don't do too much high bandwidth usage, so realistically 4G, which is like 150mbps+ would be more than enough. 5G is alright but it tends to chew through the battery.

          • @Binchicken22: Ah okay. When I feel getting choppy reception with 4g phone and 4g signal , that will not improve if I have 5g phone and 5g signal, right? That is because the area is bad that's it.

            • +1

@CyberMurning: I've found 5g helped my reception because a lot of 3g bands were reallocated

If you shop at woolies, get woolworths mobile as the 10% off one shop a month basically pays for the plan

              • +2

@Ibz: If one of your shops was $150, then yes, which is about one lettuce and half a chicken breast nowadays.

                • +1

@Daabido: Look at fancy-pants there with chicken breast & lettuce. I bet it is a whole head of lettuce & not just the leftover scraps people rip off.

              • @Ibz: Have anyone tried if the discount applies to opal recharges

              • @Ibz: So ww mobile has 5g? Any other budget that give 5g? I don't shop at ww, more to Coles

                • @CyberMurning: The 12 months ww plans don't have 5g access, but some of the month to month plans do.

            • @CyberMurning: If 4G is poor in your area, 5G will be poor also. This has been my experience. And I serioulsy doubt you will notice any difference anyway.

              • @bob19: Oh ok then will forget about 5g. I'm not heavy user anyway.

        • Good luck with 5gb - when I got my Optus sim a couple of weeks ago I did a few (two or three) speed tests and got the 2gb usage warning lol. Certainly experienced the blazing speed though. Test result average was 9509Mbps download and 100Mbps upload.

          • @integriti: Location?

            • @CyberMurning: Western Sydney. There's a lot of crappy 5g areas out here but I'm lucky my house is at a decent spot.

          • @integriti: if you favourite optus server on the speedtest app. it wont take any of ur mobile data

  • Great deal. Just in time for me. Hopefully the Sim arrives before my current plan expires

You won’t be able to use with this I don’t think

  • -1

If you go overseas the roaming pack is $25 for 1 month only to receive messages.

    • -1

Someone said with any provider actually able to receive just text when we are overseas, for free, but they just don't advertise that feature

      • +1

        Kogan can’t, but belong can.
        I tried last month.

    • +2

I've not tried it, but other people have said they are receiving messages for free, without a roaming package.

      • +2

Fabulous! If anyone could confirm it would be great. Thanks

        • Many confirmed already… Boost, amaysim, Woolworths, TPG… Can't remember the rest…

          • @CyberMurning: Coles mobile also received txt overseas for free

          • @CyberMurning: I have one sim with catch and it says $25 pay as you go roaming…. Amaysim doesn’t

            • @fozzie: That is roaming. Yes roaming voice isn't free but I'm talking getting only text. Receive only

        • I think it may not work as it uses Optus and Optus is a pain for free roaming for txt messages… but will be curious to see what others say

          • +4

@wwwboy: received messages OS with Catch - this was a month back - used Airolo eSIM for data

      • +1

I recieved text messages overseas about eleven months ago, on Catch

  • Make sure you get enough coverage, got into amaysim recently and was not happy. I get 150 MBPS in CBD but 1 MBPS at my local suburb.

    • Currently with AmaySIM and can't complain. So, I assume this should be as good as AmaySIM.
I don't think I have had a single call dropped anywhere in Sydney suburbs.

    • I find the optus network more reliable in my area (inner west sydney). Indoors telstra has outdated 4G only DAS, while optus will have a updated das.

      • Definitely, bang for the buck I would say.

  • As usual from Catch mobile should be for new customers and the first year only

  • I'm an existing catch customer, will this purchase work? Will it add data to existing amount? Or is it for new services only?

    • +1

      New services only.

Not sure but this said in T&Cs

  • +2

Any esim offers with a comparable price?

    • +2

Cheapest I could find was Kogan Mobile 365 days when it goes on sale, not sure if there's anything cheaper.

  • +2

Good deal, this equates to $7.42 per month for 12 months on the 60GB plan.

    • actually is..for low data users is great dead anything around 60GB under $100/per year

  • Can you buy catch connect sims at woolies or coles, so you don't have to wait for it to be sent out?

  • Anyone know how long you have to connect this? Would get it but only need it in like 3-4 months or so.

Also, If I had a previous port in @ catch and then ported out can I still get this? I'd be using the same number.

    • +1

I have been told 24 months is the expiry time. I assume as long as you are porting in from a different carrier you are fine regardless if you were a subscriber before.

      • Cool, thanks. Will def get it then.

    • I got this email..Remember you'll need to activate your Catch Connect SIM card within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion in order to receive any special offers that applied when you bought
      your Catch Connect Prepaid plan.

      • 2 different things
        1) activate within 30 days of purchase and they will honour the offer available at the time of purchase
        2) after 30 days, activate within 24 months from purchase and get whatever offer they have available at the pricepoint on the day you activate
if you try to activate after 24 months, they may not recognize the SIM and you may have burned your money.

  • Great find (er). Just bought this same service last week for $120. dammit.

    • +2

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership.

      • $45 last year after bonus catch credit.

  • +1

Anyone looking to buy and activate after the current plan expires like me, you are good.

I have been told by the Catch agent that as long as I activate within 24 months It should be fine.

  • -1

Just clicked through to the Catch website and it says the deal ends on 14/11. Might want to add this to the OP to reflect this.

  • +1

guys, does voice mail work for you on catchconnect ? (I set it up, but a caller doesn't proceed to leave a message step when I don't pick up)

    • same here. Did you try contacting Catch?

  • +1

Does this have voicemail? Can’t seem to find it anywhere on their website.

  • +2

Can’t seem to go through finder at the moment. Anyone else seen this message?

Catch Connect is not currently available via Finder. You can head to the Catch Connect website or compare alternative plans available below.

    • looks like it is back onto finder but the 2 plans are gone?

      • +2

I kept the link open on one of my tabs for the $109 plan
        https://catchconnect.com.au/home/affiliate-product/998354f7-…

Still there to buy after a refresh. Does it work for others?

        • not the 60GB?

          • @CyberMurning: no, I wish I left them both open, I want the other one too…

Perhaps they'll come back as the expiry of the offer was 14/11/23?

            • @nismo: yeah or lets hope there is something closer to black friday

              • +2

@CyberMurning: Added the direct link for the 60GB as well. Check the description above.

            • +2

@nismo: I have added the 60GB direct link. Let me know If this is working for you.

        • +2

          Yep still works. Thanks.

I got one originally and might get a second

    • +1

I have added a direct link, hopefully its working for everyone.

  • damn too late

    • +1

      Added direct link.

  • yeah same.. dammm.

    • Added direct link.

  • +1

Please check the direct link in the description above. Added both.

  • i have question which one better, coles vs catch ?
answer: coles because it has int. call to 15 countries

  • What is a new service? I'm pretty certain I've had an account with catch connnect a while ago currently with boost. New service if i port my current number in? Thanks OzB for your service and answers in advance

    • +1

To me if you are not with Catch Connect right now, you're a new customer as you're basically porting in from a different provider.

      • correct they can ban anyone that have been with them in the past, as millions people moving between providers each day.

      • Thank you your opinion is valued

  • +1

From the Coles Mobile thread, I suspect the same will happen with CatchConnect as it's probably the same Wholesale product from Optus and Optus seem to be putting up prices, just like Telstra.
Note Coles $120 Plan is the 60Gb option

What’s happening to the $120 plan?
The $120 will be discontinued on 9 November 2023 and will no longer be available for purchase by new customers.

If you purchase this plan before 9 November 2023, you can still activate the SIM any time before 1 January 2024 to enjoy the current plan inclusions with no impact.

Copied from the very bottom option on (Coles Mobile FAQ)[https://colesmobile.com.au/home/page/faq]

  • 3.5% cash back with CR. Tracked for me making this deal $2.83 cheaper.
