  • Wouldn't the microSD version of this perform exactly the same in an adapter for $40 less?

So Micro SD card adapters have a pretty decent failure rate as there is generally enough space for the card to come off the contacts. Micro SD cards are great for things like phones, action cameras, ect. but adapting them to bigger cards, just not a good idea. if you ever get a chance, crack open an micro sd to sd adapter.

Edit: Also forgot to mention, generally the adapters aren't rated as the cards are, so there's that as well.

    • I'd think so, I'm buying the 256GB version of this card (supposedly the 256GB-1TB versions of this card should have similar performance) and will report back on how it compares vs the Samsung EVO microSD card in a Sony full frame camera.

I do know that the microSD card adapters are capable of delivering their advertised speeds in my card reader so I'm not worried about their ability to deliver speeds within the UHS-I spec.

      • For me, it’s the chance of lost of data. Having (worked in a camera store) seen people bring back micro sd cards that they used in a camera with adapter because it corrupted, I’d just rather avoid that risk. Some adapters are good, most aren’t.

        • I won't dispute your experience in the store but funnily enough for me its been the other way around, I've had worse luck with full size SD cards than microSD over the years. I basically treat all my memory cards like ticking time bombs, including the V90s. Anything that I care about is recorded to both slots and gets offloaded ASAP!

@eecan: Let’s be real, all digital media storage is a ticking time bomb. Some just have shorter fuses

  • Was $103.70 on Prime Day

    • are you sure? Camel doesn't say?

      • I picked one up on Prime Day for $93.70 with an additional $10 off promotion. The thumbnail was for a regular Extreme card but the text was Pro and that’s what arrived.

      • Yes, I've been monitoring it on one of my shopping lists for a few weeks. Didn't take a screenshot though

  • Well, I finally got back up off the floor after seeing the price of the UHS-ii version.

    • Yeah, the prices of UHS-II and Cfast cards make me wonder why I got in to this industry.
