On another note, I found out today that you can actually change your payment method for past Uber orders from the last 30 days. So you can purchase an uber card within this promotion, and swap your payment methods to that to get a bunch of points for free!

Enjoy!

  • Dumb Question… can you purchase these gift cards using a Woolworths gift card (which itself was bought at a discount, obviously)

    • +4

      I highly doubt it.

      • It is against the terms and conditions of all gift cards issued by Woolworths Group to use them to as a payment method for gift cards.

      • If you scan a gift card to purchase, go to the payment screen, select Gift Card as a payment method and swipe/scan/enter a gift card issued by Woolworths Group, you should get an Items Not Allowed error (or something along those lines).

      • If you attempt to use Everyday Pay as a payment method in a transaction where you trying to purchase a gift card and go to the payment screen, you should get an Items Not Allowed error (or something along those lines). You are not able to use Everyday Pay to purchase any gift cards, even if your Everyday Pay payment source is merely a bank card.

Feel free to give it a go if you want, but considering I have encountered the errors myself in the past, I am extremely doubtful it would work if you try it out during this deal.

    • +3

      Nope

  • Can I think of these cards as prepaid visa debit cards that only work at the Participating Retailers? That is, I don't have to spend it all at just one retailer, in one go?

    • As far as I know - yeah that's how these work.

  • What are the largest denomination available for these TCN cards?

    • Should be $100, from memory.

      • Woolworths only stocks $50s and/or $30s.

        • In my memory TCN GIFT only has $50s in wwolworths

          Rest cards has $100s

          • @ggfatty: I said "and/or". Stock varies among all locations. I got both before.

  • Given that you can only buy these gift cards in $50 and $100 denominations, is there a way to aggregate the balance together? Let's say as a $2050 JB Hi-Fi giftcard if I wanted to get 20000 QFF points and a new iPhone?

    • I know you can use multiple JBHIFI cards in one online purchase, but I'm not too sure about using these. I want to purchase an iPhone 13 Pro Max and an Apple watch, but to play it safe I'm just going to wait for the 20/30x Apple card promotion to go up so I can do that instead. I'll just be using this one for Uber/Uber eats cards.

      • Ok, that was what I was waiting for as well. I was going to bank them onto my Apple balance so to pay it off so the invoice doesn't look too ridiculous as I need to submit it for salary sacrifice.

        • -1

What's salary sacrifice? I'm waiting too, hopefully we get it soon since it's been a few months…

          • @sombreserotonin: My employer lets us purchase smartphones and smart watches using pretax income, so we can save on the GST and Income Tax component.

            • -1

@karu: Only if it is used for work purposes or pro rata

              • @Poor Ass: That's for tax deduction. Our agreement is that we can salary package the entire cost of our portable devices.

                • @karu: Are you required to fill in a portable electronic device declaration and a superior signs off on it?

                  • @Poor Ass: No superior sign off required, but the form has the following declaration.

                    'I declare that these
expenses were provided to me on behalf of my employer and were 100% attributable to my assessable income where applicable.'

                    • -3

@karu: man you have a dodgy ass employer and I should report this to the ATO if I knew more

  • Can I buy these cards with visa vanilla giftcards?

    • +1

      Yep.

  • +1

Yes you can until someone mentions it . Then it will be stopped like the rest of the store then you can throw them out

  • +3

    Finally ebay!!!

    • Eyay

  • Coles one does not include variable load, looking at T&C for Woolworths, it looks like Woolworths includes them?

  • Ebay! Finally

  • +1

So it's essentially 10% back if you use the points for your groceries?

  • Can one buy jbhifi gift card and then use that card to purchase google play store card. Basically after playstore card don't seem to see offers discounts on those.

    • -1

No you can’t buy a gift card with another gift card

  • Coles 10% off is better deal

    • Not necessarily.

    • +1

      No Ebay.

      • +1

        Yes for other options.

        • Really would have prefered the 10% off than 20x rewards points. Shame that Coles Ultimate Gift Cards doesn't have Ebay as a retailer.

  • Are these cards like the Ultimate Cards where you get a 16 number + a CVV + Expiry date? or is it a swap giftcard?

    • +3

I’m going to assume you are talking about the TCN gift cards, not the Uber / Uber Eats gift cards nor Stan gift cards. If so, the short answer to your questions is neither.

The TCN gift cards in this deal are physical eftpos gift cards that can only be redeemed at a specific list of participating retailers. There are two redemption options:

      • Instore: this is where you can redeem it like any eftpos/Visa/Mastercard/etc card on an EFTPOS terminal at a participating retailer. This is essentially identical to the Ultimate gift card’s Instore redemption option.

      • Online: this is a bit of a misnomer, because Online for the gift cards in this deal actually refers to you going to the TCN website and exchanging part or the full balance of a TCN gift card for a retailer-specific digital gift card (e.g. rebel gift card, JB Hi-Fi gift card, eBay gift card). This is essentially identical to the Ultimate gift card’s Exchange for eGift redemption option.

You cannot add any of the TCN gift cards in this deal to a mobile wallet, so that is where they differ from Ultimate gift cards (at least the newer ones operating on the Visa network).

The TCN website will tell you whether a participating retailer accepts a particular TCN gift cards Instore, Online or Instore & Online. I suggest you have a look there before you purchase a TCN gift card, because a participating retailer may not accept a TCN gift card from this deal across all their stores. For example:

      • Foot Locker only accepts the TCN gift cards in this deal in their physical stores (in other words, you cannot use a TCN gift card from this deal on Foot Locker’s online store).

      • JB Hi-Fi is listed as Instore & Online on the TCN website for most of the year, but in 2021 and 2022, the Online redemption option was removed in the weeks leading up to Black Friday without any prior warning, and then was restored shortly after Black Friday (again, without any prior warning).

      • +1

Understood, will go check it out before purchasing. Thanks for the clarification @WookieMonster.

  • This is like a 10% discount Is that correct?

    • +2

Not really. You get 10% of the card value in rewards points which you can then use to make purchases at woolworths, big w, etc.

    • +3

Approx 9.1% discount. $55 value from a $50 outlay, in the case of a $50 gift card for example.

      • -1

That's a strange way of looking at it, it's a flat 10% discount on the value of the gift cards (and by extension, the value of what you purchase with the gift cards)

No one is claiming it's a 10% discount on both the gift cards AND what you purchase with the bonus points. eg. instead of spending $5 on groceries that you were going to buy anyway, you use the points gained from this promo

        • It’s more of a 10% bonus than a discount.

      • I don't get it. Why is it 9.1%?

  • What's the go with people wanting to swap for Apple gift cards at JB such a waste. Apple gcs are like on special so often at Colesworths.

  • +2

I have previously purchased these using the supermarket card from shopback (that has a 2.25% cashback) BUT you can only use one of these prepaid cards per transaction. If yoy are short you need to use another payment method.

    • Ahahah that’s over

      • Worked for me 2 weeks ago

        • +2

Yes it will work until someone openly mentions it like above ⬆️

  • +1

I just did 8 x$50 cards for eBay as they did not have any $100. Its a big toss up whether it is worth the time and hassle of using these with the crappy swap process TCN use

    • Is it that bad? I thought you just submit a swap request to Ebay giftcards for each of your $50 TCN giftcards.

      • +1

That is what it is but it was annoying because:
        1. To find the swap request page i had to put in a card number and select i wanted eBay which then redirected me to the swap page.
        2. The swap page didn't keep my card number so i had to type it out again.
        3. Each subsequent card needs to then be typed out also.
        4. I was on a phone so the easiest way to go back to the swap page was to go back in the browser which sometimes broke the captcha meaning i would type out all the card details and then it would break again.
        5. After swapping all the cards you still need to go to each email and apply them to your transaction.

Note that there may be much simpler methods on PC so this is just my experience

        • Yeah quite annoying since I have quite a few to swap to Ebay.

          • +1

@Phlume: Keep the Request ID final page till you receive the email as it makes easier to contact Support. It is recommended to receive the current one before redeem the next one. From my experience, there is still a small chance that the email is not sent.

        • +2

Faster on browser/laptop. A bit of tips, if u need to exchange a few at once:
          1. Keep the first page where u enter the card number opened all the time
          2. Each time u finish, just click the "proceed" button of the no 1 again (no need to change the info as u need to reenter the numbers on the 2nd page anyway)
          3. Use a browser that can auto-fill all those name/email details on 2nd page
I usually type all the card number and pin on a notepad for quick copy paste purpose (the one that I want to exchange), exchange them all for ebay, then start grabbing them from my email before I start any ebay purchase. If u do them all quick, shouldn't ask for any captcha from my memory (not sure if they changed)

  • Couldn't find anything with eBay, the Gift one was only 50$. Never bothered

    • gift one is the eBay card. You can convert that to eBay gift voucher.

    • +1

$50 for ebay is not bad, people are buying $30 Choice from Cashrewards all the time :)

      • I stopped buying Choice. Want profit? Easier to buy one more Boost.

  • How long it took for you guys to get the EDR points?

    • +2

      Instant

      • Bought it yesterday. Still has not come through…

        • Something went wrong. Check receipt if EDR is on it. Make sure you bought the correct item.

          • @Neoika: Thanks. I was checking the Woolworth money app. Checked the website and its showing 20x points. Thanks for your help.

    • should show on the screen when u pay if u buy $100 or more (it'd say something like congratulations, u'll get $10 off for next shop, if it's $100, etc etc) and on the receipt too

    • got mine as soon as i purchased. Did you purchase in store?

      • u can only buy this in-store

  • Anyone has issue not receiving email with the gift card from TCN? I redeemed Gift into two lots $20 for Uber and $30 for eBay but only received 1 email for the Uber gift card not the eBay. I went back to the website and entered the card details again it says error.

    • mine came in 30 seconds. I swapped it for jb

    • Keep the Request ID final page till you receive the email as it makes easier to contact Support.

      • I did it last night and Didn’t keep the page.

        • Card info is also OK, but it will be leaked. Use it up soon.

The issue is with some cards on hand, if one redeem multiple in a quick succession, one may not know which one had the problem.

          • @Neoika: Yes, worse part I redeemed two cards last night and now can't check balance for both card as it always come up with error.

  • Are you guys actually finding GIFT cards that have eBay listed on them or are we able to exchange ones that don’t specifically have eBay on the packaging?

    • +1

The in-store packaging TCN "GIFT" cards does not have Ebay as an advertised retailer but you can check the full retailer list on their website. Can definitely exchange them for Ebay gift cards.

    • I managed to swap mine for ebay gift card even though it's not listed on the packaging. the new paper cards are flimsy, be careful when scratching the pin.

  • Anybody used 10 gift cards at jb hifi? How was the experience?

    • Make sure you remove cards from packaging and have the pin code visible before you go to the cashier to make the process quicker. Also pick a less busy time. I used 11 cards yesterday just before closing time, took about 5 minutes. The guy serving me said I was the first person he has served to have all the cards ready. Everyone else was unpacking them and scratching the pin at the counter.

  • The cashier was able to activate only one $500 variable card this morning and I got the reward points. I'm unsure if the 20x points will apply if I purchase another $500 variable Uber gift card tomorrow.

    • According to the T's and C's, should be multiple in one purchase. Not sure about buying them on different days though.

  • Should be fine. Limit is 10 cards/day for this one

  • Anyway to swap these out or use on Amazon?

  • Hi, regarding exchanging for Ebay voucher, anyone suffering from this error: Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance. ?

    • You probably got a Kids card.

    • +1

Edit: spoke to them, they said have to wait 24hrs for card to be activated from time of purchase/activation to be able to use the card.
im having the same issue with all the cards i have on the GIFT card

    • Thanks all, in my case, I have to wait 48 hours and then could swap the cards!

  • Can you use the TCN cards directly at the retailer, say JB Hifi? Or do you have to convert them JB vouchers first?
