  • I'd be up for buying a $1000 gift card but looks like the max is $100?

    • +4

Use the arrow. Max is $1000 :)

  • +5

Valid 3yrs from date of issue .. not bad I guess but bummer as I just set up the nursery 2 weeks ago

  • really good deal instead of wasting time with $250 worth ultimate gift cards… for large purchases like kitchen upgrade !

    • +1

I spent $700 a month or so back with ultimate gift cards. I transferred them all to digital online and checking out was very simple.

  • They don't have returns via post (small items <1kg), do they?

  • +3

How often does IKEA things go on special. Wondering whether 10% gift card are better than 28deg PP opportunity. Feels as though it's rare things go on sale (or hard to spot?)

    • Probably depends what items you're looking at?

      • Not sure! Just moved into a place :)

Kitchen in the future. At the moment curtains / curtain rails. Storage shelves.

        Hot dogs.

    • +8

Very rarely. Their prices are often fixed for years.

They do have occasional specials, but it's often little knick knacky things. And when things are on sale, it's hard to spot (as you said).

I'd easily pick 10% discount over price protection.

      • +1

Cheers! As much as I thought

      • they had 10% off sitewide for business members in august, only an abn needed to sign up.

    • +1

Items rarely if ever go on sale, however they may adjust prices each year. Ikea is pretty well priced anyway so I'd just bite the bullet and get what you want now.

  • My transaction keeps getting declined. Anyone else had this issue?

    • Try calling your card issuer (number on the back of your card), their fraud prevention system may block the transaction. They'll be able to fix that for you.

    • @BargainHunterofK - My card keeps getting declined. Did you find a solution for it?

  • +1

Logged in, add $200 gift card, go to check out and $200 to pay….. Where's the discount calculated?

    • +3

You need to enter your membership card # to get a discount.

      • +1

        Thanks!
At checkout, where it mentions "Ikea Loyalty (optional)", it needs a membership number for the discount (although I was logged in with the same membership).

  • +3

Potentially a dumb question, can I buy $10k worth of cards (10x $1k) and use them all to purchase a kitchen?

    • +6

Not a dumb question. I did this 8months ago 😀

      • +1

Legend, thanks. I'll gladly take a 10% discount on my kitchen remodel.

        Cheers!

      • Did you DIY or got a tradie to do it?

    • +5

Yes, you can. Don't tell the checkout staff until the last moment. They get super annoyed. (I've done this)

  • Can I use multiple digital cards in a single transaction?

    • Also interested if you use multiple digital cards on an online order.

    • +8

      Instore

I have redeemed four IKEA gift cards in one transaction myself. Someone else has redeemed a lot more than four in one transaction.

      Online

I am not entirely sure what the limit is (if there is one).

      • Someone once redeemed 29 IKEA gift cards in one online transaction.
      • Someone else was told the redemption limit was 99 per online transaction.
      • Someone else was told the redemption of IKEA gift cards must be completed before the checkout times out (which is 20 minutes).
      • +4

I used 45 gift cards online in one transaction in June with no problem.

      • I am not entirely sure what the limit is (if there is one).

I asked the same question to IKEA Support about 5 months ago. There is no limit.

      • I used about 14 cards last month but last week tried again on a different order and it errored out on the 6th card.

Wouldn't work with any browser or computer I had access to. Always the 6th card. I noted a similar problem was listed in a thread on the forum here.

Tried IKEA online support and they identified it was an issue but could not provide a fix.

Had to go I store to pay and that was difficult as the online kitchen order comes from a virtual store and they had to recreate the order in the local store to accept payment which lead to stock problems.

Customer service was excellent. But it was a PITA.

    • +4

      Quick google search showed:
“ There is no limit to the number of IKEA cards that can be used in one transaction.

Press ‘Redeem a giftcard’ and enter the 19-digit card number and 4-digit PIN (located under the scratch panel), then press ‘Use this giftcard’. Repeat this process for any cards you wish to use. “

  • Thanks OP! Doing our Laundry in the next couple of months, great timing

3% cashback Cashrewards on Ikea Gift Cards too. C'mon people, all of you commenting above…..hand in your Ozbargain memberships.

    • When I tried this it wanted me to buy the cards on the Cashrewards store? So no option to stack?

      • +1

        yeh same here…no stack 😔

    • you have to buy this on CR website

      • +1

Yeah so we couldn’t stack them anyway. Keep ya’ memberships boys Dollar Dreamer needs a review on his!

        • I demanded a refund from @Dollar Dreamer for such bogus advice lol

    • +3

A bit quick to call for people to hand in their memberships eh?

      • +1

Dude needs to hand in his own membership

    • That's only when purchasing through Cashrewards

    • At Least 50% of the time with Cashrewards and Shopback the transactions get ghosted by the retailer and I only get some trivial amount from the platform as a token 'sorry' - Not worth wasting my time with those crappy platforms.

  • Any bupa member can check if the usual 5% discount still avaliable?

    • +1

      Yes it is

      • but looks like it cant stack up coz its purchased with bupa site…
        But I wish Im wrong!

        • +1

Your question wasn't about stacking though. The BUPA discount isn't a cashback; you can either buy from BUPA for 5% off any time, OR you can buy it direct from IKEA for 10% off within the next 2 days. Up to you to decide whether the extra 5% discount is worth holding onto gift cards you might not use for a while.

Anyone else having difficulty checking out? I’m trying to put through 11,000 worth of gift cards to buy a kitchen but transaction is declining. Have tried multiple debit cards with multiple banks, and the amount is under my daily spending limit. Bank tells me they’re not seeing any problem on their end. Maybe there’s a purchase max?

    • I'm getting the same issue to, transaction kept getting declined. Tried with 2 different banks.

      • Did you find a workaround for this? IKEA live chat was unhelpful.

    • All my credit cards were declined. Finally it went through with a Bankwest debit card.

  • "Digital gift cards take up to 48 hours to be activated."

Was planning on going to IKEA this evening, wondering whether a real risk or not..

    • +1

Email said after 48 hours and not yet working online for those wondering.

  • Literally had a sofa and rug in my shopping cart, so perfect timing! Now just have to wait 48 hours for the gift card to activate. Thanks!

    • you'll likely get it tomorrow morning.

  • Can the gift cards be used in store or only online?

    • +1

The IKEA gift cards in this deal can be redeemed instore or online (excluding event tickets, food click & collect and purchase of gift cards).

This deal is only available on the IKEA website (hence the online only language in this deal).

      • +1

        Good work thanks!

    • does not work in Adelaide store. They have their own giftcards? But you can buy online and pickup from Adelaide store for $5 fee.

      • Does work in Adelaide since 2018 when you joined the eastern IKEA states.

  • +1

Either the site is down or my net is slow (unlikely as other sites working fine).

    • The website was unavailable for some time, but it is now back up and running

  • Was about to go to IKEA in a few days to get something. Instant $200 savings :)

    Thanks OP!

  • Does the gift cards earn reward keys?

  • How do I get more than 1000$?

  • I ran into trouble just now checking out with $1000 gift cards. Came up with some warning in french? when trying to go to the checkout.

Adding $900 cards instead worked fine.

    • I am getting this too. $900 cards worked for me.

    • Cette carte n'est plus disponible pour le moment. Veuillez choisir un autre montant ou réessayer plus tard.

That's what I get for $1000 as well. I added a $900 and $100 and it went through, but my transaction has been declined for some reason.

      • I've been having all of my transactions (with multiple cards across multiple banks) declined.

        • Yeah, I tried MasterCard and Visa both declined as well. 😣 I might have to call the bank as requested 😕

          • @Lizard Spock: I called my bank and there was no error from their end (they couldn't even see the transaction). Amount was also under my daily limit. I spent an hour on chat to Ikea yesterday and they couldn't help.

            • @Theyseemeriolin: Did the bank end up helping? Was it with Commonwealth Bank?

            • @Theyseemeriolin: I just tried this morning and it worked (CommBank). Had to put a $100 + $900 separately otherwise I got the French error.

            • @Theyseemeriolin: I called my bank this morning and they had no record of failed transactions from last night.

I tried again while on the phone and this time it got slightly futher (had to enter 2FA code) and then it got declined.

The bank could see this failed one and then put me through to their security team to lift the block.

Payment has gone through now and cards ordered. Hope this helps.

    • There was a box to add IKEA member no.

Once I added this French message went away & discount showed, was able to proceed.

  • Does anyone know whether the gift cards can be used to buy things that are also discounted, I am looking at the "family offers" https://www.ikea.com/au/en/offers/family-offers/

    • +1

      It should be fine.

I used an IKEA gift card last week to purchase an item with an IKEA Family price.

There is also nothing in the IKEA gift card terms and conditions about not being able to use an IKEA gift card to purchase an item on sale.

      • +1

Great, thanks for the real-world confirmation!

    • +1

Yes absolutely, the gift card is taken off the final balance after all discounts/offers.

Think of it as a debit card that can only be used at Ikea.

      • Nice, thx

  • Cette carte n'est plus disponible pour le moment. Veuillez choisir un autre montant ou réessayer plus tard.

I keep gettin this error :(

    • try another value like $800

    • There was a box to add IKEA member no.

Once I added this French message went away & discount showed, was able to proceed.

    • Having this error too =(

    • Error says to try another value. Seems there's a problem with $1000 cards atm

  • Just bought 2 x $100 but wouldn't accept my Commbank card - kept saying bad gateway.

Tried with Revolut card and went through straight away.

In the words of Toyah - 'its a mystery and I am searching for a clue'….

  • I purchased a $200 gift card at $180 today at $12.39. Note the discount only applies if you enter in your member number. It can't be used straight away. But I tried just now (2 hours later) and it worked.

    • $12.39! 12.39pm?

      • sorry i meant the time 12:39

    • I bought another $800 gift card and 20 hours later still not usable. Hopefully it doesn't go past 48 hours. I remember last time bought ones from ShopBack and it took 4 days.

  • +1

I keep getting the error msg below when adding $100 GC, but failed. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

This amount is currently unavailable. Please select another amount or retry later.

    • same here! shouldnt be expired though - the $20 and $50 options are working but none of the 100s are

      • +1

Tried so many times, even with different digital gc design. Only one $500 got added to the cart. Oh,well, probably too late to the party.

        • Then there's the French error message which prevents the payment page from opening.

EDIT: see above, $1000 cards won't work.
