  • Or add another $10 gets you 640gb
or add another $20 gets you 750gb

  • Looks like it's another 1-deal-per-day site…

    • Thats is what it says right under their name.

      • He's aware it is obvious and that they are not trying to disguise it. The comment was probably due to his (and mine and many others') dislike in such sites.

        • Sorry. I was just making a personal note to update the relevant wiki page, that's all. Sorry for those who tried to guess what I meant :)

  • Hardly a deal. Might as well get it from MSY for $85.

    • If you can. Whilst they advertise them, them actually having them in stock is another thing.

My son tried to get 2 x of the 750GB ones, but no stock for last 2 weeks.

Despite the comments below the Samsungs actually have good reviews.

    • Yep, especially considering shipping costs from this place.

  • yeah they charge $14.95 for shipping

  • samsung and maxtor, ignore it.
you'll save a few bucks but it aint worth the heartache when it fails.

    • Maybe with Maxtor but Samsung is fine.

Back up your claims next time.

      • A mate of mine used to work for Samsung's warranty claim (they contracted it out to a Sydney company) and he worked in the HDD and optical drive "department". I won't share his comments here, but he's glad that he has got a new job now :)

      • i bought 2x of these samsung harddrives when they first came out, due to their severely low prices.
about 2-3 months ago my mate bought one also. 2 weeks later it died.

the trouble of setting up a computer and personalising everything, migrating your old files/settings, and only to lose it all 2 weeks later is a massive pain.

when looking up info on why it failed, there are alot of comments such as "9 months later, it started clicking and one day it wouldnt load anymore"
unfortunately, i dont have the links handy (as it was quite some time ago)
i know some reviews were on newegg though

as for me, ive bought a 1tb external to back everything up on a weekly basis. its been about 10 months since ive had my computer now, and for the past week i can hear one of my samsung drives are clicking, its quite easy to hear at night when im about to go sleep. trouble is, i just dont know which one.

        edit
its a shame, 9 months is a bit too soon for a hdd to die. most hdds ive used generally cork it around the 5yr mark, which is fairly reasonable given the type of technology being used.

  • All hard drives can fail. I've had a few Seagates die.

  • Personally, I found Samsung harddisks to be very reliable, been using lots of them for years and none have failed so far.
    They're good value for money.
