    quick check:
    $2000 gift card = 40,000 flybuy points = $200 flybuy dollars = 10% off with limited usage

    not too bad I suppose

    • I got a free Apple Watch Ultra and $1k off iPhone with flybuys. Deals like this are gooooood

      • What?

        • +1

They add up. Just with regular grocery shopping and bonus offers there's enough points to buy flagship Apple products each year, or at last have them heavily discounted by 50% or more

          • @freelife: Can you buy GV’s with Flybuys?

            • @Maxdax: Based on my last convo with the store about a year ago - NO.

    • +2

50K flybuy limit per day though, so that would equate to $2,500 gift card

quick question, how can I use apple gc to pay ato bill?

    • -1

      Also keen to know

    • Buy Apple product using the gc and then sell it off at EBay or Gumtree. You can now use this money to pay ato bill 😄

    • Get GC and give me a call. I can pay on your behalf

  • +3

Does anyone know if apple gift cards can be used to purchase applecare+?
    Thanks in advance

    • +4

Yes you can. Keep the cards in the physical form instead of top it up into your account, and purchase AC+ from a local Apple retail store. You’ll need to get your device checked by someone for physical damage, but the in-store EasyPay system allows you to pay for anything they offer with Apple GC.

      • While I’m not sure if this method is still valid or not, you absolutely cannot use Apple gift cards to pay for AppleCare+ on your device

The reason I’m not sure if it’s valid in store, is that on one of my many recent calls with Apple Support they said gift cards cannot be used to pay for AppleCare+ at all

        • Believe it’s valid. I used gift card to buy AC+ in store last year on my iPad Pro.

          • @pgsheng: Apple Support told me since the release of the iPhone 15 series, gift cards cannot be used for AppleCare+

I didn’t actually ask if it was valid in store, because that’s a 4 hour drive for me, but the JB HiFi manager who helped me in processing a refund on the cards was told the same as me - gift cards cannot be used for AppleCare+

Someone closer to a store could always go in and ask, but personally (and from my recent experience) I’d like to know before buying the cards

            • @linkindan: Apple support can be clueless. Once they told me I needed an active subscription to watch the TV shows I bought on iTunes I was like wtf they were talking about

        • +4

All (literally) AC+ I bought (that's iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Pro M2 and MBA M2) are with Apple GC. The most recent one is 8 days after iPhone 15 Pro first released (because you can only buy AC+ after the 7-day complementary expires). I even got my Apple Pencil out-of-pocket replacement paid by gift cards.

Tried and true in Apple Fountain Gate, Apple Chadstone and Apple Doncaster. No questions asked at all. Just works.

If you ask Apple support online, they'll tell you no because they don't support such purchase. AC+ online or on-device can only pay by credit/debit cards. However practically everything in retail store can be paid by gift card, again, because they charge via EasyPay, and EasyPay gives you the option to pay by Apple GC.

Do NOT top up the Apple GC into your account - pay by account in retail store is ONLY supported in the US. Not anywhere else in the world.

          • +1

@xmagic: Yes you can I did it yesterday. They have to be physical apple gift cards.

      • +2

Apparently you can ONLY use your Apple ID funds (which GC credit are added to) to purchase AppleCare of it's in the same transaction as a new iPhone which you're also paying from Apple ID funds. Otherwise you cannot buy standalone AppleCare with said funds.

    • -1

If you already have AppleCare you can load the funds to your account as they deduct from your balance before your credit card.

      • +1

I believe that's not true but definitely correct me - AC+ now supports monthly extensions after the first 2 or 3 years expires, and as far as I know that needs to be bound to a credit/debit card.

The biggest problem is that in Australia most products comes with a 7-day complementary AC+ that prevents people from purchase 2/3-year AC+ plan at the time of purchase, that's why paying for AC+ with Apple GC has to be done via an Apple retail store and EasyPay.

        • Ah this is probably me. Monthly extension is now credit card rather than Apple balance.

      • +1

They don't do this any more as of September.

        • -1

Yes your right the manager at broadway told me the monitor ozb to close loop holes 😂

    • +2

I’ve had applecare since Nov 2021. For the last 2 months it was being deducted out of my credit card despite having $1200 account balance.

You can check your subscriptions in your account. All of my subs are listed as “renew dd/mm” but AppleCare is “next billing date dd/mm”.

    • For anyone still researching this, I purchased AppleCare+ with Apple gift cards (3100, 120) this arvo for my iPhone 15. I made the transaction in store (the 7 day complementary coverage period ended yesterday) and had no with the transaction.

  • +1

Post Apple “scary fast event” … this might get expensive :|

  • +3

Don’t forget that you can no longer use your Account Balance to pay for AppleCare+!

    • -1

Unless it's in the same transaction as a new iPhone. Apparently that's possible

      • +1

I don’t see how, I just purchased one and you don’t have the option to buy AppleCare+ at the same time. It comes loaded as like a thingy in the phone and you can’t buy it for the first 7days (maybe it was 14, I forget, but it was annoying!)
Do you have a link to where it says we can buy at the same time because I want to wave it at them if that’s the case, I asked to buy it when I was buying the phone.

Edit: was correct the first time, it is 7days https://www.apple.com/au/support/products/iphone/

    • -3

You should be able to load the funds to your account as they deduct from your balance before your credit card.

      • +2

        Not anymore

      • Definitely not. I had a few hundred in my Apple balance and I recently added AppleCare but they deducted from my cc instead, didn't touch the Apple balance.

      • +1

No they have changed the policy, AppleCare+ cannot be paid for with your account balance.

  • Why not just load it into your account, and purchase it from the phone later?

    • Can’t do this as of iPhone 15 release

      • What do you mean? Their website still says you can use your account balance to purchase physical items. Is that not true?

        • +1

          Physical products, yes
All Apple services excluding AppleCare+, yes
          AppleCare+, no

          • @linkindan: Ah I see, the original message was meant to be a continuation of the thread above. I thought it was talking about using the account balance in general :D

  • Is there a limit as to how many GC’s you can use to pay for an Apple product? Assume not?

    • Also can we confirm if you can buy a iPhone 15 pro max solely with these gift cards??

      • +1

Yes you can, you just need to load them into your Apple ID first. I did this with an Everyday Rewards offer earlier in the year

      • I preordered one after buying $3000 worth of Apple gift cards during a 15% off promotion from the Coles online gift cards website and had used a small amount of the balance (had added it to my Apple ID so it was getting used for iCloud subscription) and only trouble I ran into was the preorder wouldn’t go through unless I paid for the phone in full using the balance (it got stuck when trying to pay ~$30 off Apple Pay and rest from balance). Only realised later in the night that if I covered the amount in full from balance, the preorder would go through fine and so now I’ve got a delivery window of early-mid November for mine 😩

    • +1

No. You load them into your Apple account then use the balance to pay for the iPhone.

    • +1

You can use up to eight Apple Gift Cards for one transaction at apple.com and the Apple Retail Store. You can also combine your Apple Gift Card(s) with one credit/debit card to pay for your purchase. Source

But as ppl have said before - add it to your account and you should be able to bypass that limit.

  • +3

I think I’ll hold out for another 15% off deal and load up ready for back to school sale early next year to buy an M3 MacBook Pro 14” 😁

    • I would love to wait for it. But the last time that was a year ago.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/656176
      Maybe next year?

      • +2

Nah see JuiceWRLD’s comment - I got them then 👍🏻
(although at this rate, they do seem to be ‘once a year’ sales - I’m hoping Black Friday sales is when they might be 15% off again 🤞🏻)

    • +2

A deal like this is what you need

  • Hi Ozbargainers, I am planning to get iPhone 15 pro by trading in old iPhone 11. My query is if I use gift card to purchase the new iPhone, will I get the trade in refund amount as Apple gift card?

Or is there a way, I can deduct the trade in amount and pay only the excess amount using gift card.

This will be my first time for apple trade in as well as using apple gift card.

    Thanks

    • Last trade in I got a gift card, it took me a long phone call to get it refunded as cash

  • Does Coles have $500 Apple Gift cards?

    • There are variable load cards (max $500) , not sure if this applies to them as well?

      • Page 40 of the Coles catalogue does show variable load cards however the terms and conditions don’t specifically mention beyond $200 for some reason 🤷🏻‍♂️

        • hmmm
Probably >$200 are not included in this offer? It says selected gift cards :-?
          I don't take risk, won't buy >$200

          • +3

@mkowarkski: They never include examples of how many points the variable load cards will earn but they've always been included in past offers. If the $20-500 card was not part of this offer they A, would not have included a picture of it, and B, would have listed it in the exclusions alongside the fixed value $20 card.

            • @VantageXL: Thank you. Makes sense

            • +1

@VantageXL: I've just had a confirmation from Flybuys that only $30, $50, $100 and $200 GC are eligible for the bonus points. Sucks as bought a few $500 cards and now I cant return them to Coles.

              • +1

@Sidy: I called yesterday and the lady from Flybuys cannot say yes or no.
I'm hoping it will still come through as I've purchased the variable load. Except that it's taking longer to show in the Flybuys app :(

                • @csozb: also with 50,000 points max daily make sense with 5 card max at $500 each.
Still crossing my finger it will show in the next couple of days.

                  • +1

@csozb: @csozb just had a look at my Flybuys and points have arrived. Strange as I have a text from Flybuys saying only $30, $50, $100 and $200 GC are eligible for the bonus points and yet points have posted.

                    • @Sidy: Thanks for confirming will grab a $500 one

              • +5

@Sidy: The points from the $20-500 card I bought yesterday arrived for me as well.

  • What’s the best way to utilise this deal for Apple purchase? Is it essentially 10% off a larger purchase? EG $2500 in gift cards are worth 50,000 points, which can be redeemed for a $250 Apple gift card ?

  • No problem using this online to buy iPhone right? Just load it all on Wallet?

    • Yes you can have up to $4999 in your Apple Account Balance.

      • Can I stack the Apple GC + shopback?

  • +2

I just bought five $500 gift cards, but I haven't received any Flybuys points yet. Is this normal? Does anyone know how long it takes to get those points?

Edit: Flybuys points collected at Coles Group stores are usually added to your Flybuys account within one or two days after purchase.

    Nvm lol

    • Did you buy the Variable Load ones? Or did you find the $500 cards (my local only has $200 max)

      • +1

I bought the variable load ones

    • +1

can take upto 5 days, worst case scenario!

    • I've just had a confirmation from Flybuys that only $30, $50, $100 and $200 GC are eligible for the bonus points. Sucks as bought a few $500 cards and now I cant return them to Coles

      • +2

This is not true. I've bought multiple variable load cards, all with $500, and just received the points

  • Hey guys just confirming there’s no limit on how many gift cards per day? Just can’t earn over 50,000 flybuys in a day?

    • I was told 5 cards max per day at my local…..

      • Same here. I asked them to show me where this is stated. Couldn't do that - told me "that's how it is".
Flybuys customer service on the phone weren't even aware of the offer and asked if I could email it to them….:)

  • +4

Bought 8x variable load gift cards (500AUD each) using 2 different accounts (5 in one and 3 in the other one) yesterday around 6:30 am. Just received the points.

  • Any way to use the flybuys pts received to redeem Apple gift cards?

  • +1

Beware, purchased 1k+ worth of GCs and later found out the Serial# (sequence to the top right of the barcode) doesn't match that on the card inside.
    These cards are tampered with.
I also noticed that the shell is very difficult to pry open after peeling the strip. Print quality of inside is worse than outside.

Went back to store later and was told by the staff they can't help me and was given a number, will try contacting tomorrow. Staff also mentioned that today there were multiple occasions people returned for this issue.
Also help wanted as it is my first time dealing with situations like this. Thanks.

    • Exact same situation. See story in comment below.

    • How did you go?

      • +1

Called Coles on Saturday however they just said they will investigate this. Went to the store again and asked to meet store manager, was given a refund on the spot.

  • +10

    ALERT
Bought a gift card from Coles near lilydale. $200 but there was $20 gift card in it. Packaging was sealed.

Went back to store next day, they didn't listen at first.

I then asked them to pick a couple of $200 and will buy them to test them.

Supervisor picked one and after the payment, opened the one in front of him. it was $100 gift card in it.

In the end, got the refund of $400 back.

Be mindful of these purchase, better open it before leaving the store or check out.

  • +2

Same issue from a $100 card purchased today at Doncaster VIC. Outer packaging was $100 and the inside card was $50, which could not be redeemed. Apple chat directed me to return to Coles and thankfully Coles were good enough to refund.

Best avoid buying these. Local store has now taken them all off their shelves.

  • +2

    warning

Bought a 500 card today. Got home, realised the bottom of the gift card envelope was cut. Seal was intact, you could only notice the cut after removing the seal and “opening” the envelope. Once seal was removed the envelope lid actually came off completely because it was cut. it was really carefully done. Inside the envelope, a 50 AUD gift card paper (inactive, useless).

Bottomline, someone seems to have been through the trouble of stealing the original gift card and replacing it with another one (to gain time before victim realises?). Fortunately I was able to call Apple and deactivate the card before anyone was able to use it. Now I am waiting to see what they will do about it.

Coles store staff said I was the second victim to report the problem on the same day. They took the remaining cards off the shelves as a result.

  • Hi Everyone,

How long do the points take to arrive? I bought $500 with of ($100 and $200 dominations) but no FB points?

    • 1 day for me for my purchases, but can take up to 5 apparently

      • I also got it credited within 48 hours this time.

  • +1
  • Anyone know where I am able to check the giftcard balance without loading it to my Apple ID?

  • So if my math is correct, if I buy 3 x variable $500 gc, I will be able to:

    • Add $1500 into my Apple account
    • Order online to get an Iphone 15 / buy from the shop
    • Make the payment using the apple balance / physical gift cards
    • Convert flybuys point that you get from Coles (which equates to 20 x 1500 points = 30,000 points) into flybuys dollar (30,000 points => translated as $150 flybuys dollar)
    • Use that flybuys dollar for grocery / other things from Flybuys

    Correct?

    Thanks
