This previously popular Wuben flashlight is back on sale for $27.99 for those who are after something which is bright, small and low price. After all these Wuben sales I've built the collection and they work well in completely dark underground tunnels.

It has a P9 LED with 1200 lumens, 6 light modes (high/medium/low/eco/strobe/sos), 160° wide beam angle, USB-C recharging, IP68 water resistance and a rechargeable 18650 battery. Expect around 143 hours battery life on eco, 3.5 hours on medium and 2.5 hours on high.

  • Tick the 30% off coupon under the price

A few handy tips: When you receive the torch be sure to remove the plastic film on the battery otherwise you'll think you have a DOA.

The included 18650 battery is generic so I recommend replacing it with your own at some point. Besides the big brands I can recommend the Liitokala Lii-35A batteries if you want something cheaper.

Wu-Ben Clan aint nuttin ta !@#$ wit!

    • +1

Not enough credit being given for this terrible/amazing WuTang reference

    • +1

      Wu-Ben is for the children.

      • Hmmmm?

  • Which one is better - This or Sofirn SC31 Pro?

    • +1

The Wuben C3 is good if you want a lot of light close. The SC31 Pro has a cooler tint so it looks brighter and has a wider beam so it's more suitable for long distance.

      • +4

What tint (colour temp) is the C3? SC31 has two 5000K (neutral) and 6500K (coolish). Wide beam is generally for flooding ("close up" fill), narrow beam for throw (distance).

This image might help EU: https://preview.redd.it/n7d38ioj60c61.jpg?width=1080&crop=sm…

C3 is tail switch which many prefer.

        • Dr Google found you the review I copied my info from.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/s/qUpd6Ys2kA

          • @Clear: Yes google did find the image. Why is that an issue? Just one bloke's comparison but it appeared to show what you were trying to explain. What "tint" is the C3?

Three things I'd suggest people looking for a 'decent' torch do some basic research on. 10 or 15 mins max should do:
            (1) Learn about beams - flood/throw/hotspots, otherwise you may be disappojnted that the one you buy isn't what you expected. Plenty of videos and images around which compare beams or simply show a torch in real-life action.
            (2) Learn about colour "tint" aka temperature of the emitter (LED). Again there are many graphs and images which show the differences between warm (eg 3000K), cool (6500K) and neutral/natural (5000K). Allied to that is CRI (color rendering index). High CRI eg 90 means "better" colour reproduction. Users may or may not care about accurate colour.
            (3) Learn a little about lumens and how torches manage brightness, drain, and heat. Quoted max lumens are almost invariably very short run times.

            • @Igaf:

              What "tint" is the C3?

You tell me. Dr Google can find you the answer if you really want to know. I don't.

              • @Clear: You made the tint statement without knowing? I'm shocked /s.

                • @Igaf: Or if you read the link you'll know I quoted what they said about the SC31 having a cooler tint.

                  • @Clear: Pays to read more widely than reddit. The SC31 has two tints, one of which is neutral, while the Wuben Osram is stated as "cold white" (no spec as far as I can see). Hence the usefulness of images IF tint is important to users. Anecdotally neutral/warm appears to be what most prefer.

                    • +1

@Igaf: I have a couple of Wuben torches and don't like the tint at all. Far too cold.

    • +1

SC31 is a little better, but at this price the Wuben is the winner.

  • +2

Just dont leave it on in your pocket… will give you 3rd degree burns

    • But then you can use the torch to signal to the medical evacuation helicopter

  • +1

Is this worth it for a torch to leave around the house for power outages or one for the car?

    • Yep!

    • +1

I wouldn't leave a lithium cell in my car because of the heat when parking in the sun.
I think something with alkaline batteries would be better but honestly I think it's just use my phone.

      • +3

Not alkaleaks; better to use nimh rechargeables or lithium primaries.

      • Most modern glove boxes are fairly well insulated. Get a white car with a good tint. I can leave cold drinks in my VW glove box for an hour or two in the sun and they stay cool

        • +2

Sounds like a new inner-city model: VW Glovebox

    • +1

No. General advice is to stumble around in the dark.

  • How good is the battery it comes with? Should we buy a new battery?

    • Standard 18500

    • I have 2 of these torches, oldest is 3 years and used at least 10 times per week over the last 2 years, still using the original (generic) battery, needs charging every 2 weeks or so.

    • Is the battery replaceable on this?

      • Yes, as it is on pretty much 99+% of (decent) torches. Rechargeable lithiums aren't cheap though. Start at ~$10.

  • +2

Got the shingding version at Bunnings $7.99 usbc too and it has red and blue and blinks individually and is flat and has magnet and can smash glasses if required

  • Unreliable. Mine died after only 3 months of light usage

    • +9

      light usage, that’s brilliant

    • So even with a new battery it didn't work?

      • Yes I tried a new battery too
I have a wuben headtorches and that one seems OK so far.
I don't know how or if you can make a warranty claim thru Amazon so my C3 is basically junk unfortunately

        • +2

You can and it’s very easy

    • Really? Mustve got a dud… i use mine 6 days a week and have had it almost 2 years.

      • Possibly.
        Warranty is an issue.
It's not via Amazon I assume.

        • +1

Fulfilled by Amazon so you can contact customer service via live chat.

  • Can recommend. Mine still going strong after 10 months of heavy light usage.

Good price, too. I paid $32 in December '22.

  • +2

Admin have marked it expired yet I can still buy one with incl discount coming to $27.99

  • Ordered one. Tks

  • Prefer headlamps, easier to do things. Any bargains on those?

  • Thanks, Op!

  • Back to 40bux with discount - :-(

    • No…

      Items $36.35
      Delivery $0.00
      Total before GST $36.35
      GST $3.64
      Total $39.99

      Promotion Applied: -$12.00

Gift Card / Certificate Balance -$27.99

  • 30% off coupon under the price is no longer available.

  • Missed it, but already have two. These are great torches. One you get used to the feather touch to change brightness levels.

Cannot recommend these enough. At $28, four or five spread around the house, just leave the plastic bit in the end bit else they will go flat - same advice to most people, either take the batteries out if no long term use our those simple plastic discs that stop your circuit.

    Agree on the 18500 battery.

Fill in your warranty card for two years.

Wuben are under rated as torches. They aren’t cheap, most have some level of water and dirt proofing however C2 on the highest setting it about all you need unless you want to go spotlighting.

Wuben have solutions for that too.

    I’m a fan.

Olight are supposed to be a good brand if you believe John Cadogen who has been sponsored by OLight in the past.

Aussie Disposals has a huge collection of torches for a variety of uses, but scary price tags too.

People used to tell me Ledlenser were/are the best you can get with a price tag to match. Sure some come in a nice storage case, but like anything you need do serious research as a few LedLensers I looked at were into the three figure market and I’m thinking maybe it’s just a brand name thing.?

I had a MagSafe that used to take four or five D Size batteries on the preLED days. Doubles as a self defence tool. Knew Plex of taxi drivers who had them clipped under the seat.

  • This is the 1 that the usb port wouldn't take the cable connection. I feel no more Wubin for me. Bitten.
