Don't know why it's so popular tgeir prices are more expensive.
The only good thing is their return policy if you are a memberAgreed.
From my experience they can be cheaper than other places particularly if you wait for the specials. Not everything is cheaper but I do not expect it to be.
And if you are a true ozbargainer you'd know the unit price of goods and also find a way to check the prices against other places and know which are a bargain and which are not.
For example:
Beef Mince-
Costco: $9.00/kg (and damn good quality)
ColesWorth: $12-16/kg (average quality)Pork Mince-
Costco: $8.00/kg
ColesWorth: $10/kg (at least)And petrol
…well.. i save 20-50 cents/Litre where I amplus:
I only shop 1x month and over just a few months have over $17 back in bonus dollars.The non grocery items are often cheaper as well. Particularly if you go to the scratch and dent areas.
@FredAstair: Usually somewhere near the checkout areas. It is demo stock, damaged stock and stuff they are just getting rid of. Check the pricing because sometimes it is just normal price. Also look out for stock with prices ending with .X7; it is clearance stock. Take a photo and keep an eye on the checkout price. Sometimes it hasn’t been changed in the system.
Online look at the Last Chance option. That can also have decent priced stuff. I’ve seen stuff in store that is cheaper online in the Last Chance section.
I agree however their Food is cheap, decent.. Hot dogs are Junk but pizza and soft serve are good… Roasterie BBQ chickens as well.. thats about it, whether thats worth $65 a year not sure..
And in addition you pay a stupid membership fee. No thank you.

Used to have a membership, stopped shopping when I realised it wasn't worth it. Makes you wonder though, all this talk about Colesworth price gouging and yet here's Costco with a warehouse, a membership fee, you have to buy things in bulk, and it's still barely cheaper..

Because the place will probably be packed with people having a look.
I try to avoid Costco at weekends because the crowds can be nuts.
Only this one NSW store.. Unless someone confirms VIC store as well.. even then.. its pretty short notice so i doubt you would notice the difference… Mind you ANYONE at any time can "have a look". Happens regularly.. Nothing stopping someone signing up paying $65.. then aftrwards going back to membership, getting a full refund and going home.

Probably because the nearby roads (Richmond Road and Parramatta Road) are already chaotic enough as they currently are
