Ozito PXC 18V 2.5AH Battery And Charger $24.98 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

1180

Great deal on this. Currently the battery on its own is $39.90 and charger is $24.98

There is another kit which is $69 and the only difference I can see is the battery is all black in this post and the $69 one in the link below has some red on it.. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-2-5ah-battery-and-…

I guess we will soon see a lot of chargers on FB/Gumtree etc!

Plenty of stock at all stores as of posting. https://nrby.in/bunnings/0501102

Link appears to be playing up. Seems to happen a lot with these type of deals at Bunnings.
Anyway, until its rectified. it comes up with this one. https://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?page=1&q=ozito+2…

  • Slightly bigger battery compared to the last deal. Although it seems to be RRP for a while according to Price Hipster. Still cheaper than the Power X Bundle.

    • what is the difference between this and the Power X variant?

      • +1

        I don't think there is a difference.

      • Black label whatever that means.

        • I prefer jw double black

      • difference between this and the Power X variant

I assume the latter has better quality battery cells.
So many people get crazy for these tools by just looking at the price by they never wonder quality wise what they buy.
But I guess people love Bunnings return policy!

        • +5

Teardowns of the limited run "black" discounted 4Ah batteries and the normal "red" versions showed them using the same cells IIRC.

These are probably the same. I am curious though, and have a "red" version, so when the black one arrives, I will open them up and compare. It's certainly possible they do a run of lower quality cells, but it may be hard to tell without hardcore longevity testing.

But likely the different variants are just for stock control when doing voluntary price matching and other discounts. By having the discounted batteries etc as a separate product, it means when OzBargainers buy out all the discount stock in battery mad FOMO (I bought two!), then the normal batteries are still in stock for anyone who walks into store or looks online for Ozito batteries.

        • +1

The red and black 2.5ah batteries actually use the exact same cells. In fact, they're the same 2.6ah cells that the 5.2ah uses.
I wish they did a cheap multipack of 5.2ah…

        • Yeah its the warranty that does it, 5 year replacement warranty on a $50 tool, honestly its an amazing win for DIY/hobbyists, thats better than some professional level tools.

  • +1

Would it compatible with Power X charger and battery?

  • +5

These 2.5Ah are a good size for smaller hand-held tools because they aren't quite as heavy, but still give you plenty of runtime.

    • +5

There are also some tools, at least the mouse sander, that doesn’t fit the bigger 4a batteries properly.

  • +5

Currently the battery on its own is $39.90

Frustrates the (profanity) out of me. Dropkicks just manufacture this shit for landfill.

Fix your bloody product lines so people aren't buying chargers when they probably already have them.

    • +2

100%. I just want the battery and happy to pay $20 for it.
      Keep the charger.

    • +2

It's actually a product line "feature", rather than an issue. The non discounted bundle with battery and charger is $69.

When doing voluntary price matching or large battery discounts, Bunnings often uses a limited run of pretty much identical (usually black stickers, rather than red) products under a separate product code.

That helps (for example) control the amount of stock sold at the discount price. Which means when battery crazed OzBargainers buy out stock Australia wide, when someone walks into store, there are still normal price batteries, chargers and bundles available.

The interesting question here is are they price matching something? Or just doing a limited run of cheap stock.

      • +1

        I think you nailed it

      • I was thinking the same about the price. I did a search for the likely places but couldnt come up with anything. Perhaps its a cash in pre Black Friday.

  • +1

Found the 2 and 2.5 last ages for my wiper snipper and drills, only in the air blower they struggle.

  • wasn't it 19.99 during fathers day?

    • Yep several times.

    • +4

I don't believe we have seen the 2.5Ah black battery before, or a discount for the 2.5Ah and charger bundle.

I suspect you are thinking of the 2.0Ah and charger deal from September, which was also $24.98.

On which you commented you thought it was $19 last year… It wasn't, but $19.98 for the 2.0Ah in Sep 2022 is closer at least ;)

  • +2

The direct link appears to no longer work. Which has happened before with Bunnings discounted products IIRC, but I am not sure if it was because the sale was a mistake, or just to slow down OzBargain traffic :P

If you search "PXBC-25B" or the I/N number (0501102) then you can still find it.

If the product page also starts to 404 from the search results, previoulsy what still worked for a while was directly clicking the add to cart button in the search results page.

  • How does Ozito compare to other brands such as Bosch, Ryobi, homelite, Dewalt, Makita, Stihl etc?

    • +4

Ozito is more for your Home Brand and DIYer. But I cannot fault them, I have most of the Ozito stuff and its great. Not using it full time, but for the weekend work and home stuff it does the job.

I've got the power tools and some of the garden stuff.

I look at it and go, it is cheap so it if last 2 years and then I need to buy a new one, I am still in front compared to buying a larger brand like Dewalt or Bosch.

    • +2

i have dewalt, bosch, makita aldi and ozito ecosystems, they all seem to optimise deals to get you in, and once you have charger and a battery you focus on deals not ecosystem and build from there e.g just got another bosch rotary hammer drill as it has 5ah battery redemption but no chargerin the deal, that's OK as I already have charger, I've had no problems with ozito but all mine are brushless, have 36v brushless mower, 18v rotary hammer, brushless impact driver and a brushless drill and brushless angle grinder, for DIY they are fine if you get the skin you want.

    • +6

Oizto is aimed at normal home use, so tend not to have the higher end products that suit commercial use. It's a local rebadging of a German designed (but chinese built) brand called Einhell.

The tools range from mildly cheaper, to much cheaper, but are often a bit less powerful. You won't see the extra high power tools or higher voltages other brands have.

The overall variety of Ozito products is pretty good, and being able to buy them cheaper when Bunnings price matches makes the bang for buck even better. The 5 year replacement warranty is excellent. (3 years for batteries). I use and like most of the garden tools, despite a few minor niggles.

In my experience, overall the tools are robust and hard to kill. Some are better than others, and they are certainly not flawless. The batteries have decent longevity, and while there are limited options for higher capacities and voltages, the basic 4Ah batteries are often so cheap you can have a bunch of them for much less than a single battery from other brands.

I have killed a reciprocating saw by working it very hard for years (including many a home reno) and eventually the brushes gave up after some extended sawing up of old hardwood fencing. Walked into Bunnings about 4 years after buying it, handed over the sorriest non working tool you have ever seen, was handed a new one, and off I went. I have a brushless hammer drill which an occasionally sticky chuck. Maybe in a few years (before the warranty runs out) I will go get it swapped for a new one.

I haven't killed any batteries. Including ones I have used for other projects, such as retrofitting to a cordless stick vacuum cleaner. The Ozito battery has lasted about three times as long as the original vacuum battery, with the same usage.

Overall, I think they are a great option for home use, and will happily do most things tools twice the price do - just a touch slower.

    • +2

My cordless tools consist of around 50% Makita, 20% Ryobi and 30% Ozito. And yes, I probably have too many tools, lol… And yes the Makita stuff is nicer to use and better quality. But I am very happy with the Ozito tools I have. They all work very well and are certainly excellent value.

Also you really cant lose with the warranty. 5 year replacement or refund on tools and 3 years on batteries and chargers.

    • Not even close - ozito is made for hobbyist/DIYers - they make that abundantly clear on all their advertising for ozito kit.

Having said that, 5 years warranty on a lot of their kit, I know a lot of mechanics that buy their stuff and just throw away and replace under warranty whenever something breaks on them. They use professional spec tools for the big boy stuff like half inch rattle gun etc but the smaller stuff is all ozito - their opinion to me has always been along the lines of "fifty bucks for a rattle gun with 5 years warranty is a no brainer, id keep paying that every 5 years just to have constant replacements whenever they broke". It seems the hit/miss rate for ozito tools is good enough in the professional sphere to just use and replace as needed.

I am not a mechanic but I am hands on and I have a spread of dewalt tools for the heavy duty stuff and the rest of my kit is ozito - the nice bonus is that ozito does a cheap and cheerful garden maintenence line which means I can use the same brand to maintain the nature strips and front yard of our business.

  • Good news for Famiglia Ozito! thanks OP

  • +1

they also have $99 for 2 x 4ah and dual battery charger depending on what people need.

  • First use of my newly acquired onepass membership, pretty grouse!

  • +2

It has been $19.99 countless times. Seems inflation has hit Ozito.

    • +2

To be fair, I think the last time it was that price was over a year ago. And that was with a 2.0ah battery and this kit is with a 2.5ah. But yes, inflation has hit Ozito. Prices have definitely gone up up overall in the last couple of years.

    • +2

When was the 2.5Ah battery and charger combo on sale?

I am pretty sure this is the first time we have seen the 2.5Ah "black" battery.

I never got around to opening up my "red" 2.5Ah battery, but IIRC these use 21700 cells, so are a pretty great deal for $25. And much better than the recent 2.0Ah battery and charger combo for $25, or even when it was $20 a year ago.

      • +3

        These contain 20650 IXR21/66 MH46259 2600mah cells.

        • +1

          Ahhh excellent info, thank you.

  • Thanks OP! Four of these for $100 is pretty sweet. Got a deal on a cheap powerboard?

  • These would have been FIRE if I didn't already start the Bosch ecosystem last week with the 2 drill set that was posted here.. 😅

Can anyone convince me to actually go down the Ozito path instead (and subsequently making me grab a few of these batteries before they sell out.. 😅)

    • +1

Haha, there are a few good reasons. 5 year warranty on tools, 3 on batteries and chargers. Wide range of tools. Tools are quite good and well priced, at even full retail. Very frequent bargain deals like this one.

I have Makita, Ryobi and Ozito, Happy with all the Ozito gear so far. I just cant justify spending a heap more to buy Makita for tools I use less frequently and for outdoor tools like a mower, blower etc.

Take a look through some past deals in the link below.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/ozito%20pxc%20type%…

    • Don't get conned into the idea that you need to stick with a particular brand.. Almost all of the deals worth actually considering from any brand across the board will almost certainly provide a battery and charger in the pack too.

The main reason why Ozito will forever remain in my stable of tools as a professional is because the price of the tools + the 5 year warranty makes it a very easy buy. Bunnings is hardly sticklers for returns too, I have walked in with some pretty beaten up tools and a tatty receipt for them to replace it on the spot no questions asked, sometimes I just bring the skin even though it was bought with the battery and charger and still haven't had an issue. If its a tool you aren't using daily then ozito is the way to go imo.

This better than that of Ryobi ones. Crook Ryobi was spamming to sell their new items, who cares your new items w/o any offer. I finally blocked those crooks as well as spamming Bunnings.

    • +2

      Username definately check out.

  • Ordered one, thanks OP

  • Last time the 2Ah kit was on sale i ordered for pickup. They couldn’t find the stock so gave me 2.5Ah kits instead. Only difference I’ve noticed is they had green led instead of red for the battery charge indicator. Not sure if these are the sane ones.

    • Or the insane ones.

  • +1

Gentle reminder to go over to eBay and buy an adaptor for whatever system you have. I have a heap of makita batteries, and the $20 ryobi adaptor paid for itself instantly.

They’re not available in any retail outlet for obvious licensing reasons, and they’re not a major fire risk - they are all the same inside, just some are crappier than others.

    There’s also some printable ones.

    • Thanks for the tip, but to go from Ryobi to Ozzito, or Ozzito to Ryobi battery with an adaptor is around $40,

so need to weigh up to make this worth it. Also not sure if this will fit the tools I need because of the extra

width as well as odd ballance this produces.

      • +1

Ryobi batteries are the most inconvenient system to convert from because of the large ‘internal thing’ (not sure what else to all it).

My main motivation is to avoid having too many chargers, and the fa t that I have lots of makita batteries already.

I’m currently printing a makita > ozito one - it’s only about $3 worth of filament (plus 2 hours work). For some reason this combo seems to be to most expensive at around $40..

  • I'm in the ozito, ryobi and bosch ecosystems and the only batteries that have died on me are ozito (3 have died). They must use dodgier batteries than the other brands

    • +2

Interesting, I have only been in the Ozito system for about 2 years and had no failures yet, but I guess time will tell. I have had 2 Ryobi batteries fail but they were the first generation of lithium ion and out of warranty..No problems with Ryobi since.

I was also heavily into Milwaukee for work for about 5 years before switching to Makita, and with Milwaukee I had 2 x batteries fail, 2 x chargers, 1 rotary hammer and a ratchet fail. All replaced under warranty, so nothing more than an inconvenience.

Had Makita for about 7 years now and nothing so far but they are no longer used for work, so not getting near as much work.

Should add the only reason I swapped to Makita was there were a couple of their tools I liked a bit better. I was happy with Milwaukee while I had them.

    • Can I ask what charger you were using? I wonder if it was the fast charger that may have done it? I have an older much slower charging system and my batteries are about 5 years old now still holding enough charge to do 3 nature strips and some leaf blowing on two 2ah batteries.

  • Still a pallet at Pimpama hidden in the middle of Ryobi stuff near service counter

  • Went to Bunnings yesterday to get this. There's a pile of them at the entrance to the section. At the counter someone was trying to get a refund for a couple of faulty Ozito batteries. The ones that he purchased were not in stock and purchased from different Bunnings so the staff weren't sure if they can issue refund.

Also ended up with an Ozito hammer drill since without any tools I can't use the battery!

    • +1

Likely a new staff member unsure of the policy more than anything else. I have been to 5 different bunnings now to exchange busted ozito skins and batteries and they hardly even look at the receipt, just confirm its for the right tool and its good to go. Ill go fish out the replacement tool for them and bring both to the desk, usually in and out within 10 minutes, they don't even bother testing its almost like a swap n go lmfao.

  • Would 4 X 2.5Ah be better than 2 X 4.0Ah?
Comparing to this deal - would both be $100
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806179

Theoretically get more total (10Ah vs 8Ah), but I see people reporting higher power on 4.0Ah batteries due to internal cell voltages being lower.

Would be used in lawn tools (blower, edger, trimmer).

    • Without getting all technical, the 4.0ah batteries can supply more current than the 2.5ah. So for your intended usage, go with the 4.0ah batteries.

      • Interestingly the difference is smaller than I realised. Still more from the 4Ah of course, but the 20650s in the 2.5Ah batteries are rated for 35A output.

        Vs 25A for the 18650 4Ah. (5S2P though)

Einhell rate the 4Ah fr 900W. And the 2.5Ah for 720W.
