  • this has usb port / micro sdcard slot that i can insert a cart full of mp3 and play the songs from the speaker without connecting to phone/pc?

    • This speaker has BT5.1, if your phone or PC has BT function then you can connect with this speaker

      • thanks but i just need self operate speaker without needing anything else, for my old parents

      • +1

        I think it's the 1380 that has 5.1..

These have been out for a few years, I think it may he 4.0?

I have these and I think 5.1 was really new to devices when I got them in 2021-ish.

Yes, you are right, this model is BT v4.0, I remembered wrong version.

  • In order to use these at their best, you really need the 48V Power Supply. Unfortunately it's expensive to get in Australia.

    • How does that work?

  • caved and bought a pair for my PC, a little bit sick of using headphones ALL the time and my logitechs died inexplicably (plus I hate the silly little coaster/dongle thing that is needed for it)

  • Might be worth mentioning this comment:

I have the 1380DBs. I bought them over the 1280s specifically because of the Bluetooth 5.1. But despite this, there is still a lag between the audio and video when streaming movies, watching YouTube etc. Annoying that between supporting BT 5.1. and Qualcomm APTX, this problem still exists in 2023. Does come with a 3.5mm AUX cable to get around this, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having bluetooth.

Ie. Edifier's BT (surely in the cheaper models like this) lags a little, which makes it not quite usable when you want to watch something on the TV or PC with the speakers connected over BT.

    • Why would y not use a cable for video?

      • Less clutter
        Often moving the speakers
or the device they're connected to
Lack of cable where I currently am
        Inconvenient cable switching
Not enough ports on the device
Not enough line-ins on the speaker

Pick the best reason. The point is - don't expect to buy them to wirelessly connect to the TV or laptop to watch something, like you legitimately would expect from BT devices these days.

I don’t expect bluetooth audio to sync with video.

          • @0jay: Me neither anymore. Just like anyone who has fallen for one of these, I guess.

What I also find inconvenient is the LED being on the side (hard to tell if they're on and what input they're set to) and I wish they had a headphone in on them, so I can just plug the headphones to them instead of switching minijacks on the laptop.

            • @pizzaguy: @WasBargain is saying they’re BT 4.0 also, so even if 5.1 could resolve sync issues this unit wouldn’t be the tool for the job.

At least they have levels on the side, I have BTless unit very similar from Manhaten with controls on the rear that’s even more annoying
