Highly rate these, amazing imaging for the price and has some surprising midbass.

    • Agreed, was a pleasant upgrade from an entry level soundbar

    • Imaging… these are speakers though. Jks… I’ll go now.

  • Never had monitors before, I heard its flat, so would it be good for pc? (Mainly listening to music while working)

    Thanks!

    • Depends if you're listening to Hot Potato by The Wiggles or not

      Just EQ them.

They are fine. Unless you want bass. But they sound great for the price.

    • If you want speakers for enjoyment, I would recommend buying something else from the Edifier range that's been tuned for that. Monitors are designed for audio engineers/producers for critical listening tasks and yes they are generally more "flat" because that's what is needed for that work. They won't sound "bad" but you'd probably get a better experience from the regular speakers in the Edifier range.

    • Monitor gear is great and doesn't add bass like most of speakers do. You can add bass yourself in the equaliser, and in case of these speakers with the knobs in the back or I can see they even have a "Music mode" which probably makes them less flat with a singe switch.

      • And those features are great, but I still feel that, dollar for dollar, I would get a more satisfying experience from something like these which only cost a bit more (and they've been $126 before), and feature tone controls AND a sub-out port (so you could add a cheap used subwoofer down the line if you need more low-end oomph). Of course there's nothing inherently wrong with buying these MR4 speakers and if you like them, more power to you.

        • Yeah, if you need a subwoofer and tone control on the speaker, then these MR4 are not for you.

The R1280Ts set you linked is far less usable to me, as they have no aux in / headphones out in the front, as well as the controls are on the side, which is way less convenient compared to MR4. I regret getting my R1280Ts.

    • I think there are 2 modes, monitor and music mode. Turning it to music mode will fix the flat EQ.
