      • Would you mind sharing what's the best way to use these sim card for (sharing) data? Cheers!

        • +2

I've used up 63GB of traffic in the last 7 days. I plugged the sim card into my router and used it as my home broadband.

        • +2

Sorry I don't quite understand what you mean.

I basically have a smartphone with dual Sim, so use my main one for phone calls and texts , while use the boost only for data. Then I use it as a hotspot to use data on my computer :)
Can do everything, 65GB is a lot !

          • @anneso2605: I see, thanks. I was thinking if using a pocket wifi thingy might work with this.

        • +3

If you are just using it for data on 1 computer any old phone with a hotspot or a dual sim phone will do. If you want to use it as a home internet analogue a 4g router will suit better. One of the small portable ones will do ok if you only have a few devices or get a fully fledged router off FB marketplace if you have lots of devices. Phone hotspots/mobile hotspots tend to struggle with lots of devices connected & moving data.

I use a huawei b818-263 I got off facebook marketplace for my home network & run it on these boost sims & other cheap/free deals that come up, never needed an NBN connection. The TP-link 4g routers also come up fairly often second hand.

          • +2

@mitt: Thank you for the detailed info. I have been thinking of cancelling the NBN and get a portable wifi device, as I didn't know there's 4g router until now. Learned a lot from this. Thank you. I will look into getting a 4g router to do the same setup.

    • My Sim card is calls only unlimited $60 P/a. Dual Sim phone. These always for data.

      • Which sim is the call only?

        • Probably amaysim. They have a $60 talk and text only plan that's a bit hidden. You need to sign up for whatever other Sim, then select change plan in the amaysim app. Doesn't seem to be available off the bat as an option. An easy option is the $10 PAYG esim you can also get through their app, then change that plan. A $2 Sim might work too but I'm unsure, it might force you to sign up to the regular plan.

  • Got my CR tracking email before my order confirmation email, nice. Only bought 3 SIMs today.

  • Just keep getting connection reset issues.

  • +1

Got 6 before something went wrong. All tracked. :)

  • +5

Crazy fast tracking. Gonna be able to buy a loaf of bread this week

    • +7

Cashback doesn't hit your account for a few months so it seems you will be fasting till then.

    • +2

Glad to hear that you got your slice of the action

  • something went wrong :(

  • Slow tracking for me. 11 mins Bit worried.

    • +1

Only 11 mins and you are already worried!
If it shows in your click history and you have proof of purchase then worst case you can submit a claim in 7 days so nothing to worry about :-)

      • Still hasn't come through. Looks like I'll have to make a claim.

    • What is "tracking"? Where do I look for tracking?

  • Ty fam, bought 5 for my family and all tracked instantly.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Tracked smoothly

  • keep receiving error messages for 20+ times, I would really need some cheap ~30 days SIM for my families' short term visit

  • First error message in months…"SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG
We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later."

  • Ok this is insane, told my friend about this deal and him and his partner each did 20+ transactions in the last hour!

    That's like $240 in profit!

    • +3

They'll have to activate 40 sims in 28 days, they'll be on some government watchlist for sure lol

      • +2

        The Cashback Extremists watchlist

      • Nah you'll be ok

      • +1

Max you can have is 35 numbers on your account.

Can only activate 4 numbers each day.

        So I have been told.

  • bought 10 with 2 different card, first card hit something went wrong with 6 orders, 2nd hit that with 4 orders..
how does some people order 20 or 30 all at once? different address?

    • Head shaking stuff. Are people that greedy for money i.e. the need to order 20 or 30. I feel bad just ordering one or two a month hahaha

      • +1

        Companies are much more greedy.

        • -1

Doesn't mean we have to be as well though.

          • +2

@Borg: Was it a limited supply? Nope. Greedy? Maybe hurting anyone? I don't believe so.

  • GOAT cashback amount using the GOAT MJ's jersey number in its figure twice. Nice.

  • Put in all the details, hit pay and the time struck 12 as it processed and got 5.25 cashback tracked :(

    • +4

      There’s always one Cinderella

    • +2

Increase ended 11:59pm AEDT. Any purchases completed after this time will track at standard rate. Best to jump on chat and cancel if you don’t want to be out of pocket. All the best :)

  • -6

Found out this a tad late… But did 6 in 15mins before the bell.

    Need moooar

Last order Order date: 07/11/2023 22:58:33

Why people negative this ? I mean you go on about how corrupt ceos are from NBN getting so much money yet the small batller CSnt even make or pick up lose change off the ground?

    Double standards

    • Here have a + mate, ignore those who negs as they probably cant/dont hustle as well as you 👍

    • +1

I negged you because I’m a huge believer in herd mentality

Boost Sim deals saved me from the Optus outage!

  • +1

Boost Sim deals with profit saved me from going hungry.

    • Wow… and I thought it was SKMEI

  • +2

These are handy as spare/backups if you are an Optus customer and they ever have a major outage. ;-)
One can still make calls and browse the net to find out what is going on!

    • Yep, literally ported to Optus postpaid last night
.. Lucky to have a few of these lying around

      • Yeah. will affect any Optus retailer eg. Amaysim, Coles mobile, Moose, Dodo.and so on.

        • Exactly my problem today. Lucky i have a spare Boost sim ready.

  • +2

Bring this back today, and you might get a ton of new port overs.

  • +1

I've seen Boost now send email with specific tracking number via email. Looks new to me as I hadn't received a tracking number in the past. Guess this should also link up to the SIM serial and check activation status for Cashback.

    • +1

Some users have always received it, others never.

I've been battling with their live chat on and off for a year to activate automatic e-mail tracking to no avail. Now all of a sudden it works.

      • I'm guessing Boost has tightened up this process and keeping better records of SIMs. This could be either due to:

        1. Multiple reports of lost/missing SIMs and cancellation/refund of orders, and/or
        2. To better track activation status and link it back to the order to validate cashback.
        • +1

The problem with the Tracking is that it doesn't note which SIM it relates to (if one has ordered multiples on different days). Might help if it noted the "Order No".

          • @Borg: Understandably so the tracking doesn't have SIM serial or order number. However, Boost might have upgraded their system such that they're now tracking this info on their own software (not relying on AusPost). I.e. Boost system records all your order number, which Serial was assigned to order number and tracking status.

They can then use a combination to validate cashback.

            • +1

@nsingh21: Nothing understandable at all. Most of the packages I receive have some type of reference or something inside the envelope noting the order number. Give us a clue at least :-)

One of course can call them and ask. They do have a record of tracking number against order number and can cross-check against SIM received. It's what I had to do.

      • Only thing I've found consistent with me is if I put my BoostID-registered e-mail address in my order then I get the e-mail. Any other e-mail address and I don't get one.

        • If only it were that simple.

Interestingly the tracking that came through this morning was to two different e-mail addresses so it isn't dependant on being linked to a Boost ID (unless they've changed it whereby tracking is now sent to the address on the order).

    • +2

Yes received email with specific tracking number as well. First time.

  • anyone getting this while trying to activate? "Something went wrong
We’re unable to process the request at this time."

    • Yes I got the same as you tried, a number of time so I got on to Boost Chat and got them to activate my 3 prepaid sims.

    • How many expired services do you have? I have 20 expired over previous 6 months and 3 active when that error came up. I'll ask them to remove the old numbers but not sure if that will fix the error yet

      • Were you able to resolve your issue or is it still present?

        • Haven't asked to delete old services yet since customer service was able to activate the SIM that I needed. I'll try before next time I need to activate.

  • Has anyone received their sim card order?
I still have not received sim card from this deal. No shipping notification email or any kind of order confirmation email. I ordered only one sim. Cashreward tracking was fine.

    • Received tracking email but still awaiting delivery.
Checked tracking tells me as below and nothing else.

      Item processed at facility
      STRATHFIELD NSW • Thu 9 Nov, 11.18pm

      • Just wondering if it's ever going to get to me

        Item processed at facility
        NORTHGATE QLD • Mon 13 Nov, 7.24pm
        Item processed at facility
        NORTHGATE QLD • Tue 14 Nov, 5.49pm

    • You should've gotten an order confirmation email at the very least. Did you get the order confirmation screen when you placed your order? Kept a record of your order number?

      • I received sim card yesterday. It turns out notification email was filtered in spam.

    • I got an order confirmation pretty much right away but still waiting on shipping notification.

      • Finally got mine. Never got a dispatch email. Messaged them and they were able to supply tracking info.

    • Mine arrived to Metro Brisbane yesterday.

  • received 5/6 sims
for the last one, boost has not sent out a dispatch email either…
very strange as they were all ordered at the same time

    • me too. only receive 5 out of 6 "Your order has been dispatched" emails and only received 5 out of 6 sims in the mail.
has anyone else dealt with this problem? will boost be able to fix it so that i still get the cashback?

      • Worst case I'll just ask for a refund for that final sim

  • Interesting - cant activate prepaid boost sims at the moment - activation site says:

    Pre-Paid Activation Unavailable
We're temporarily unable to activate your Pre-Paid service. We're sorry for the inconvenience. We’re working to get everything back up and running ASAP.

    • +1

They commonly run maintenance overnight on a Sun/Mon or Mon/Tue. There was a notice on the site last night saying activations would be unavailable from 11pm-3am.
