This with a 5600 is an ideal budget build.

    • What would you recommend for a gpu that can play GTA V and RDR? TIA

      • What resolution?

        • QHD

          • +6

@bobloblawlawblog: I’d recommend a 6700xt, currently running one and it has no issues with RDR2 at 1440p high settings. GTA V should be the same considering it is much easier to run than RDR2.

            • @celery juice: thanks a lot. ive looked at that in the past but do you think anything in the $300 range could run these games in QHD?

      • i would go for a 3070 personally

However at the $300 range, you can get a 3060 2nd hand.

  • What case would you pair with this board?

    • +6

Any case in existence besides mini-ATX ones? It is like asking what shirt should I wear today, dunno what do you like? Personally I've given up on glass or side windows, the glass just gets too dirty and RBG light shows becoming a tacky meme. Just get something simple and easy to clean.

      CoolerMaster NR400 Black $87
      DeepCool Macube 110 White $78
      DeepCool Macube 110 Black $66

I have both styles of case and and recommend both for general build quality. Obviously not as good as a fractal but tempered glass all around, removable HDD cage, enough air mesh and rear cable access is quite good.

AM4 …. there will never be a platform like it ever again!!

    • AM5 isn't as good?

      • Oh it's fine, i just meant it because of it's longevity :) … 4 Generations of CPU's and the flagship gaming 5800X3D is still a viable option for anyone on a Zen+ or Zen2 CPU instead of changing platforms… i just don't think AMD will ever do that again, AM5 should cover about 3 gens until 2025 … still a good platform for sure :)

        • +1

People sorta had to force amd for months on end to get 5000 series to work on anything that wasn't a 5xx motherboard.

          • @JerraJones: Yeh the bullsh*t bios limitation crap, at that stage I think the mb manufacturers were putting pressure on amd to get users to upgrade as well… That's why I don't think it'll ever happen again, AMD and ita partners won't want it.

            • @scud70: AMD also lied about supporting future thread ripper generations on strx4 motherboards though that's a much more niche issue.

  • Issue with a WiFi card and a 3080? Doesn't look like it have m2 WiFi?

    • +2

Using one of these right now with a 3080.
Both m.2 slots being used with no issues also have a pci-e wifi card which is plugged into the slot above the vid card (Only reason why i went for this board) no issues at all.

I still don't get why mini is smaller than micro.

    • +4

Cuz one is ITX and one is ATX - maybe mini ITX should be renamed to nano ATX

  • Are there any good LGA1700 (12th gen intel) deals?

  • rip I legit just bought a crap gigabyte vdsh b550 for 129$ only a week ago from msy.

    • Maybe you can flip it. I bought one of OP's deal just in case my current one explodes lol and if it doesn't I can get my money back on secondary market.

  • I'm happy I chose the z790 MSI gaming pro WiFi, crazy motherboard $380

  • Mine arrived today :)
Now to get a processor lol
