Anyone already have these able to confirm if they leak like some of the amazon reviews state?

    • +7

The red version of these are my go to lunchbox for a few years. I'm assuming they're the same model but I've had zero issues with them. Not sure what they're putting in there for it to leak but I've previously had soup in there and it didn't leak. However, I didn't exactly give it a reason to leak by turning it upside down.

      • +4

Thanks team sounds more like user error than product issues time to spend spend spend

        • +2

          Buy with confidence!

        • Definitely user error. I use these daily for work lunches too, 5 days a week all sorts in there. Don’t store it upside down and you’ll be fine! These are great I already have 6 but might get some more.

          • @doobey1231: Only leak from top if not closed. biggest issue is lid coming off but this is very rare and with very old ones or tossed about

      • What is the red version?

    • +3

With a lot of use, some lids become loose, hence the leaking. But it´s my go to lunchbox too and I'm very happy.

      • +3

If you want better protection against leaks, buy containers with a rubber seal such as the Ikea 365+ ones. Downside is the need to wash the removable rubber seals.

        • +1

If you cover with food wrap first, then the lid, then you don't need to wash the lid anymore. You can do this too when using a thermos cup.

          • +3

@jimojr: I think a lot of people buy these containers to reduce plastic use.

            • @DarwinBoy: wouldn't it be better to save time, water and dishwashing liquid?

              • +1

@jimojr: Plastic takes 200 years to break.down. Every bit of plastic created still exists. Something i heard recently.
Less is best when it comes to plastic.

                • @DarwinBoy: Not entirely true as some waste gets incinerated. But yes, any plastic in a landfill will be there for a long, long time.

    • +4

If you put pork bone soup and shake hard it will.
Look at the lid and steam vent and use common sense.

I have the red ones gifted to me 11 years ago and still going strong.
I don't know what I'll use the new ones for but I bought it anyway.

    • +1

I've had these for a few years, they leak.

  • What is the white stuff that scars the bottom of the containers? Can it be prevented / removed.

    • +6

      Plastic bubbling/melting, possible causes:
      - Microwave food with hot oil or high fat content.
      - Dishwasher bottom rack being too hot.

      • ah ok, I thought it might be. Maybe I bottom racked it before.

      • Any idea if it's dangerous to health?

        • +1

Of course it is. But most things are these days. Use glass if you're concerned.

Decor's own care guide says, "If product is damaged, discontinue use." Damaged Tritan is not good for you.

      • +1

Microwaving food with hot oil or fat content is the main reason. They heat up faster than the area around it. Easiest way is to stir it when it's melted a bit.

Thanks mate i note these are freezer safe and i need something for my frozen topokki rice cakes so this should do the trick nicely, cheers OP

    Thanks op. got one set

  • +1

Yes and in stock this time when I see the deal!

  • +1

Thanks op! Was waiting for these to pop up, have a full weeks worth now.

  • +2

Made with Tritan - the "safe" BPA alternative approved based only on computer simulations and the career destroying tactics against a scientist who dared to challenge Eastman Chemicals and claimed it leaked synthetic estrogens. Still I use these. They're quite handy.

  • +1

Would these be stackable with the red ones? Thanks

    • Yes they are the same size

  • The lids crack easily.

  • Don't know why they describe it as airtight. If you have one of these you'll know that the vent buttons don't stay closed even if you press on the lid to remove air. It's pretty much a container with a hole at the top.

    • Agreed - I have 2 sets of these and they are definitely not airtight. Also, it didn't take long before the lids bent out of shape and it became pretty much impossible to get them on properly. I now use glass containers with airtight lids.

  • These really big? I need meal prep containers, but I think 400-600ml max as I'm doing 18-24 meals lol

    • They are not that much bigger than a 600ml takeaway container . Maybe 3cm longer 1 cm taller 1cm wider. So depends on your fridge freezer size . I like to have a bit of air space, not filled to the max for reheating .

  • These come up as $19.68 for me…same as the red ones posted a week or so ago, I reported, but apparently ptehra could buy at the special price still.

I can tell these are popular.
    I have some my self.

Wondering if anyone know of food comtainer comparison websites though.

Tried to find before but without much non bias results out there.

Basically i want to replace all my other crappy plastic containers with new ones, but want just 1 or 2 brands and ones that I wont have to replace again in a few years.
    Want to be planet aware.

Any advice would be helpful (except the usual troll replies by the unemployable ozbargainers here of course).
    Cheers

This size is crap, need the deeper ones so you can stir your food properly when reheating.

    Thanks OP

I have red colour varieties nearly 8 years old.
It is a little bit hard to close the lid than the first several years. I don't know why, shrinked the lids or swelled containers?
Just be careful when you reheat oily food by microwave. It's possible to burn or melt.
Yeah, I know almost plastic containers are the same.😅
Anyway, my containers are still strong.
And it doesn't have silicone seal on the lid edge.

  • Please don't microwave food in these… Such a great way to shorten your life

  • Been using these for years. Freezer to micro no problem just run some water on the lid to open it and leave on top while in micro. Never had any leaks but cleaning the vent needs a little extra work. Good value product.

  • I got 2 sets which arrived yesterday, both sets have cracked lids out of the box. Anyone else get broken ones?

    • No got 3 all good , but arrived in a box with a 2nd order of 48 dunny rolls though
