4 cards per customer ruins it a bit but glad to see that they waived the activation fee!

    • Don't you have several ALDI's near you?

      • +18

Petrol plus time spent driving around eats into the 10% saving.

      • +2

You only need one Aldi. Just bring the whole family with you. :-)

    • Last time there was no system limit (on amazon cards) at least for starting of the promo, who knows if the tech team actually did …. job this time ?? (personally sold more than 5 last time in same transaction)

What is not written in the catalogue is :

      4 card per store ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    • +1

      Ill squeeze this one here:
Probably everybody knows … except me …

It is a CARDLESS gift card. CARD LESS. No card.
Your money (min $22.50) goes into a digital App.

      No plastic.

      Please correct me if wrong.

I learned about this "feature" (cardLESS) minutes away from embarking in a lengthy gift card purchase expedition.

My problem: fund$ were planned for a very elderly shopper. She only recently mastered the Tap&Pay technology … Not a chance for an App.

  • Can these cards be loaded into Apple/Google Pay.

    • Yes. I believe so. I think they are Apple/Google Pay exclusive's.

  • Nice . Time to pull out the costumes. Go to an aldi that has 4 registers and go to each register.

Thats $400 per aldi, i have about 5 aldi on the way so $2000 per day, not bad

    • +3

      That's dedication.

      • +25

No thatโ€™s just easternculture. Surprised heโ€™s not sending in the kids too.

        • +1

My 6 year old bought 8 today for me.

Gave him the cards and $200

He is ready to be EC Junior

    • +3

      $2000 per day

Seems like a lot of work for $200 :)

      • +2

Its on the way, so all good. All up 1hr work for $200 . Not bad .

I used to work 8.5hrs for $350 before tax. So you still think its a lot of work for $200

    • For a $200 saving

      • +2

Its on the way, so all good. All up 1hr work for $200 . Not bad
Even at 2hrs @ $100 per hour is good

    • +1

Assuming the cards don't mysteriously go 'missing'

    • +1

Man of culture! You are not alone there @easternculture. I changed different jackets, hairstyles, caps … in order to the desired number lol

    • +3

      Sure, Broden.

If you produce receipts showing you actually got a couple grand worth, I'll shoot you $25 to go load another one up.

      • I will take that bet my good friend.

        • You can get 50 for stepping up when he would not!

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: Did some recon today so hope your a man of your word.

            • +1

@shane23: If the limit is 4 per customer, that's 20 trips minimum to hit 2k.

Unless you got a few people with you, a store who doesn't care about the limit, or are in the most opportune Aldi zone ever, that's some solid legwork.

              • @TheDukeOfNukem: Ahah yeah maybe I better back out. I went to a store today to shop and the shelfโ€™s were already empty . Eastern culture already taken them home ๐Ÿ˜‚

                • +1

@shane23: New product won't be placed until morning of launch.

      • @TheDukeOfNukem

$400 so far. Get your $25 ready.

    • Mate, you must have way too much time on your hand.
Is bargain hunting your day job?

      • +2

Nah. Aldi next to my sons school. Was empty when i got there, so $100 profit for 5 min

        • It's funny when you are quicker than the staff at removing the strip for the barcode scanning!

    • so $2000 per day, not bad

But then you have to spend all those of your own $2,000 buying in Aldi.

Do you all shop all that much???

  • +3

Can we use this to pay centre link ? I have big amount to payback?

  • Hope they have plenty in stock on the day

  • +4

Hope coles mastercard deal will come soon. Canโ€™t bother picking up $25 cards

    • +1

Just imagine for $25 how many cards they'll need to meet people's target profit. This is instant sellout.

    • +1

waiting for coles mastercard as well.

    • you can probably use these Aldi cards to pay for Coles mastercard!

      • +1

No you can't. Discounted Coles MC come in $100 and $250 denominations and you can't do split payment (Plus they've probably blocked these cards)

        • I have been able to split my payment when buying Coles Mastercard gift cards. I use the cashier checkouts, and theyโ€™ve allowed me to do it.

          • @Nelumbo: Sorry was referring to online.
Also remains if Coles has blocked this card for gift card payment like they have others.

      • You can't. And one thing is when you try to use this card to buy other card( such as coles master card) , their system may block you card. You have to waste your time to call them to unblock…. I have one bad experience before. So now I never try…

    • +6

a little birdie has give me date for coles Mastercards which is not too far in future ;)

      • -1

        Next week???

        • I can tell you its not next week :)

          • +2

            @mkh1991: In November?

            • +3

@Ozpe1903: There is Coles MC next week, just not what everyone usually expects.

              • @Taegukgi: You mean they will be discounted %10 next week?

                • +1

@Ozpe1903: Nope. Dealbot is probably referring to the other sort of deal (i.e. bonus Flybuys points).

      • +1

Is the Coles MC you were referring to the $6 off $250 which starts in a few days?

  • Nice

  • Hopefully can pay with Visa Activ cards (bought $1k worth in the recent deal stacked with HSBC 2% cashback). This is a good deal to use HSBC on too, 4 cards for under $100 each time, 11.5% saving after taking off 0.5% for surcharge.

    • +1

I think no surcharge on HSBC now as it reroutes via eftpos.

      • do we need to set that in apple pay ?

      • HSBC don't pay the cashback if it's routed to Eftpos

        • -1

You still held the outdated info.

          • @Neoika: I assume cashback with eftpos routing only works with Apple Pay, not Google and Physical card?

        • it does. I have done Aldi shops where there is no surcharge now, and I still get the 2% cashback

          • @souths123: Is this is with Apple Pay? I unfortunately don't have an Apple device.

            • +1

@wangasm: no, I have a Samsung mobile. I am talking about using the physical HSBC card to tap

  • So how do these things work?

    https://www.microgifts.com/pocket_money/

These can be used basically anywhere that accepts a normal Mastercard credit card?

    • +6

      Not quite.

The Mastercard in this deal is a prepaid gift card, which means it is only accepted instore or online at merchants who choose to accept prepaid Mastercard gift cards. For example:

      • If an online merchant requires a Mastercard to support 3-D Secure1, this prepaid gift card will be rejected, because prepaid gift cards are unable to support this feature. However, a Mastercard debit/credit card supporting 3-D Secure would be fine at that online merchant.

      • If an online merchant blocks all prepaid cards as a payment method, this prepaid gift card will be rejected. For example, Cashrewardsโ€™ gift card portal does this.

      1. You see this sometimes with online merchants when they get the card issuer to have the customer enter a one-time password to verify the customer is also the registered cardholder.

  • +1

Can these be used to pay the ATO?

    • keen to know as well but $25 each time and 10 cards limit per day is going to take forever as I have a huge bill

      • This card doesn't like the coles MC. It is a digital cash which you need to top on a digital card in their app, and the card that you use to pay is fixed. So the amount can be stacked.

    • +1

If this is eftpos card then you can go to Auspost to pay with eftpos/Savings there.

But Aupost people made very very aware of these sort of transactions (they get very suspicous, and good luck paying in multiples of $25 to pay a 500 or so plus bill, + annoying people behind you and the staff)

      • +1

No, the gift card in this deal is a prepaid Mastercard gift card, as you can see on the MicroGifts website (which is also linked in OPโ€™s description) and the packaging. There is also no physical gift card in the Pocket Money packaging.

Additionally, if you want to pay an ATO debt at Australia Post, you need to have a payment slip with a barcode on it. The ATO does not provide a payment slip for some types of ATO debt (e.g. HELP debts).

        • Love that idea

        • You don't need to worry about split payments, because this $25 card gives you a QR code. You need to scan the QR code to top up the digital card in their app, which provide a digital mastercard. Add the card to your google/apple wallet and you can use it on any eftpos. No limitations for top-up.

    • yes! I just paid today.
