Lite-On LZT-128M3S 128GB SSD $69 Shipped

130

Probably the only "deal" I have seen from mwave subscription that has been worth a click,
all their other specials are pretty much what you can get them for if you shop around.

There was a deal for the bigger unit not long ago:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75059

I did a quick search but dont have the time to really look into it so please research it
for yourself.

Price alone it seems like a bargain, write speed seems a little slow compared to high end
but im no expert.

  • Is this an msata drive?

    • -1

      no its 2.5

    • But it could be a msata drive with 2.5" adapter, like previous LiteOn SSD deal.

      • i see :O

      • so… do we know if its mSATA or not? I've already ordered though lol.

    • I bought the 256gb version from scorptech. Ask the shop to see if the model number on the back says
      "LZT-128"

My 256gb does not have M3S on the model number (LZT-256) but i think there really is just one version with the msata inside, cant find any other versions on the Lite-on website.

Planning on ordering more to flip on ebay :)

      • Got mine today. damn quick shipping to VIC.

Anyway, I cracked it open and sure enough, it does have a mSATA inside!

What a great deal. + from me.

        • Thanks, was hoping it would come with one.

I was being a true ozbargainer and went with Direct Deposit so I don't get charged a fee, mine was only sent today :(

        • Do you mean it's actually a tiny mSata sized module inside a big 2.5" case?

        • msata drive connected to this:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SYBA-SY-ADA40050-mSATA-PCI-E-PCIE…

enclosed in a cheap 2.5" aluminium case, doesnt even have a logo or anything on the case.

        • Wow, that's a bonus.

    seems decent enough…

Note: not sure if this comes into play:

  • Its showing $110 at the cart for me?

    • Showing up as $69 inc standard delivery for me.

      • Oh wait, I tried to buy 2 lol. Its 1 per order.

      • $110 for me too.
EDIT: I had 2 in my cart… restricted to one per customer. Drop back to 1 and it's $69

    • +1

Total: $71.75 with transit insurance that it automatically added.

      • I removed the insurance, but then it added $1.38 paypal surcharge!

  • I have the 256gb version from Scorptec in my Macbook Pro. It performs just as well as my crucial M4

    • Same as me with a HP ultrabook. No probs so far.

  • This seems like a good deal. Why doesn't it have more +? Is there something wrong with the brand?

Is there something wrong with the brand?

Pretty much this. I only bought it for a non-critical application. If I needed one for my work laptop I wouldn't buy this. Not that there's anything wrong with liteon, its just that there are other SSDs that have been proven reliable over long term use for not much more $.

    • There's also 14 comments (predominatly saying "I bought one") but only 3 + votes amongst those commenters.

    • Is there something wrong with the brand?

the retailer is the bigger problem. stay away from mwave

    • +1

With LiteOn it's an OEM drive with only 12 months warranty (comparing to 3-5 years from other brands).

  • got 1, now hype hype

  • Back to $110, says SOLD OUT (even thought it is still in stock?). Booo

  • +3

It's mwave. They'll probably take your money then secretly cancel your order without notifying you.

I want to upvote because the price sounds good, but everyone's been burned by them before. Because it's mwave, the best I can do is not downvote it.

    • That's never happened to me on any order from Mwave.

    • agreed, don't like mwave

    • I've ordered once from mwave. Delivered to my door in Melbourne 18 hours later. There was a glitch in their system that sent me a 'order dispatched' email every 15 minutes though. Other than that, no complaints.

    • SSD delivered.
      Less than 24 hours

  • Is the 190MB/s write figure a typo? Seems like a low speed for SATA3 and more like a SATA2 speed.

    • This is what I get on a fully passive CF-19 MK2 Toughbook - ie. its pretty much the lowest power SATA2 chipset you can get…

                 Sequential Read : 244.937 MB/s

Thats damn good for a $70 shipped 128GB drive, even better for a mSATA ssd! Lets just hope it lasts the distance lol.

      • what tool you using to benchmark?

        • Google says he used crystalmark
