    • You're not wrong, we have come a long way from the Atari Portfolio.

    • They are indeed, but they're also just laptop parts reconfigured into a box shell.

  • This is the first NUC I've seen w/ a HDMI 2.1 port

If it were cheaper it'd make a great PC for the living room to install HoloISO on and stream games from my main PC. (Still unsure if 4k120hz is supported in SteamOS streaming though)

I had a super quick look on Ali but couldn't find anything much cheaper w/ hdmi 2.1..

Good deal. You can usually get this spec mini-PC for almost this price but without the SSD and RAM.

  • +1

Warranty is a genuine consideration if something goes wrong.

Might be worth paying little bit extra for Amazon. The coupon deals rotate constantly on these boxes.

  • too bad the gtr7 pro doesn't look to be on sale

  • +2

Annoying how so many of these random mini PCs are turning up with Zen 4 processors rather than in laptops

    • +2

ASUS and Lenovo have plenty of Zen 4 APU's to make blockbuster laptops

Except they prefer you to buy a ROG Ally or Legion Go rather than a cheap laptop

OEM's are not dumb - releasing too many Phoenix laptops kills their entire non-RTX lineup and also jeopardises their relationship with Intel

Phoenix will only be mainstream in laptops once Intel get off their ass and release a competitive 15th Gen

Desktop GPU's will also only become competitive once Intel releases Battlemage

Intel is even more influential in the PC market when the majority of their products suck

    • but wait, aren't you excited that AMD is already teasing Zen 5 processors?

looking forward to seeing laptops with them in 2027.

  • How's the thermals, noise and throttling on these higher end mini PCs?

    • I have the Ser6 Max.. i use it for office works and study.. anything but gaming really and thermal and noise are pretty decent.

I don't regret getting it at all and it has a really small footprints on my desk.

For anyone that's not looking to get a glass case with Christmas lights.. this really is the way to go.

They really have come a long way.
