    This seems pretty expensive

I’ve been through Dodo, Spintel, Superloop, Origin, Aussie, Exetel and Telstra. Telstra only provider to give me dramas and drop out LOL

    • +2

Which one would you recommend? I'm about to leave iinet can't decide between superloop and Aussie

      • +2

Can't go wrong with any of these two, however Aussie is a bit expensive as compared to super loop. I have used both of these and I am currently with superloop due to the cheaper price and similar speed. Aussie broadband's customer service is top notch though.
Never had any problem with both of these in terms of speed or connection dropouts

      • +3

Superloop was fine for me - Aussie were ok too, it's been a generic experience (very good connection) for all but Telstra strangely. I churn based on price mostly… best experience surprisingly was Dodo when I reached out to them for support that actually turned out to be my issue. Responsive and knowledgable.

      • me with more on CBA promo. can't fault them since churning and hassle free. Occasion drop out, but not often

  • +6

Yeah apart from the $1 for the first month this isn't a great deal.

    • But the $1 for the first month is.

  • I'm on 1000/50 at the moment and pay $129. What is everyone else paying for something comparable?

    • +6

1000/50 with Leaptel for $99/month for the first year.

      • Care to add how many years you have to stay and what's the price afterwards?

        • +4

Leaptel are great. No lock in even at that price. Check their plans to make your own decision, but Leaptel represents far better value for money than Telstra.

      • can you share a referral code for leaptel? I reckon we can both benefit from it.

    • +5

      1000/50 $99/m @ Superloop.

      • did you get that permanent 10 dollar off to keep it at 99 indefinitely

        • +1

Call up after 6 months and they might give you the discount again.

    • 100/40 @ $79.95 with Superloop.

      • Is that price permanent or just limited months only?

        • Permanent. They took over my MyRepublic acct and left the plan untouched.

          • @JaxSantiago: Lucky. If only I can also get it at your price, I would switch from AussieBB 50/20 plan, but none really that much cheaper at the moment :(

  • +1

Comparing this to a $89/6month plan with Aussie broadband, this telstra deal is indeed a better deal for the first 3 months.

    • +1

$1 Telstra deal is for 1 month.

      • +1

        $89x 3 =$267

        $110x2 +$1 = $211

  • +2

    This is not a bargain.

edit: Superloop's normal price for 1000/50 is $99/month. This is incredibly overpriced internet.

    • +7

$1 for one month then switch - whats overpriced. Hell Ozbargainers do it all the time for mobile phone plans. What planet are you from?

      • Agreed… People need to have a think first before negging

Maybe Telstra triggers these type of posters

        • Terrible 'deals' trigger these type of posters.

          • +1

@crc32: So $1 for 1 month is a terrible deal in your eyes then? Just for the sake of clarifying your neg vote reason.

  • Can you future date the connection?

    • +1

Telstra will likely add multiple future days before setting up your connection.

  • +2

As everyone has pointed out this isn’t a good price but $135 for 25Mbps upload is the major crime here…

    • +1

Who said the deal here is for 24 months?

  • -5

    Not cheap, no deal

  • So what is to stop anyone paying Telstra $1 for the first month (NBN or 5G), cancelling after the first month, then a month free from Aussie BB, cancel that, then 3 months free from More Telecom via Comm Bank? Just under 5 months of internet for $1?

    • nothing (plus you might even gain a modem3 if you are lucky)

      • +1

I signed up on this when it was $1 per month for 2x months (last year I think).

I've still got the Gen 3 modem new in the box. They never asked for it back and never charged me anything for it either.

      • I have got a free one before but at the most recent Telstra connection they did ask for it to be sent back.

    • Dont they need 30 days cancelation notice making it two months minimum with each provider?

  • +1

For new services. If you leave before 24 months, return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee.

Still waiting for the request to return my modem3 from the last time after cancelling after a month 😃

  • +1

I don't get the negs… The deal is the $1 for the first month, what you choose to do after that is your choice.

It's like any other similar deal posted on here, first month free then cancel if you wish .. negging for future pricing is just being selectively lazy and a waste of a neg

    • -3

Yes, must reserve my limited supply of negs.

    • I don't get the negs…

      Read the voting rules…

  • +1

I wonder if they track the modem this time. Last time I didn't return the modem and I didn't get charged

    • You can use the existing modem. I just churned to Telstra and didn't even have to restart the modem or router. All done in 10 minutes.

    • by any chance do you remember roughly when this was?

  • Last time I signed up with Telstra during a black Friday deal they had $1 for first month + $100 GC + 12 months Disney plus free

  • FO Telstra gimmicks

  • +4

Telstra…..bottom of the barrel. I don't know why anyone would sign up with their BS.

    • +1

Aren't their service better than Floptus?

      • +1

        Not their customer service…

  • +1

im moving from telstra to leaptel this week when my new router arrives, its pathetic thats the 100mbps plan is more expensive than the 1000mbps of the other providers

  • nbn 100/20 $110 Per Month

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • +2

Yeah nah, how people stay with telstra is beyond me, so many better offers out there

  • How much to return the modem after the first month?

    • +2

No cost. The return label is provided by Telstra. You just have to drop it off at Australia Post.

    • Unlike Optus where you don't have the option to return a used modem to avoid fees. They enforce you to pay for the modem.

      • Wow, that's a show stopper. Thanks for the info - useful to know

  • Can someone please let me know if you can postpone the connection date?

    • +3

yes, up to about 1 month after. You can specify this date towards the very end of the online sign up process.
