  • Good price! Just an FYI, the image shown is for the S27 version (27inch).

The stand makes it look funny :S

Finally they have their own deisgn. No body can sue them now. :-)

      • +5

maybe people with eyes can still sue them… X_X

        • The stand actually reminds me of old BENQ monitors

The Sperm Whale appreciation society has sent Samsung a cease and desist letter…

Actually that bit of curve it has reminds me of Apple.

      ZOMG SUE THEM IMMEDIATELY1!!!111ONEONE1

      • I am getting confused this monitor over the apple.

Is this suppose to be a joke? Looks nothing like it imo

    • i couldn't stand looking at that weird shape all day

  • @kinglaiho I'd love to know how you know that it's the 27" version as they both look exactly the same.

FYI they are 120Hz monitors as I purchased 3 of them the other day from Officeworks for my Eyefinity machine build.

    • Any good?

      • The sharpest screen I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in front of. Put my Dell Ultra sharps to shame.
        Awesome Price as well.
Also identical model shape as the 27, so not sure how that dude knows its the 27 and not the 23..

They're excellent monitors, the 120Hz makes everything buttery smooth and picture quality is great. The only real downsides are the black levels (pretty terrible, but I mostly use mine for gaming so I don't notice it often) and the 3D support isn't really there for nVidia users. I mean it works but it uses SBS 3d so the picture is blurry and… yeah don't get it for 3D if you've got nVidia hardware. I don't know how well it goes with AMD, comments wyldkard?

    • It's the 27" version because the stands are identical for each monitor size. On the 23" it's about as long as the screen itself, on the 27" the stand is quite a bit shorter :)

    • Probably because the screen size is bigger than the stand which the 24inch screen size is the same as the length of the stand

    Image Brightness 300 nits

Probably not a good monitor to get for those with school age kids…

    • Sorry JV, I didn't find this funny :-/

  • @Alzori Yeah, they work better with AMD/ATI for 3D as they were designed for them. I've bought the Sapphire 7970 GHz version Vapor-X 6GB Card. I've read of people with nVidia cards complaining about the 3D performance. They also come with a pair of Samsung Active Shutter 3D Glasses.

You can change the Black Level in the settings

    • Ah, thanks, I think I expressed myself badly. I'm referring to when the monitor has a completely black image sent to it (by DVI if that makes a difference) and the monitor doesn't get very dark - it's still putting off a fair bit of light and there's a bit of a blue-ish bleeding coming up from the bottom.

    • word is that you can use a modified inf to have 3D vision with the supplied Samsung glasses

      EDIT: but not perfect support

      • :o! Thanks for this man! I've been playing around with this for a bit, and have had a bit of a go at some 3D borderlands and l4d2 :D

Definitely not very smooth though in terms of setting it up, very awkward getting display settings right, getting pictures to show up and stuff like that. I don't think it helps that now I've got 2 of these monitors - one with standard driver, one with the hacked driver, and a TV plugged in with it's own driver. Switching between display modes and enabling different monitors is a bit of a pain :X

  • Hands down, easily the best monitor I've ever owned for 2D gaming.
These can perform as well, if not better, than some retro CRT monitors.
    10/10.

And FYI. You will only be able to achieve 120Hz via Dual-Link DVI or DisplayPort inputs. So you won't be able to adjust the HDMI black levels and have 120Hz at the same time.

  • I bought two of these on Wednesday to replace a couple of old AOC monitors I was using previously. The difference in image quality is astounding. The blacks are pretty good as far as I can see, and adjustable in the menu/settings to go even blacker. There's a bunch of gamma/vibrance processors that can be selected to improve colours, etc. but I'm a designer by trade so I didn't wan't to muck with the colours too much. The default brightness is a little too high for general use for my liking, so I toned that down a bit, but in games everything looks super bright and crisp.

Like others with NVIDIA cards have mentioned, I had trouble with 3D in games. The monitor comes with a Samsung 3D Game launcher software which enables side-by-side 3D, but as this halves the vertical resolution, it doesn't work that well. I'm keen to try out the modified .INF to hack NVIDIA's 3D Vision stuff to work (as suggested by HeXa above) though.

Overall, I'm very happy with this monitor.

  • This monitor has the best 2D image quality ever. However the 3D on this monitor isn't the best. As for me, I can see some ghosting. However it the 3D doesn't really make a big difference unless you're a big fan of 3D.

  • Do these have a glossy screen surface, or matte?

    • Glossy.

      • Phew. Just saved $279 ;)

    • They are glossy. I have the TA95027, kinda feel sad because its like a mirror during daylight haha

  • Just ordered one. I hope it's as amazing as it looks! I was looking at this a few months ago before I stole my brother's 24" syncmaster(since he was too lazy to fix his ethernet port he stopped using his PC lol). Now his computer is fixed, he has started nagging me for his screen back, so it was the perfect time for this deal ^_^
