  • Are you sure its not this one? The reference is the same NX.KLESA.005

    https://store.acer.com/en-au/swift-go-14-windows-11-home-amd…

    • Definitely not, considering the specs on the Officeworks site state 7640u. The 7840u Ryzen 7 version is also on sale for $1499.

    • Wonder which Officeworks has got wrong. The part number or the specs? The 7630 is much less appealing

    • +1

Even on that linked page, the top summary description reads 7530U, but the Specifications reads 7640U….
I was hunting for this laptop a couple months ago and gave up on it bc it appeared that whilst Asia market got the 7x40U 7th gen, Aus market was stuck with 7x30U rebadged 5th gen…
ETA: pretty sure 'SFG14-41…' is the rebadged 5th and 'SFG14-42…' is the 7th.

  • What's the regular price? Page doesn't even say Black Friday sale or anything.

    • +1

      $1299 was the original price

      • Thanks. Anyway of knowing if this has been the lowest for this laptop?

        • +2

I think it only came out in the last few weeks and was listed at $1299 previously.

          • @shellshocked: Yes, I think it might get discounted more a bit later, if in no hurry.

  • Nice specs.

  • Good price.
Only 60Hz compared to the Intel version being 90Hz, and no quicksync, but that probably won't matter for most people.

    • +1

      its 90hz apparently

      • Yes, I went into system settings to check.

    Just picked up ACER Swift X 14 OLED 13th Gen i5 13500H 16GB LPDD5 Ram,512GB nvme SSD, 2.8K OLED 120Hz, 500 Nits,Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 at Officeworks same price $997.

    • +1

holy thanks i just bought this one, saved me from OP's deal xd
bummer its only 4gb vram on a 1800p screen tho

    • Thanks for mentioning! I've been looking for something that would be great for photography and dabble in gaming with decent specs and this absolutely fits the bill! Great price!

    • Is your one much better than this deal? Since its out of stock I'm looking for similar alternatives. Seems like the main difference is the integrated graphics and also the CPU a bit slower..

  • Can we confirm what the display refresh is on this? I'm looking at the Officeworks site now and it says it's 60Hz. And there seem to be reports of both 90Hz and 60Hz in these comments. Also has anyone actually confirmed this is the 7640u model?

    • +1

Can confirm it is 7640U and 90Hz refresh rate.

      • @bluesky How is the battery life? I bought the Acer Swift X while it was discounted at Officeworks but felt the battery dropped too quickly. It had an it-13500H and an RTX 3050 in it.

Do you know roughly how long you get on a single charge? I heard the newer Ryzens are more efficient than Intel but there is a lot of conflicting information out there.

        • +1

Ryzen U series is a lot more power efficient than the P and H series Intel 13th gen. Regarding conflicting information, you only have to compare the TDP of the CPUs. The 7640u/7840u are 15 to 30w on average.

          https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-7-7840u

The 13th gen H series start at 45w can easily hit 115w.

          https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/232128/…

Higher wattage means more stress on battery, reducing efficiency.

Unfortunately people only see i5 and i7 and don't realise that there a significant differences in thermal design power between the CPUs, from U, P and H. There are situations where an i5 beats an i7 because of the high wattage. This causes the i7 to throttle and slow down because the cooling in a thin chassis can't keep up.

        • I only just saw your message, so couldn't respond earlier - but basically what @shellshocked said. My main priority is lower heat and efficiency, and this has a TDP of 15W, compared with the 13500H of 45W. So I discounted the latter early on.

Been busy with other stuff, so have not found out how long I can get from a single charge yet. When new, have done a few hours of setup, just to verify if it ran hot – and quite pleased that it didn’t.

          • @bluesky: @bluesky How is the build quality of this laptop? I've heard acer's support isn't really good so am worried about taking it to warranty if the device breaks.

Also, is this laptop loud at all? When playing games or doing intensive tasks will the fans be very loud or somewhat quiet?

            • @connorgu: It is slender and lightweight, so of course it is not as robust as some other robustly-built laptops, but still seems reasonable. It is not pitched as a gaming laptop, for that Acer Nitro series would be more suitable. But for everyday usage and especially traveling, it has the advantage of light-weight.

I also read quite a few comments about Acer’s poor customer support – but as I generally handle my laptop with care, I am hoping this will help. My previous el-cheapo Acer lasts over 8 years, and still going.

When sold at Acer (now out of stock) – it had a ‘Pickup warranty’ compared to cheaper ones which require ‘Mail-in’ warranty. And buying from a physical Officeworks seems to add even more assurance. I asked about warranty issues. They said just bring it back to the store, and was told there would be no return/handling costs from my side.

I also purchased this using an Amex card – to get an additional year of warranty. After that, it is a game of luck. Fingers-crossed.

My main thought is that heat is the enemy of electronic components in the long-term. So, if it runs relatively cool, hopefully it will last longer. I haven’t used it much yet, so can’t say how loud the fans can get running intensive tasks, but during the few hours of setup, I did not hear anything. Machine felt cool at the bottom.

  • specs are wrong? the model number leads to this https://store.acer.com/en-au/swift-go-14-windows-11-home-amd…

    • +1

This is the one, although the Acer page also has a mistake - the summary at the top says 7530U, but the specifications below says 7640U.
      The latter is correct.

      • +1

That is odd, Acer can't even get their own laptop description correct..

        • Yeah, pretty sloppy.
