The 100,000 bonus Qantas Points and $250 will generally be credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. The $250 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your Credit Card Contract with ANZ.

Need to wait for 3 months

      • My annual fee and rebate were applied after a month.
I hit the spend immediately but still waiting on the bonus points as they didn’t come through with the standard points last month

        • Bonus points came through this week, which is the end of the 2nd statement period (6 weeks after card application)

  • I assume paying Medibank Health Premiums still counts as an eligible purchase right?

  • Just got approved for this CC. Having a Bankwest CC and HSBC CC didn't seem to be an issue.

    • It's not the number of cards you have that matter but depend on your ability to repay

      • not always true. i got rejected from bendigo bank some years ago even though my capacity to repay is high, their reasoning was that i had 5 credit card applications within the last 12 months and they thought that was suspicious, ie basically knew i was churning and burning

        • Yep, that as well but I suspected that likely from a conservative bank. I was also got instant rejected from Bendigo for a low credit card. I then immediately apply for a higher credit from Citibank and got approved without problem the next day.

  • When does this deal expire - does anyone know?

    • Nobody knows but you can look up this same deal in the past years. My guess it can be 3-6months

    Sharing my application timeline:

    • 01 JAN 2024 - Applied online. Uploaded payslips.
    • 04 JAN 2024 - Verification call from ANZ. Application successful (verbally)
    • 06 JAN 2024 - Card posted. .
    • 09 JAN 2024 - Card received..
    • 09 JAN 2024 - Card and Internet Banking setup/activated via ANZ telephone customer service (20 minute wait).
  • Sorry when do we expect the points and cash back to be processed once you hit the limit?

  • Does anyone know when does this card offer expire?
And also does anyone know if there is a number of credit cards limit? I currently have 3 different credit cards but I am wondering if I should apply for this as a fourth or wait until I claim the bonus points for one of my other cards and then cancel it and then apply for this to keep it to 3 total? Cheers.

When I applied for this card I had 3 others, each with a $15k limit. It possibly depends on other factors such as income and all liabilities.

      • Ok thanks, You were approved im assuming ?

        • Yes sorry not clear.

      • Wait your three credit card total $45k limit?

        • Yes, correct. Now its $60k.

          • @Yola: Awesome now gives me hope to apply for the bigger cards.

            • @nightelves: But must consider income, expenses, and liabilities.

          • @Yola: How much do you make if you don't mind me asking to have $60k in credit card limit?

    • +3

Does anyone know when does this card offer expire?

ANZ never published end date, so nobody knows in any ANZ promos.

And also does anyone know if there is a number of credit cards limit? I currently have 3 different credit cards

Successful application depend (mostly) on work history, income, ability to service your current debts (loan, mortgage, credit card, phone contract, etc) and the one you applying, plus any other items in their assesment list (some banks may not like churners while other don't care). The total your existing credit more important than number of cards. Application having 3 cards with $30K total credit would have less chance than someone have 4 cards with, said, $20K total credit - assuming both earning same rate.

wondering if I should apply for this as a fourth or wait until I claim the bonus points for one of my other cards and then cancel it and then apply for this to keep it to 3 total

Work out your total existing liabilities plus this one see if your income can service for all

FYI, I have 6 existing credit cards and just successfully got approved for 7th one. My total credit limit for all of them is 1/3 of my annual income - no mortgage or other loans. But I'll close 2 of them soon once got the sign-up bonus.

  • I recently cancelled my ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card, anyone know if I need to wait a certain time before applying for this card? I think Amex is like 18 months but not sure about ANZ.

    Thanks in advance.

      12 months cool down.

      • thanks, just realised it's already in the post too! my bad!

The deal is good but ANZ sucks when it comes to credit card application process.

    • 7th Jan, applied online. Uploaded all documents incl. payslips for 3 months and rental statements for investment properties via the online portal (and we're not allowed to have spaces in document titles lol)
    • 8th Jan, received their automated email asking for documents to be uploaded. Called in to confirm my documents have been received. They said yes and application would take 3-5 business days to be reviewed. Was asked to submit additional document to prove that one of my other credit cards has been closed. So I submitted via their email.
    • 14th Jan, received the automated email again.
    • 15th Jan, called them again. They pretty much haven't reviewed my application, so the guy was doing it on the fly whilst on the phone with me. Put on hold for 5 mins for him to pull out all the documents, asked a bunch of questions to clarify, more waiting, more questions. Finally approved on the phone after 30 mins on the phone. He said card takes 2-7 business days to arrive.
      • 17th Jan, received the card and activated and used no problem straightaway.
  • After some anecdotal experiences on how long it is taking nowadays for the bonus points to be credited after spend?

Also did you statement period commence from the date of application, approval or card expiry?

Just trying to time some cards to not get the points too early whilst I wait my QFF membership year to lapse so points club plus counter resets to zero.

    • Sorry this maybe a stupid question, but why do you want to wait for your QFF membership to reset, what benefits does this give you ?

      • Squid1 wants the 100k bonus credited only after his membership annual date (where the bonus points will count towards his requirement to retain Points Club into the following year). Getting it credited earlier will be wasteful for this purpose.

    • Looks like it got transferred into QFF pretty soon after reaching the spend requirement

    • I applied on 22/11/23 and hit the spend a week later.
Bonus points came through on 12/1/24 which is the end of the 2nd statement period

  • Got the $250 but not the QFF

    • +1

same, got the rebate today but not Qff point. I guess the point will only be transferred once the next statement generated

      • yeh fair call. I got some points when last statement was generated

  • has anyone had any success cancelling the card and ask the annual fee to be pro-rata refund?

    • I used to call up after the fee was charged to ask about it. First year of annual fee (probably around 2019) they refunded the whole lot. 2nd year they refunded half. The 3rd year they refused to refund anything.

Went through the cancellation process and called their bluff, card was cancelled which was ok by me.

Chances are unlikely more recently, from my observations over the past few years, there’s less fee waiver deals to begin with, so I don’t think they feel inclined to waive them given you go to a competitor and you’ll get charged a similar fee

  • +4

i called up today and they processed a refund of my annual fee

    • How many days did you hold this card and how much did you get back?

      • 2 months (to get my points and cashback credited) , person on phone said they are refunding $370

        • +1

Wow, so you made a profit after getting the bonus points? As you would've gotten $250 back previously, i.e. $175 annual fee net.

          • +1

@firestint: correct. happened 14 months ago when i had the card the first time too.

            • @offthetap: Nice! Did you call up to close the card and then request a refund of the fee or did you already close it online and then call up to request the refund?

              • +3

@Zolo: i called up (spent 45 mins on hold getting to the right dept) asked to both close the card and refund the annual fee.

                • +2

@offthetap: Thanks for the tip - I got the same result ($370 annual fee refunded) by messaging through the app.

                • +2

@offthetap: Thanks! Just called them today to close the card and they confirmed a refund of $370

                  • @Zolo: What am I doing wrong? I messaged them via the function in app, the consultant refused to refund on the grounds that they've given me a refund previously (back in Dec 2022) as a gesture of goodwill.

So I then called up and the guy basically pointed me to clause 16 in the conditions of use document and said given I've received my bonus points, I am not eligible for any refund.

Any annual or other periodic fees are charged for the relevant year or period or any part of it. This means, unless we agree otherwise, that we will not refund them once paid, even if a Credit Card is cancelled or your Credit Card Account is closed

Argued that my friend who applied around the same time managed to get his annual fee refunded, the guy still refused to issue a refund.

                    • @firestint: Strangely enough we had the same issue when we tried to refund my wife's card.
They refused to refund it stating the promotion was already rewarded.
Will try again on live chat later on.

First time I did it, I only asked the question and they offered to refund me..

  • Anyone know whether BPAY to pay rent to the REA counts as an eligible spend. Can't find anything on the T&Cs about it not counting?

    • -1

generally anythings pay via BPAY are excluded.
Unless you’re using 3rd party payment like zip pay, which come with extra fees.

      • Damn.. ive been reading that if the BPAY biller accepts CC then it should go through without issues but if they dont then the transaction is deemed a cash advance and then this is excluded from acquiring points.. might as well try and see what happens

      • +1

There's no fee with zip pay. I've been using it since beem it stopped accepting credit card. Just need to make sure you always pay it off straight away.

          • @evgpek: I've never paid any fee to zip pay. Used it last week too.

          • @evgpek: Zip Money <> Zip Pay

        • Did you have to register for a zip-money account (given zippay limit is only $1000). Website also says there is a one-off establishment fee that may apply for zip-money

          • +1

@sim777: I have zip pay, not zip money or zip plus, which could be where the confusion comes from.

My zip pay limit is $1,500.

I always pay it off immediately as soon as I make the bpay and there is no fees or surcharge for using it. I've never had to pay off more than my maximum in bpay, but when I pay it off my limit goes back to $1,500 available to spend so I imagine you can just make another bpay to cover however much more you need to pay.

            • @CodeXD: How do you get to$1,500 I am stuck on $350?

              • @Yola: Took about 4 months of using zip pay for them to send me a link for account limit increase.

                • @CodeXD: Thank you. Was that in the app or email?

            • @CodeXD: I've been using zippay for about 2 months all the time, constantly having to pay it off as I have $350

the pricks won't offer an increase!

              so annoying. hopefully soon.

    • unless it changed

Bpay works for Eligible requirement and points on VISA

Anyone with a VISA account check your statements where you've paid using BPAY, then check your reward points

Its Mastercard with the heavy restrictions, I missed out on points for a mastrercard, because I didnt pay attention, thinking I was well over requirements. I knew Bpay didnt count but also other things like utilities - this was a mixed bag though

Cant remember for VISA, but I do recall for AMEX giftcards count

  • Hm, got rejected for this, despite having way higher than required income and super low expenses. I have gotten 3 new credit cards in the last 12 months though, all at $6k limit and closed one so far (NAB, CBA, Westpac). Would that cause the rejection? Was so looking forward to getting even more points with a massive annual spend coming up.

    • Would that cause the rejection?

      Possibly but no guarantee!!

Have you had any previous cards/accounts from ANZ before? I found if I had a history with a bank, any future applications would be easier to get approved - on top of the ability to service the loan (ie income, stable job, ect). Never get a rejection from big4 with $6K-2K credit cards, but failed with Bendigo & Bankwest when applied for their low credit cards.

I also try to keep my total credit below 40% my salary.

I had opened 7th cards in 2023 - not all active of course.

      • Actually turns out I made a mistake in my application and put my minimum repayment from my credit cards as the full monthly repayment that I make so it looked like I had massive amount of CC debt! I don’t have a current account with ANZ, I used to but I closed it.

        • +1

It probably won't make a difference as ANZ told me they use the card limit as actual repayment (regardless of actual usage). I tried telling them I only spend $100-$400 per month on the $6K card but they didn't care (or listen).

          • +1

@ddhar: Really? That’s annoying! It definitely made a difference for me, because originally I put my minimum credit limit as $2k+ when it was actually $50, on a $6k total limit card. So when I clarified this on the phone, plus confirmed I wasn’t proceeding with a mortgage (had a pre approval also) they approved it.
Took forever to get the process through, my above comment of rejection was on 24 Jan, then after multiple calls to clarify my app, upload payslips and chase them to look at said payslips, finally the card was received on 12 Feb.

  • I applied for this card and on the call with their contact centre, they decided to instead offer me the Platinum variant. Frustratingly, the lady on the phone insisted she could/would not tell me anything about the card (AF, bonus points, earn rate, etc.), other than offering me a credit limit of $11K (short of the minimum $15K on the Black card). She also kept asking me if I wanted to accept the offer.

    Has this happened to anyone?

    • +1

i share this experience…. was just told you can find the details on the bonus points and earn rate etc online. They shouldn't be offering a product if they can't give out any info on it.

      • Unfortunately for me, nab, virgin money and westpac (including partner banks) are out as I'm still within their cooling down periods. Currently hold an amex so that's out too.

Only this card and perhaps the Citibank (80k VFF, $199 AF & $5k spend) are my current options. Not sure what else is out there?

        • I take it you're on a cooling period for the StGeorge and partners?

          Nothing else at worthwhile value.

Qantas premier platinum card 60k for $349 if your desperate.

          • @tonzies: I could never get approved for St George/BoM/BankSA platinum cards (despite later on being approved for $15k limit cards with NAB) so I sort of wrote them off. Might try again if there is nothing else.

Otherwise the ANZ FF Qantas 75k for $195 is still better value, although it annoys me in principle to accept something less than what I applied for.

  • does anyone have a referral they could give me? i tried using the referral link and got a msg back from another user that "the referral is for ANZ Plus Debit Card Digital Banking Account"

    • +2

There is no referral for ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Credit Card

  • +2

ANZ are the most useless pricks in the world. No contact number for credit card application, they keep requesting the same documents over and over again, in the end I cancelled the application.

    • I called a general number and quoted my application # to speak to someone

    • +1

call 133333 and quote "new credit card", the assessor approved me over the phone

  • Just to confirm, if I’ve cancelled my card on 07/02/2023, then i can apply this card on 08/02/2024 to be eligible for this points for the 12 months cooling period?

    • +3

do you realllllly need to confirm this? ;)

  • Thanks OP, applied

  • I got both anz plus and anz. Now my application tagged under anz plus but all salary goes to anz. Now credit assessment team said I have to merge two account to proceed my application to next stage but anz team said these two are different and can’t be merged.

Anyone has similar issue and found any solution?

    • Yeah you have to go to a branch and get ANZ to merge all your previous profile into one crm and keep that active the whole time. Saves you from headaches down the track.

      • It helps. thanks

  • Seems to be different for everyone. Hit my spend shortly after getting the card and got the bonus points less than 2 weeks after - AF also charged at the same time.

Now just waiting for the cashback

  • 16th Feb - Received statement
    23rd Feb - Received $250 credit

Still waiting for 100k bonus points

    • @gembel - thanks for the data point. Have you got your points now? I hit the $5k spend and only received the base 5k points in first statement. Was charged annual fee but no bonus points or $250 credit.

      • +1

Gor the bonus points with the 2nd statement.

  • Is there anyway to get the digital version of credit card like other banks? today my application approved but i do not think i will get the card before 29th to claim this offer. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/829318

    any inputs will be helpful

    • You just need to register by 29th Feb. You have until end of May to get the bonus points.

  • Just closed mine and got a refund of the annual fee over the chat in the app.
    Beautiful.

  • Further to this, I tried calling up again this morning and this time the rep was more helpful. He managed to get an approval to get both my annual fee of $370 and Qantas program fee of $55 refunded.

What I'm not sure now is how the fee would be refunded, he said the refund will be processed into my credit card account and I have to call up to get them to transfer to my debit account? But there's no way to check given the credit card account doesn't appear in my app anymore. For those that got a refund, how did you get it back?

    • yeah, rep told me that today . I have a linked Progress Saver account which they said it can be refunded in to, but, I need to call up after the next statement is issued to get it done.

So basically on your next statement date, a statement will be issued on the closed account that shows a refund of the annual fee. You need to contact them to let them know how to return it to you. In hindsight I wish I didn't pay my entire card balance off and left the annual fee remaining.

You can still view statements on closed accounts.

      • I have called after holding for 2 months but they won't refund the annual fee, they were quite firm about it. I read the thread and saw that it's super inconsistent. I mean, there's no point closing it if I don't get the annual fee refunded, except prior to the year ending since the points earn is higher than my other cards + there's 2 QF lounges. But it seems a bit weird that some people get refunded and others don't…

        • maybe so many have requested it that they've cracked down on it a bit

          • +1

@bohn: Yeah I would not be surprised, it's actually surprisingly generous to be refunding annual fees knowing people are cancelling after getting the points. That said it's still annoying to be rejected.
