Was hoping Australia got the 4V Hobby Tools that ALDI UK had in their recent Special Buys:

Review of the first three on YouTube

    • 4v soldering iron

damn i totally would have given this a go if it was an option.

      • A search shows it was 15GBP, or roughly 28.7 dollarydoos.

Heck of a lot cheaper than a Pinecil v2 or a TS101, that's for sure.

Edit: Sounds like it struggles if what you're soldering has any thermal mass though, so that might be a pass from me if that ever comes up

        • Pinecil cost me under $60 delivered, and while not completely portable it is a lot lighter than the soldering station to lug out of the drawer

        • Yeah those battery soldering irons are not great IMO. Too slow to heat, and the wattage is much too low.

There are some 18650 based ones around that are a bit better. In theory a 21700 based soldering iron could be decent wattage. But I have not seen one of those.

I recently bought the FNIRSI HS-01. It's pretty nice, and on sale from this evening on Aliexpress. The kit (without charger or cable) is about $55 delivered. (I think the kit with the charger and cable is not as good value)

          • @Prong: Not the cheapest but I use a TS100 which accepts between 12V and 24V input. When I need it to be portable I made a cable which means I can power it from an 18V ozito pxc battery.

            • @Simon Wright: Yeah they are nice. The FNIRSI HS-01 is pretty much the same concept. I mostly run it via USB-C, but it comes with a USB-C to DC adaptor, and will run from 9 - 24V. An Ozito battery is a good option!

    • I've heard that duck tape is also good for temporary repairs.

      • +1

        Yes, it's quacktastic.

        • Thanks Mr Blue Duck

      • That was the original brand name iirc.

I have one of the pressure washers. They are garbage. Wouldn't recommend. Hose is stiff, hard to wind it up, pressure isn't nearly as good as a Karsher. There really isn't much good about it.

      • +1

Only sharing my own opinion. You can take it as you wish. Personally I would say spend a little more get a decent brand. I think i would rather use a regular hose to clean my car than this. Also, the tile scrubbing attachment isn't worth the plastic it's made out of. It does not work.

pressure isn't nearly as good as a Karsher

There are feeling opinions and fact and useful opinions.
Karcher (not Karsher) makes several models of pressure washer machines so you didn't mention what machine (and price) you're talking about also Karcher machines are more expensive than this Aldi one.
For $100 this is the best you can get and I'm sure you understand that with $200 you can get a better machine and even your $200 machine has a better rival just you need to spend $300.
There are many different apples and each has a different price.

          • @billadm:

            Karcher (not Karsher)

If you really want to be pedantic, go all in: Kärcher, not Karcher or Karsher.

        @WatchNerd
Notice you left out the negative reviews😜
Including my negative review - below the first positive review you shared🤔

Bought similar looking Aldi Ferrex washer few years ago. It was crap!!
        Returned within month.
Patio attachment & main nozzle fell apart after few uses! Aldi staff weren't surprised😜

Have warned before to beware of Aldi reviews!
Don't judge an Aldi product based on reviews of similar looking product with same name…

Suppliers to Aldi regularly change manufacturers, adding same product name & Aldi trademark to similar but different product.
(Consulted for Aldi supplier of appliances, on quality control. Quit on first day!)

So "a few years old", "7-8 years ago", "couple of years old" (or mine) are pointless reviews of current model! It's not the same product!

Keep receipt. Expect to return it!
If it's an Aldi product - it's always a gamble!

[Just returned 4 sets of Aldi solar lights advertised ~60d ago. Totally useless as fell off walls it was screwed into. Fixing point of product was poorly glued in & fell out. Light then hit the ground & was wrecked. A total design fail!
But Aldi solar lights bought years ago are still working! As expected, the rechargeable batteries are starting to fail.]

    • Thanks for sharing - was looking to upgrade my very old leaking cheapo $59 pressure washer and the Aldi deal looked good for the price.
Aren't all pressure washer hoses stiff? My cheap one is… but then again at the public car wash I think they have more flexible hoses.

      • It's difficult to wind up if that makes sense. The winder is cheap flimsy plastic and hard to turn the handle. The hoses I find on the Karcher brand ones are easier to move around and manage.

        • Ok makes sense. Mine is crap and basically have to store the hose with only one bend.
Does the Aldi one have universal fittings by any chance? I have some accessories for gutter and pipe cleaning I want to be able to use and it has some kind of universal fitting.

      • +1

No. I had a Karcher K2 which had a stiff plastic hose that was hard to manage. In contrast, I bought a Gerni 5300 that has a steel braided hose and the hose is much more friendly. My thoughts are the cheaper hoses use stiffer plastic to manage the pressure, but the better quality hoses use the steel braid to manage the pressure.

        • My old Gerni has a stiff hose. Can be a bit unwieldly but no big deal overall.

  • 100pc set looks handy for a work bench?

    • why stop at work bench, weekend cashies is only a facebook marketplace ad away

  • I got it on clearance when they had it last time, it's not bad. I think i only paid 17 dollars or something like that.

  • +1

My aldi pressure washer just stopped working other day had it for 6 years hasn't done a lot of work it had 3 years warranty now they've upped it to 5 years impressive.

My aldi pressure washer just stopped working other day

Did you check the on/off switch was on?

      • Yes of course jv but thanks for the idea .

        • Did you also check the tap?
          Easy to miss.

  • The Socket and Bit Sets beat any deal ever posted here on Ozbargain so I'm not going to waste $300 on an overpriced Wera set LOL

  • I was looking to buy an Ozito pressure washer, which is better ?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-1800w-2030psi-high-pressur…

    • Don't know sorry, but if you want one which lasts the tip I got was to purchase one with a METAL (not plastic) pump.

Aldi 5yr warranty, Ozito 3 years but a couple of unhappy Aldi users here

      • Which one is metal?

        • See Ozito comment below.

You need to ask sellers to confirm because there are so many brands and models around (cheap models MAY be plastic). Generally Gerni, Karcher and the more recognised brands will have metal pumps in their range.

          • @Igaf: Ah.. Whoops!

Any idea which one would be the easiest to get an extension hose for / to clean a tile roof.

My mate stupidly just put 2 Karchers out the front for me to collect/ borrow.
            Both stolen….face palm…

    • +2

The ozito is pretty good. I like mine. It's got great reviews and a metal pump.

  • +1

Would totally avoid the pressure washer - pressure isn't great, hose is rubbish and the fittings are worse.

  • +1

I have both cable tie sets - one is reusable, the other is use once.

    Would buy again.

  • I have the screwdriver set from last time it was on sale (and got it reduced to $20). No complaints really. It's my set for inside the house and the screwdrivers are nice to handle.

  • Waiting for some Bunnos price matching

    • Bunny-O

  • Anybody else miss the screws they used to regularly sell in the DIY special buys?

    • I don't miss them. I've found the metal used in them to be too soft and I've had a couple snap on me. "Once bitten twice shy."

      • I've used hundreds of them without issue including a few different types. Considering their prices I guess it's not surprising to hear others had problems but I've been a fan of them.

  • Bought the pressure washer. For $100 with all the accessories seems cheap enough and hopefully better than my cheapo one. Now just need to source a cheap quick connector adaptor

  • Hi Guys, never used pressure washer before but just wondering either this Aldi’s one or Ozito from Bunnings - is safe to use on outdoor tiles (alfresco area)? I am worried if the water pressure damages the tile grout.
