I've been using the HD version for a month and it's been good for my needs, though if you require 4K quality, you might want to consider the 4K version instead.

@Jessie Ryder: Have had the HD version for a few months on my FHD garage tv. Works just as well as my other 4K versions.
I have the HD and 4K and you won't notice much difference besides resolution.
But these devices are starting to become a bit long in the tooth - probably due for a bit of a spec bump soon.

Bought the HD yesterday and had a quick play last night. Seems ok (our TV isn't 4k).
The battery compartment in the remote was very tough to open.
The Netflix App noticed that we weren't in the same household as other users in the same family….
(The AppleTV 2nd Gen Netflix App still allows us to use it, but frequently drops our recently watched history which is annoying)
I've got AppleTV 2nd Gen with an OzBargain family Netflix account (I'm not the main account holder). Using Netflix on the iPhone is no issue but when I airplay to the Apple TV I get the you're not in the same household issue. Anything special you do to get Netflix working via ATV2?
I'm using the Netflix app on the ATV2 itself. We were already members of the family before changes were introduced. Go there, set it up, come back?
I was already a family member from before as well. When I tried the Netflix app on atv2, it too had been affected. At the moment we’re up and running again thanks to generating a holiday code, but when it expires I will retry logging in and out of the atv2 and seeing how we go. Thanks for the info!

Recently tried with streamed Japanese Festival movies - were very scrambled & unwatchable.
So sent movies from laptop to TV. Ok, but could do better with new Chromecast…
As use free / profit Boost SIMs for home Wi-Fi, using phone as hotspot… think HD is about the limit for my streaming.
Upgraded to HD here for affordable $29🎉👍

Sorry for ignorant question, but this is not as good as the Chromecast with Google TV that I bought a couple of years ago? Does either have advantages over my older model?

Yeah very odd that they don't actually say whether they will honour the sale price when they come back into stock.
Edit: Spoke with support via chat (I asked if they were a chatbot as it seemed a bit robotic, but they reckon they were a real human). He referred me to terms and conditions which state " Available only while supplies last." so I'm doubtful they will honour pricing if it comes back into stock after sale ends tonight.
Funny that they appear back in stock the day after the special ended. :/
