Omg.. I put the 1st Gen one of these up on marketplace for $50 thinking thats a fair price. Who knew the latest model is now only worth $70. I remember when the nest hubs were ~$250

    • +3

      Did it sell?

    • +3

I was trying to buy one yesterday on Marketplace and everyone has them at $100… They wonder why they don't sell!

One guy told me $70 and it's mine (Gen 1, No box, etc). I told him I'd buy it brand new for that price. Still didn't manage to get one, so purchased from Good Guys

      • Now you have new one with warranty 👍

  • your the man ! bought one for under $70 happy days

    • +2

Is $68 cheaper than staff price?

    • +1

      Forget to change account?

  • +1

Not many stores for C&C tho

  • +10

Don’t bother, the latest updates makes the whole system so frustrating, unresponsive, it can’t understand commands or just do something totally unrelated (asking to turn on a fan, then goes to turn on the lights in another room)

    • I'm sure there will be further updates that will fix any issue you're experiencing. It's google

      • +13

        It's google

        Exactly

This has been my experience. It feels like the whole Google Assistant has gone down hill.

          • +2

@ihfree: Pretty much, it used to be great. As time went on it started understanding less to the point there I don't talk to it no more. Still like thes as a photo frame though.

          • +2

@ihfree: Have been using google home and assistant for 5 odd years, this has been my experience too.. it's getting worse..

I'm sure they're trying to close down the Google home ecosystem by driving people away from it by just making it so shit

    • +6

Agree. I got mine free with the Pixel 7 and it's now basically a glorified button to turn all the lights off when I get into bed.

    • +3

Same I've just switched my two google nests to echo devices due to endless random issues, am just using the Google nest as a clock at this point lol

    • Yep
Im not going to buy anymore google Home product until I see a better direction from Pixel Tablet and smart speakers.
Been waiting for the 2nd gen wired Google Doorbell to arrive and then get Google hubs.

    • +2

Agreed, I'm hoping these introduce the 'with Bard' thing and it fixes a lot of problems. Or they make you buy new devices for that (even though it's all web based…)….

    • +5

Agreed. Google home assistant has gotten so much worse in the last 3 years. It is much less reliable and makes regular stupid errors. Apparently it is because the google assistant business is not making enough money so google the server performance they provide and even make some commands processed on the device. Generally most things google have been getting worse the last few years. They really need a change of leadership but they are making money and no longer care about leadership and innovation. Hopefully new LLM technology really disrupts their search business and forces them to put some effort in again

  • Cheers OP, bought one

Telstra Rewards Store has it for reduced points for those eligible.

    • +4

yep, 26500 points from memory. Perfect for getting rid of expiring Telstra points.

  • can we stack it with $30 good guys instore coupon if we take 2?

    • Probably yes, it only say spend over $100

    • Is this price valid online only or also in store?

    • Somehow only asks for $57 at checkout.

      • +1

        lol how?

        • It didn't say why. Everything else said the price advertised here but when it came to payment it said $63 ($57 + $6 Auspost delivery). Hopefully I'm getting the right product.

          • @nwa: Any help in achieving this? I’m not getting similar price to you 😭

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one. Used mine & husband’s snackback $5 good guys gift cards to bring it down to $58.

  • +1

I'm new to this google nest thing, what's the regular price of this item?

  • +3

Freakin laggy, slow, rubbish. Avoid this!

    • +2

      This…
Not much difference compared to Echo Show tbh

  • +1

Google can watch you sleep — and the results are truly illuminating!

  • Damn, I bought a nest mini for more than this :(

  • +3

If you're complaining about performance, it's cause they just moved to Fushsia OS. It'll take time to optimise old hardware onto the new os

  • JB HiFi have just done the $68 for me. No stock at local TGG.

  • +2

Already have 2 of these at home. Great to use as a clock in my master bedroom (which auto dims when you sleep) and for the living room where my daughter watches Cocomelon.
Got a third for my man cave. Thanks OP.

  • I got one finally. Been looking for 2nd one but it was over 60 bucks. Anyway Thanks.👍

  • Thanks OP. Just collected mine from TGG. First Google Nest Hub for me. Good price to test it out!

  • Cheers picked up another one

  • Thanks OP, price matched at JB, so I can use GC online.

It's smaller than I thought, but a good price to try a smart display.

    • You got them to match the price beat price?
Was going to go to officeworks or JB soon to try and get them to do that.

      • Yeah, got them to match $68.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Did pricebeat at Officeworks. Should be a handy screen for security cameras

    • Is it for any security camera? Do you know if it connect dahua camers?

      • Not sure you can use it with them. Works with nest doorbell and ring. I just got a Riolink but havent received it yet. From what i could see online i can at least view it on the hub so im happy with that.

        • Sure it works with Ring? I remember reading somewhere that the support for Ring stopped.

      • +1

I am using it with some Imou Ragers which I think are just Dahuas (not sure though).

        • I have configured my dahua nvr with imou app, then added imou integration in google home. It works but loading of live on a particular camera takes edges, so it is kimd of useless

      • +1

Just walked out of office works doing the same thing. Got it for $64.60!

    • +1

Using it for the same reason. The nest doorbell is trash without it.

  • I have recessed power point, can I wall mount this Google Nest Hub 2? Will it give flush look to the wall? Any recommendations for wall mount for this unit?

    • Might be difficult with the speaker/stand as it protrudes at the back. I'm sure there would be a solution but it's not flat like a tab.

  • I really wanted one of these three years ago but I couldn't justify the price at the time. However, all this time later I still can't think of a good use for this product.

    • +4

I use to view my cameras, kids play riddles, games with it, occasional YouTube for news, photoframe if you sync your photos to google photos, turning on /off lights, white noise for sleep, if I am outside home, can broadcast a message for Mrs to pickup phone, find my android phone if I lose in the house, kids bells to brush teeth before going to bed or night to windup for the night. Etc.

      • The sound reminders for kids is probably a good one. They really do respond to "school bell" type of stuff.

  • Brought for replacement of an old 80’s alarm clock, don’t like using the phone for alarm (want it out of bedroom during night), so was going to spend $40-$50. Pity it won’t have battery backup. See if this last for 40yrs.

  • I have two of these and used to love them. These days they seem to not work properly. Commands that I used to be able to use just don’t work anymore and even basic things, like timers, have become unreliable. I used to recommend these to everyone but now I kind of think “don’t bother”

  • +2

Attention if you haven't already purchased it. You can go to Bunnings and Pricebeat it by 10%. That's $61.20.

  • Price check option (to reduce price) missing as of 10:45 ACST Mon 27th

    • $68 was to price match Bing Lee but pricing back to $79 now. Will only price match $77 of OW/Bunnings

  • Anyone get theirs shipped yet ?

    • There was a system glitch with my order as payment was taken but didn't generate an order so it was cancelled. A refund is on the way, they gave a coupon incase I want to buy it again although I can see its a few dollars short.

  • Order still hasn't shipped.

  • Mine says it's due by 22/12/2023 :(

    • Lucky, mine says 22/1/24

      • You all should double check your order was created on their end. There was a system glitch with mine which I only found out after waiting until delivery date to find out nothing was ever going to be delivered.

        • Got an email apologising for the delay and $20 store credit so I think that confirms they do have an order on their end

  • Still waiting for pick-up…😤😤😤

Ordered it Christmas gift for my friend but…

  • Still waiting…
