If you want to do something interesting, buy the 2TB Crucial P5 deal and then a PCIE enclosure for $20.

Pricematch at OW, oh wait they are already selling it for $98

    • Not any more - the OW price is now (back to) $209 each.

      • Of course they won’t be extending the Black Friday sale after all 😂

  • Asus ROG Strix Arion S500 500GB USB-C Portable SSD for $59 pick up in Auburn https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/813150 is a greater deal to this

    • That deal is OOS.

      • still available C&C in Auburn instore

    • I know the BF/CM deals are expired, but how is it a better deal?

      500GB for $59 whilst the T7 Shield is 1TB for $99.

You get more GBs per dollar with the T7 Shield.

I wish the 1TB Beetle was cheap again (~ $92),
but it's now priced at $115.

  • Ow will price beat Amazon on the 4tb

  • TGG has same price, can use the 12% cashback from Shopback later this evening.

    • TGG was bought by JB so most items are the same price so the JB company can try get customers who walk out of JB. I don't know if that makes any sense lol.

  • Total noob question, are these good for just storing photos and videos?

    • Im also looking to store family photo but i am always scared i would lose it all.

For storage of photos, i.e. long term archiving not regular access, I use a large HDD + cloud backup (I'm with Backblaze). Cloud backup is cheaper than cloud storage as it assumes infrequent access.

SSD's need powering up regularly so not ideal for photo storage. Spinning HDD is still the best option if you want long term storage. By long term I means 3-5 years.

      • +1

Yep, SSDs need the occasional power to keep the 'signals' strong. HDDs don't need this as they are magnetic, although this means they are more prone to failure if you accidentally put anything magnetic near it which is pretty common.

Thanks, TIL about the HDD being magnetic

    • Yes, for short term such as a videographer or photographer shooting directly onto the drive, then exporting and editing on a computer. Wouldn't recommend storing long term though as mentioned below by a couple others.

    • Yes you can. Its a simple plug and play

  • Device is now back to $209, however I was just able to get it price matched to digidirect's pricing of $98.
