  • the Dell XPS 8500 Desktop is $750 off lol

  • Is the Vostro 470 any good for gaming? reasonable price or not? I need a monitor too so not a bad deal with the 24"

    • Its got a GT 620, very low end card. So no, this wouldn't be any good for gaming.

      • ok thanks, whats a GT 620? I can't see that number anywhere on the specifications

        • Sorry I was looking at the $799 Vostra 470. The $1299 has a midrange card which could do some gaming. But for $1300 you could do a much better custom gaming rig

        • Could you give me a list of parts for a decent gaming rig for under $1300?

          Week-old quote for a friend

          $1,103.00

Just add a 24" monitor for ~$160 and it'll play anything out right now.

        • Cool thanks, are those parts from 1 particular store or just best prices across various places?

        • +1

All prices from PcCaseGear, much easier the then old saturday morning drive-around. Could probably save a few dollars going to msy, not sure what their stock availability is like though

        • thats great, I checked a few parts and PC Case gear was actually a few bucks cheaper. just hope the shipping isnt a killer to Tassie. i am trying to find someone who can build it for me, i built a pc back in the day but it was about 20 years ago lol

They've gotten a lot easier to build since then, just look at a tutorial on youtube and you'll be fine!

        • thanks mate Yeh I might just do that!

        • Just FYI, these days a decent gaming rig (one that could play the latest games smoothly at high or even max settings) can be built for as little as half that.

Hell, I spent $270 on my crappy decade-old box ($270 covered motherboard, cpu ,ram, gpu) and play the latest games with much-better-than-consoles visuals.

Try reddit.com/r/buildapc to see a few builds, or get one done for you. Hellbound's is a good all-round PC but there are plenty of similar options, some may suit you better.

        • thanks I'll check it out

I don't know why you recommend the 3570K cpu which is unlocked for overclocking, and pair it with a B75 mobo that wont allow it to be overclocked. Get the non K cpu, 3570 and save some money.

Also that power supply is quite expensive Antec makes quality psu's a Neo Eco 520 or VP550 will only cost about $70 and is plenty of power for a single 660ti

Probably want a dvd drive too, otherwise seems fine.

  • thanks mate Yeh I might just do that!
