  • Is this easy to install , wiring and all ?

    • +2

Just installed one over the weekend!
Helps a lot to really plan out where to mount it, where the cable it going to go and where the power is coming from. With the planning, it was 3 simple screws and some 3M cable mounts, it was done in under 1 hour.

      • Thanks 😊 yeah I was planning to take it overseas for my parents but planning is going to be interesting as you mentioned !

      • Hi is there a mobile application that we can use to get notifications when someone walks through. And can we live stream through mobile app and can it do recording in a sad card. Please explain

It comes with a 9V DC plug pack transformer (not waterproof) that you'll need to plug in to a power point to power the camera. This is probably the hardest part. I had to install a power point in the roof space to connect to the cameras under the eaves. You'll also need to connect it to a wired ethernet cable or use wi-fi (2.4G) if your signal strength is good enough at the camera location. If you're not going to pay for the optional cloud storage for recordings, you'll need to also purchase a micro SD card to insert in the camera to store your recordings locally. I have all my recordings going to my Synology NAS that offers more storage. Setting up the camera is pretty simple using the Tapo app.

      • How do you connect the camera with your NAS?

        • +3

Synology has their Surveillance Station package that supports many ONVIF cameras (including the C320WS). My DS920+ and DS220J come with 2 free camera licences each that I pool together so all 4 cameras are recorded on the one NAS. It's a bit of fiddling around but there are several articles online that help. Once setup it has been rock solid.

Do they work only with power plug and sd card? why wifi or ethernet or internet needed? mount it behind the windows inside, just plug into power point, insert sd card for 1 or 2 night-hours, and in the morning take out sd card, insert into laptop and see which bstrd/bic has dumped the rubbish in the night. Is it possible?

    • I think it needs an internet connection to set up the camera but can be disconnected after. The only down side is that the date/time will be incorrect without it pinging an NTP server. With internet connected the camera could send you a notification that movement has been detected if you wanted to confront the dumper!

Just a word of advice about mounting it behind a window. I've tried this and the infra-red for the night vision reflects off the inside of the glass so all you see is a bright white patch! Turning off night vision stops the infra-red reflection but you'll only be able to see shadows and not make out faces.

Thank you, especially, for the windows part, I don't have wifi, router etc, but just laptop's WWAN sim card internet, if internet is only for initial setup, I disconnect it later. no need to confront with dumping insane person/people. EPA will deal with them. Thanks.

  • If you need to route wires, i would just buy a POE camera over wifi ones, every time…one wire, better picture

  • Damm I didn’t get an email from TGG for a code specifically today :(
