    • plenty of ozbargainers got it for sub-$600 in October

    • I just found my purchase receipt for about this price just now. I don't think this is very good considering.

Don't feel ashamed, at all. You brought what you thought was a deal. Kudos for trying, you're braver than most

      • Thanks

  • Paid about 1300 at launch

  • Not a deal at all. Bought for about $950 2 weeks back via JB Hifi trade-in deal.

I think everyone is looking at this deal from the wrong way,

This is outright price, no trade in, no bonus credit, no promote code, (and no cheating and screwup)…. For that its is a good price. There are people that need to by a phone outright and for that its a good deal.

One way to check that (and painful) is to see what the trade in value is and that should be about 50% of the phone. This model is currently trading at 855 to 870 so I say the price is right.

The problem is that as a ozbargainer, you need to consider trade in bonus, promote code and tricks.

      • You will be surprised how many people pay retail price for their phones…..

But trading in a phone is losing something before getting something in return.

          • @YellowKnight: With Samsung trade in I did back in May, I used my old Samsung Bud for $1 and got the full trade in bonus no issues, but yes, it is an effort to get to that point, but thats who we are, "the experts" as what Gerry said…

          • +2

@YellowKnight: The Samsung game plan has been like that for sometime now and its all about trading in at the correct time (excluding those who cheat and complain about trade in value being too low).

You can't look at it from the point how much you are loosing, but from the point how much you spend per year on a new handset.

The first round with a low value trade in / outright is the most painful one. For example, my wife trade a S10 for a S22 512GB ultra at launch. Net cost after all bonus is about 1400. From this point onward, I an not expecting her to pay more than 700 per trade per two years. So you are paying ~350 a year to have a new top of the line phone to use every two years, I think that is not a bad deal at all.

Alternatively if you don't have the urge to get new phones so often, you can wait and use your phone to its lowest value. However you will be paying more per trade, and it roughly end up the same per year you pay.

        • I wont be surprised as these people cant be faithful ozbargainer

  • I spent $650 when it was just released on jan…LOL

    • how tho

I love it when people claiming they got it for XXX….

Those of us who traded often know that the extreme low values are often isolated cases, some codes stacked when they are not suppose to, or some are given more than 1 code. Then of course you can get trade in ID for an expensive and not send the phone in, but that is cheating and the phone will be ban for further trade in until they clear their database.

As a rule of thumb, trade in values + trade bonus + loyalty discount all stacks up. Most of the time you can get a new newsletter code for another $50 off. Then there is whatever additional gifts you get at the time of purchase.
