      It’s $49 mate. At $7 a pack just for the packs it’s well worth it in my opinion. My kids generally destroy it so not really bothered by the pulls. It did make my kids say when I brought it home tonight and in my opinion the happy factor for them worth well more tian $49….

          Sorry but this is just plain wrong.
          I play with my son often, build decks (create new rules for the types of decks allowed) and battle it out. Plenty of decision making, risks/rewards, etc.
          It's actually a brilliant game for any age.

          Only comment would be, the game certainly gets better the more variety of cards you have.

            Does anyone play them or is there a bias because everyone thinks Pokemon is the hip thing to select.

            If there was a game where all the pokemons were replaced with say NSW Parliamentarians would you play it, same rules just different characters ?

It started as a Nintendo video game and branched out from there to TCG, manga, anime, movies, toys etc. Some people buy to play, some people buy to just collect for the artwork, some but to sell rare cards. It's got nothing to do with fitting in or peer pressure.
              Who in their right mind would play if it was parliamentarians?? How does that interest anyone?

              But yes - all of the trading card games are much more fun if more people have them. Being the 'hip thing to select' is actually the sole purpose of any of these games and makes them more fun.

              So, for example, if everyone in the world (note, 'world') collected cards with NSW politicians that could summon magical fire storms and black holes to kill other NSW politicians (bearing in mind this is the kind of stuff 10 year olds want in a game) then sure, it might get off the ground…

              As it turns out, kids are much more interested in small cartoon animals that
              breathe fire.

                            Pokemon is a very simple game, your moves are limited to what you are given, the choices are v basic. Thats how it was designed. Thats very different from chess or go where the possibilities are boundless mosts of the time.

                            In other words you dont have to be that smart to "play" pokemon, just like you dont have to be that smart to "play" O and Xs.

                            Its not a game of real skill, its just a con to sell more cards.

    Anyone else not get theirs?

    I bought it. I don't live close to Big W, so I added another item to the order, too.

    Purchase went through, organised pick-up for today.

    But when I went to collect today, they said "Sorry, we ran out of that Pokeman card thing."

    Why tell me there was stock and let me buy it then!?

    Is it too much to ask, Big W, that if you don't have an item, you don't try to sell it to people?

    Complete waste of time. I'm not going to be ordering anything from Big W pickup again. Total incompetence.

        I got an SMS saying it was ready, went to pick up, and they said "here's the other thing you ordered, but not the Pokemon advent calendar".

        So they had originally sold the Pokemon advent calendar to me, days earlier, despite having no stock. Complete waste of time.

        (Looking at my emails I can see one that says "some of your order got cancelled" so my surprise is partly my fault, I should have religiously checked my emails instead of going by the SMS they sent me… but my surprise is not the issue: why sell things you don't have in the first place? Big W is not some small-time struggling outfit. Is it so hard to only sell what you actually have stock of?)

            Some people getting lucky doesn't change that. Negs are an important warning to potential buyers that not everything about a deal is perfect. That's the point.

              there was stock. they have physical stores so if you order something at 10:00am and someone walks into the store at 10:01am and buys it unfortunately your order will not get filled.
              i just said they have (and have had for a while) a much better system (not 100% perfect ie my delivery order was cancelled for this) now as compared to the likes of Kmart which is absolutely terrible.
