Cricut Clearance (e.g. Cricut Premium Vinyl Sampler 12x12 (12 Pack) $14.50) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

JBHiFi's Cricut range

Looks like JBHiFi is clearing just about all of their Cricut range. I just bought a Cricut Easypress so I have had a tiny look at some of the consumables and they aren't cheap. Looks like their range of consumables is roughly 50% off but I'm not sure how much and how often this stuff gets discounted.

Edit: Just a clarification regarding the 50% discount.

For someone new to this stuff, do you guys recommend anything? Are these prices actually really cheap. Hard to know without any price history.

    • Check the usual suspects, Aliexpress, eBay, Amazon. You should be able to find plenty of 3rd party stuff that works just as well as Cricut's overpriced stuff.

(Disclaimer, I don't have an Easypress, or Cricut for that matter so I may have no idea what I'm talking about :) I do have a different brand cutter though)

      • What brand is your cutter?

        • It's an old Zing

      • Thanks, I'll look into it all. I actually don't have a cutter, just the press for now. In the end I'll probably wait to see if Costco do some sort of bundle. Their warranty gives me a bit more piece of mind.

This doesn't look like a clearance at all. The machines are still the same price as other places and if youre new to this you wouldnt want a maker anyway. The vinyl they have is overpriced, I get mine from Vinylworld and you can get a roll of far higher quality vinyl for 3-5 dollars a roll there.

      • You might be saying the vinyl is overpriced, but it's still cheaper than anywhere else that I can see. I'm just comparing the consumables prices like for like with other stores.

        • I did say in my comment that I get mine from Vinylworld. Like for like, a roll of Metamark M7 is $4.50 and superior quality to the $7 clearance roll of permanent vinyl from JB.

    Yep…

My wife got one of these Cricut things, and it seems she's always telling me about all these clearance supplies for it from every which shop under the sun. I'm starting to think the clearance price is the real price. We've now got half a room full of clearance 'accessories and consumables'…

    • Yep. The rrp is crazy and at half price they are still pretty expensive compared to 3rd party stuff.

Personally I wouldn't touch a Cricut machine given you are forced to register and activate online and then they have the ability to brick that machine when they deem fit (warranty claims, but for a while their customer support staff were telling people that if they sold the machine, it would be deactivated and unusable when the next person tried to register it)

  • Quick question, can you just get these sheets, print with a normal printer and iron onto tshirt or do you need their printer etc? Thanks

The Cricut is a cutting machine so for tshirts you're generally cutting Heat Transfer Vinyl, which is then ironed on. This is different than Heat Transfer Paper, which is generally printed on a Heat Transfer Printer (or sometimes inkjet/laser printer for some varieties of heat transfer paper).
