make sure these refurbed ear pad foams are given a thorough shampoo and rinsed, crawlies could be hiding from the last person whon used it.

good call, dont forget to bring your own cutlery to a restaurant too

      • You laugh and all but I bring my own food to the restaurant.

        • Use restaurant cutlery and plates to eat your own food?

    • You have crawlies in your headphones? I have some bad news for you…

  • Thanks op! Got a black pair for my missus for her birthday.

    • -4

Yeah, they say once you go black, you cant go back.

  • they are great for noise cancelling but the sound quality is far from stellar, even using LDAC

  • Recently bought new Bose QC SE @ 210, battery life and comfort is really good but I feel music is average and attending calls outside/public transport is pathetic… Anyone can recommend this one for the -ve points I mentioned???

I've had this Sony. Good sound quality. Calls were fine in a quiet office.

I found I got too hot in the Xm4s. That might be just a me problem.

The QCS for 209 was so tempting though !

I haven't found the calls any good with the XM4s either to be honest. It's hopeless at things like MS teams/zoom calls and phone calls I've found it only really works alright if you're in a quiet area, windy areas I've heard from the people on the other end makes it really hard to hear me vs just holding the phone and talking. Still don't tend to use it for that as the noise isolation tends to make me unaware of how loud O am talking.

Music is okay. Not sure what to compare with. It's a bit base heavy imo, but not in a bad way. I definitely don't think it stacks up to proper studio headphones in a similar price range though.

  • White OOS already sadly

  • is it too hot for summer ?

    • +2

Not if you use it while swimming

  • are these second hand?

    • No, they are refurbished.

        @mozbargainT

        Thanks for the extra link.

I go straight to the site as soon as the push notification hit my phone and it looks liked bother Silver/White and Black were already ZERO. That was at least ten minutes after the first post hit.

I’m missing the good deals because the push notification server is too slow! LOL.

        • When I bought, 55 of Black were sold ( it looks like they only had 71 in total), few people got it. May be next time it's even a bit better deal.

          Its feels like a regular.

The XM4 have leather ear pads iirc, please correct me, they have LDAC, but removed the apt X LL and apt X HD that was on the XM3.

The case on the XM4 I recall being better or smaller. It’s been a while, but I’m sure I look up a pic.

I’m very tempted. , but I’m waiting for the XM6 if one ever comes with a longer battery life. XM5 can be a bit short but who doesn’t keep at least a 10,000mAh battery pack handy, especially these days with USB-C

    • Hopefully they reintroduce the collapsible design, the same as the XM3/4. The XM5 case is just so large and takes up unnecessary space in my bag.

      • Yep, xm5 is a design fail, I love how my xm4s fold up into the case.

        • I agree. XM5's lower clamping force from "stylish" headband, shallower and firmer earpads (to prevent the ears from pressing against the mesh inside) means less reliable seal (passive noise isolation) for many users. you can read about it online lots of feedback saying XM4 achieves a better more reliable seal thanks to slightly stronger clamping force and deeper softer earpads.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: I'd say the lower clamping force is actually a good thing about the XM5. I had an XM3 and the clamping force was just too much, XM5 is a much more comfortable fit. This could also just be to the lower weight but the clamping force contributes much more tbh.

Although the XM3 has better noise isolation because of this, I have had great noise cancelling on my XM5 - daily use on trains I can't hear anything with music playing it's fantastic.

  • Ozbargained!

  • Since these are refurb and used i believe? How safe are they, as in getting diseases etc ?

    • +7

Bit dramatic mate 🤣 they're fully cleaned, tested etc.

      Username fits.

  • Bought my xm4 for 280 refurb a few weeks ago, I felt it was brand new, pristine condition.

    • Good to know if we see them come up again, but I’m finding that the primo stuff is already gone by the time the push notification hits my phone even if I’m holding it. I wonder if there is a faster server the devs who write this app can use. I don’t believe push notifications are free, but I know there are quite a few companies offering the service.

I would guess that tte devs if the iPhone app from Delvu Media Pty Ltd must be getting paid some how since there seem to be commercial arrangements going on in terms of Sellers of products are posting stuff as well as people stumbling onto bargains.

Anyway no need to go into that just workout how I can get my push notification sooner, no doubt your UUID is probably in some huge db somewhere.

Had a terrible experience with Seconds (different from 'refurbished' but same store) from Sony aus ebay. One pair came fine, almost seemed just like an open box with no sign of usage or at least a very good refurbish process. The other had been clearly used with the last owners hair in the headphone case and had a bad smell to it. Contacted directly to get a return for replacement where the store said they would send a brand new replacement unit. A week later it came and its another seconds copy, with rips in the earcups and a very bad sweat smell from the last owner. I did end up getting a refund but it doesn't help that they don't use auspost returns to facilitate returns - they use TNT express where they come to the delivery address of your original order (can't be changed) and is only available during working hours on business days. Would not order a seconds product from this store again.

    • my experience was different (eBay Plus here). Seconds product started playing up after 1 month of use. I just initiated a return from eBay, eBay gave me a free label (was AusPost), I posted it, once it showed as "delivered" on AusPost tracking, I got my money back, zero interaction and no questions asked.

    • Dealing with Sony's customer service for my faulty "seconds' soundbar literally took TWO YEARS of PERSISTENT emails/calls before I finally ever had my issue resolved.

      Never, ever again.

I am reading similar comments in past deals. together with "they are tested and cleaned with pads replaced" comments. I guess since these sell out so quickly they just don't bother doing anything to them anymore and what you get is exactly whatever previous customer returned.
some boxes have barely used ones in them, while others have units which are in the terrible state the last customer left them in.

  • How do these compare to the Bose QuietComfort SE?

    • The Bose QC SEs are identical to the Bose QC45s, which there's plenty of comparisons online on Reddit/YT. Each have their advantages and disadvantages

  • Mine looked brand new no problems so far

  • These are back in stock along with the black version, just ordered
