  • Making the Sony refurbish/seconds seems tempting if 20% off, but then again, they have a pretty bad feedback.

    • +3

The risk of refurb. My XM4s have been great for the last 2 years. My friend had to return his for rattling.

      • Yeah indeed, apparently their Ebay team is a pain to deal with, I was checking out the 55" X90L

        • 55" A80L for me.

$200 off at current $2149 now, or pray for no jack.

          • @pax: Also tempting, but only damaged box right? usually marked as refurbished?

            • +1

@Tbargain12: Box damaged, yes and marked as refurbished, yes.

              • @pax: My bad on this one.

Seconds are not part of this promotion, but there is a $200 discount for TSS150X7Q5MB4X7M code.
Refurb is part of this promotion.

                • @pax: Seems like this works for REFRB22 seconds, in some cases, but looking at box damaged for A80L seems like no luck? Haven't tried your code yet though price isn't quite there anyway though.

                  • +1

@Tbargain12: yes… see my comment above on making the mistake on Seconds.

I ended up buying the box damaged with TSS150X7Q5MB4X7M. Even 20% discount on current retail "new" prices I am still ahead, and given there wasn't any significant discount during BF + CM sales, I'm hoping I made the right choice.

                    • @pax: Thanks I wonder if that's a unique code to you or something, I tried that code it won't work for me for the box damaged.

        • Did anyone buy a TV from Sony, I on the first day of this deal, apparently the TV should arrive tomorrow but the tracking number has a prefix of PRE then the number, which doesn't actually seem to work or even advise that the TV is sent.

          • @Rec0nz: uh oh… not the sony Ebay horror with bad delivery service that I read about…

          • @Rec0nz: Expect a phone call from their delivery company (DHL for me in Syd) to organise delivery. The number for me ended 9607, and I received the phone call on Wed after ordering on the first day too.

            Mine is being delivered today.

            • +1

@pax: Enjoy the A80L! Let us know how it is!

  • Hrm, any way to work out if an item might be available for this before it goes live?

Looking at something with the HGTNOV code currently for $60 off… which I assume will end before this code goes live 🤔

Checking out a listing I had in mind, realised it can still use the Black friday coupon (same 300$ discount). But its going to get pushed into the low quantity thread so might as well put it here for more traction:

Asus ROG STRIX G15 15.6 QHD 165hz 100% p3, R9 5900HX, 16GB, 512GB, RX6800M 12GB for 1599$. It is refurbished, but is an official refurb (like dell outlets) with official warranty baked in.

When properly setted up, with some 2RX8 ram 32gb for 98$ (I used the same), and a external monitor to bypass igpu (note, use a type c to displayport cable, not HDMI to HDMI), you get performance rivalling just tiny bit below a mobile 3080 for much less.

Even if you don't get any of the aforementioned upgrades, Jarrod revisited the 6800M this year and even at stock it's still putting up a good fight against the 4070 (even with the latter paired up with better cpu and ddr5 ram and persumbly a mux switch or adv. optimus).

    • +2

GPU prices have gone up, but not the performance!

      • +2

Situational performance has; but that sort of thing doesnt justify the price.

    • My understanding is that 1Rx8 and 2Rx8 memory doesn't have any performance difference. As long as it's not 1Rx16, you should be fine

      • Oh is it haha. I never quite looked into the details but I always remembered it as the 16gb sticks with 2xr8 as being the best. Maybe its a diminishing return thing?

    • Yeah refurbished Asus stuff is quite good. I have had good experience with the official one

  • What portable devices are worth buying ?

    • steam decks?

      • Since the new oled version is out, the OG needs to be very cheap.

        • +3

You’re assuming the OLED is available at a reasonable price though for that to happen

          • +2

@Commodore64: Give it six months to a year b4 the OLED prices are reasonable. Took about that long for the OG deck.

  • Hope Sony restock the xm4s

  • +1

Wonder if iPhone 13 128gb would come down to an actual decent price

    • thinking of similar iphone for the folks. Greengadgets the best?

      • I ended up buying a new iPhone 13 128gb for $949 through Telstra, new warranty and new battery

  • Any decent laptop deals?

  • Conspicously poor selection this time around: I found a grand total of 8 ThinkPads and 25 Latitudes. Good thing I don't need another right now.

Refurb a.k.a. give it a lil bit of spit polish and dust off the ear wax
