Ozito PXC 18V Lawn Edger Skin Only $148 (Was $179) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

870

Been waiting for this to come on special for a while and noticed today it has dropped so I finally purchased. Hope it goes ok!
Update - Tested this with a 2.5 Ah battery today and it went really well. I had sparks flying everywhere but the blade still seems like it would last ages.

        • Nah it's the same reason people pay 20k more for 'performance' car that will go to 0-100 in 3.8seconds vs 0-100 in 6 seconds.

Pointless for 99.9% of cases unless you get paid to race on the track. Even then it will take you years to recoup the cost.

    • What about the Ozito 36V?

And this doesn't take into account the price. Do you really need to drive a Ferrari for 5 minutes to pick up bread and milk from the local shops?

I have one, good easy to use ,4ah battery .

    Only use Ozito.

Not sure why the Ryobi fan boys chime in.

Conversation for another day, happy with Ozito.

Sad though because they paid more for less warranty.

  • Maybe for next time

  • So ive used a ferrex petrol 5 in 1 with an edger attachment, which was powerful but so heavy and difficult to use.

I recently bought 60V Greenworks unit, which is amazing. Light and powerful and quiet. Absolute dream.

The old man bought the Ozito on my recommendation, and I have to say, its far closer to Greenworks than it has any right to be. Also, it spins the opposite way, so it launches the debris away from you, which is a nice bonus.

As others have said, the Ozito isnt a powerhouse, so the first run of digging out the channel will be a little painful. But its so light and easy to use, that once youve established the edge, you will maintain it easily. Which is the main thing

    • Does the green works have a mud flap to prevent the soil from getting in your boots??

      • It does, but i shredded it to bits first use because i sometimes pull the edger back towards me to clean the trench and the flap fell into the blade.

  • While edger does a clean straight cut, it leaves too big a gap. Whipper snipper does much tighter edges, but requires more effort.

    • Perfect!! I love a big gap:)…. Got one & a battery kit! Thanks OP!!

      • Why? It means more bare dirt for the weeds to sprout.

        • Haha that's not the big gap I was referring to… Cmon, get with the program! 😉

    • If I had a normal front yard then yeah I’d consider this but on a corner block so will be annoying using extension cord 😅

    • is the corded one more powerful or is only difference just cord v cordless?

  • Thanks, been looking and after seeing this in an email alert, bought this afternoon.

  • Yeah I dont understand the negativity, I have used for a good 3 years along with my electric mower and blower to finish the job, so easy and I find this is quite powerful, more than enough to do any lawn edging I could imagine. If thinking about getting dont hesitate.

  • Does anyone have recommendations for Ozito whipper snipper? I see many options in website.

I used friend of mine’s that had plastic blades. Absolute bs. Use the one that feeds cord.

The plastic blade would heat up and snaps off or deforms very easily.

      • Seconded.
I have the 2x18V and even that is not great. However, it can be greatly improved by simply changing out the rubbish dried out lines it comes with. I really regretted not doing it earlier as I suffered for almost 2 yrs with the original lines. Just changed to Diamond Edge 2.0mm lines and it now cuts fast, does not require bumping as much (line not wearing as quickly) and bumping works flawlessly as the line is still soft and flexible!
Same goes for the reciprocating pruning saw. Get rid of the rubbish Ozito blade and get a Diablo!

I have one with plastic blades. It's ok for grass but the blade gets damaged easily if you hit it against stone walls etc.

It's funny that 'Shaun' and 'John' both have the same photo on their review!

  • I have 2 1.5 amp 18v batteries. Will these work or should i get a 2.5 or higher amp for this?

    • Get the 2.5Ah battery from the recent (still going) deal. $25 with charger, which is fantastic value.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/809478

The 1.5Ah will work, but will lack power.

      The 1.5Ah is rated for ~350W. As a comparison, the 2Ah does 450W, the 2.5Ah can output 720W. The 4Ah does 900W.

The 2.5Ah should have no issues giving the edger full power and will give enough run time to do it on one charge, unless the ground is very muddy or the grass is very thick or has a lot of runners. The 4Ah won't make much difference in power - just increase runtime, which is mostly not needed.

      • I have a dual charger already for the red power x change batteries, do you still think the batery and charger is good value to have another charger?

        • Yep. The 2.5Ah + charger for $25 is a limited run Bunnings "black" version they use for price matching Aldi and other deals.

The normal price 2.5Ah and charger is $69. You can't get the 2.5Ah by itself, but the 2Ah by itself is $40.

There are sometimes deal on the 4Ah batteries too. There was a recent 2x 4Ah for $69, but stock is almost completely gone.

Doing a search for Ozito PXC battery on Bunnings, the other cheaper than usual deals are 2x 4Ah + charger for $99, or single 4Ah for $48.

The 2.5Ah + charger deal gives more capacity for your dollar, but spread over more batteries.

  • Just checked Pricehipster, cannot believed they raised the price from 159 to 199 in 2022 while most Ozito power tool had huge discount to competing with Aldi tools.

  • got one! Thanks OP!

  • Resisted for one week.

  • Missed it, price went back up.

  • its showing as 179
