This price has been like what, 2 years now? Not having a go at OP but Dell, don't know why they still have not reduced the price beyond $279 yet.

There's one on Dell outlet for $226 if you don't care about warranty.

For the buyer's sake, hope it isn't my stuck pixel one :D

      • oh, I have a dead pixel too. How could you convince them to replace? I thought a dead pixel is not covered by warranty (?)

        • I called it a 'stuck pixel' for brevity - was actually more a cluster of 'dull' pixels appearing as a full-stop sized grey dot, with 7 subpixels affected, give or take depending how closely you scrutinised it. When I told the rep I had a photo (whole screen with dot visible), she wanted me to e-mail her a copy, and called back after receiving it to advise they'd do a replacement.

        • For UltraSharp monitors, Dell will replace if 1 or more Bright, or 6 or more Dark sub-pixels…

        • Yeah, that's what I've seen. I've got 1 (2?) black dots - in the exact middle of the screen. Drives me nuts… :)

    • I saw this too (yesterday). The item is listed as new.

It's a good monitor (using one now) but I'm going to have to keep negging this to make a point. I have no idea why this particular deal keeps getting the upvotes it does; this is STANDARD pricing, it's available EVERY DAY by calling the sales reps.

We could argue about the semantics of a "good deal" forever, or we could just stop purchasing at 279 and hope that a real bargain comes along.

Not a stab at you OP, but I'm getting tired of seeing the same crappy dell posts over and over.

Ah dang, didn't realise it was always at this price. I probably should have checked and read some other similar posts/deals.. I was actually checking for a 27" monitor and happened to stumble on this on the Dell website; thought it was special… =(

      • Bought a U2711 listed as refurb for $484 10 days back, is brand spanking no pixel probs.

The outlet refreshes early Thursday our time. Keep hunting!

        • Does it only get updated for all items once a week (Thursday morning), or only certain categories? I remember it used to get updated Tuesdays for laptops, but that was many years ago.

Not your fault; I blame dell for the crappy advertised "specials".

The dell 27" ultrasharps are good monitors, but a little expensive. Try the outlet, as suggested by goamax (if you're not concerned with warranty) or have a look at the korean 27" IPS panels. They are about 300$, and significantly better than anything else in that price range (same panel as apple 27" cinema display). Catch is, about 33% of them have 3+ dead pixels, and a not too great backlight. But at 2560x1440, you probably won't notice.
