Cheapest price according to the camels. Looks like they are clearing this as this is the old model. The new model is selling for $853.21. I don't know much about binoculars other than which end you look through but that price is looking pretty good.

They do talk about the differences between the versions.

Our Verdict

The Steiner Predator 8x42 offers decent all-around performance, but there are better binoculars available in the same price range you can see in our Best Binoculars review. The Predator is able to provide fairly bright and clear images, but comparable clarity and brightness is offered by others that cost much less. If you already have a pair of these binoculars we see no reason to upgrade, but if you're getting a new pair, there are some better bins out there.

Hope some people got some. I didn't see any stock indication so thought it was safe to post as a regular post.

I got a pair at the indicated price, but I’d be absolutely fascinated to know how Amazon works their algorithms. Do you think someone purchased one from an overseas Amazon warehouse, returned it due to change of mind or whatever and Amazon stuck with one of these things in Aus then clear it to get it out of the local warehouse? I suppose it makes sense on many of these individual items being marked down so crazily

I'm really wondering what's going on over there at Amazon lately. The clearance prices have been crazy.

What'd you get tonight lad? 😅

        • I bought that Korg Digital Piano. Hoping that will help my wife get over some of the other stuff I've bought.

    • how do you find these deals? is there a clearance page for everything amazon sells?

      • +1

Sometimes Amazon group a whole heap of stuff into a prime exclusive feature page in their Today's deals. I can't see one at the moment. They finished one up last night.

Other deals I've just looked through the camels. Everything that was really cheap has gone I think.

Tried to get 1 for absolutely no reason. Went to read some reviews and cart went back up to 750.14.. not sure if its a bad thing

I thought of looking at reviews but knew if I snoozed I’d lose. Having said that I already know Steiner make good kit so knew it was worth jumping straight in

One thing about Amazon, it's usually very easy to cancel an order. If it's something that may go fast it's probably a good idea to just buy it then do the research later.

Edit: Just don't take too long deciding.

What is the trick to finding these one off deals?

    • +3

For all of the deals I have posted over the last little bit I have just found them looking through the popular tab of the camels. I have posted quite a few really massive discounts in the forums (if you haven't visited there).

      • Thanks. But what is the camels?

At the bottom of every Amazon order there is a link to "Price History at CamelCamelCamel". There is one in this post if you look above.

CamelCamelCamel (Camels) is just a site that tracks price history at Amazon.

  • Dang, nice find. Would have actually ordered something for a change.

  • The one thing that makes price go whoosh is ED (extra-low dispersion) glass. It either there or not. Check Nikon Monarch M7 8 X 42. It has ED:
"Employing extra-low dispersion (ED) glass …

This one does not have ED.
