Spend $100 Each Week at Woolworths from October 22nd -Nov 11th, Receive a $20 Woolworths Gift Card

1250

To get the $20 Woolworths gift card you need to swipe your card every time you shop and spend $100 per week for three weeks:
Week 1: 22nd October to 28th October
Week 2: 29th October to 4th November
Week 3: 5th November to 11th November.

You don't have to make up the $100 in one transaction but each week must total $100 spend. Excludes Woolworths Liquor, smoking/tobacco products, WISH gift cards and selected services. Also people in Tasmania are excluded for some reason. It's best to spend on Woolworths Specials(e.g. Up N Go $2.12, Phone recharges) and avoid buying items that are more expensive in supermarkets (meat, veggies, fruit, etc.).

You'll receive your $20 Woolworths Gift Card in the mail by Friday 7th December.

Combine with the 5% cashback from ING Direct or 5% off gift cards, plus get FF points.

It's not a huge bargain but it takes seconds to sign up. So if you shop at Woolworths anyway, then you may as well try for the $20 gift card.

Also people in Tasmania are excluded for some reason.

They all share the same family Rewards card…

Awww my local Woolworths (Albury NSW) is not PayWave equipped :( So I cannot use that ING Direct 5% back :(

    • +3

      time to move :)

    • Based on a fairly quick look it would appear to me that the proposed strategies to save the extra 5% (e.g. ING, Entertainment Book, RACQ and gift cards) would be relevant to people who are NOT buying via a credit-card with a 'payment-up-to-55-days-later' strategy. Switching from this to any of these other strategies probably means payment much earlier - if not actually paying "in advance".

Thus a calculation of the relative savings of any of these 'pay-before-you-purchase' methods would need to take into account not only the added inconvenience but also the added cost of paying days or weeks PRIOR to purchase compared to a credit-card's payment days or weeks AFTER purchase.

Is this mean we have to spend $300 in total to get $20 gift card?
Or 3x$20 gift cards (one for each week)?

    • +4

      Exactly as the title reads:

Spend $100 each week at Woolworths from October 22nd -Nov 11th, receive a $20 Woolworths gift card

So spend $300 over a course of 3 weeks, then receive 1 x $20 gift card.

      • -1

Title should read spend $300 over 3 weeks to get $20.

        • +9

Well, not really. If you only spend $50 the first week and $250 over the next 2 weeks, you won't get the gift card. It's $100 each week. That's also how Woolworths phrased it on it's page.

        • +2

          $100 pw to get < 6.6% returned/recyclable through Woolworths(*).

realise "<" as a logical operator: were a family to spend e.g. 310- the percentage (real return) regresses to 6.4% and so on, the larger that spend($).

No doubt Woolworths would have it as "the gift card from them", though actually in effect, it is that the generous shopper selected W'worths.

  • +3

go entertainment book buy $300 gift card for further 5% off then.

    • But then you'd have to use it to pay for 1 order.

The deal seems to say you have to spend it over 3 months ($100 / mon)

Still, as OP suggested, you can boost the savings by buying (say 3x $100) gift cards using ING Direct's "Wave & Save" debit card. :-)

PS Are Woolies' gift cards -only- available via voucher in Entertainment Book?!?

      • You have to order it online now, you can't buy the gift card in store.

  • +7

I just hate woolworths for their gross overpricing and their pathetic attempts to show how generous they are with "specials".

    • +11

Who negged his comment? I think it is perfectly valid. Also the 'fresh' fruit & veg is terrible compared to a local grocer.

      • +5

Agreed. I advoid supermarket chains as often as i can.

      • +9

Also the 'fresh' fruit & veg is terrible compared to a local grocer

They should be renamed to the 'mouldy' fruit people… Although Coles isn't any better…

        • Hey, don't drag Coles into this. I'm a Coles guy.

        • Unfortunately our local grocers supply similar crap to Woolies and Coles. Incidentally does anybody else think that currently bananas are in fact genetically modified turnips (at least here on the Gold Coast)?

    • +12

Yet when I look at your submissions, I find numerous posts for Woolworths, Big W (Woolworths), and BWS (Woolworths).

      • lol…

      • -5

        true.

however I'm pointing out bargains rather then the store.

        numerous?! bws 2, big w 2. woolworths 0.

        • +9

          Uh…

$1 Vegetable Seedlings Margate Qld Woolworths

Yates Seed Packs - 99cents Clearance Woolworths Blue Water Square Redcliffe QLD

There's also a Dick Smith deal. I'm not going to bother looking through it all though since my point has been made.

        • +2

Yeah well when you have the market share of supermarkets, alcohol, hardware stores, petrol stations, electronics, etc etc most of the "deals" do come from them because there isn't anyone else in the market to compete, and if they do compete they are "price matched/beat."

        • +2

Exactly, I'm sure they sell stuff that you can consider to be a rip off. Just don't buy it lol. Not that hard.

You can just stick with the stuff that you think are bargains.

      • +1

Probably because he lists for certain products that are at a good price. General shopping at chains can be expensive.

    • -8

I'm going to neg this as well. Just another pathetic big pokie machine owning organisation making Australians jump through hoops for a few $. Pointless really.

      • -1

I will neg down coles next for their down down down ads. I think OB wants your opinion on a specific deal.

  • +5

You can also get 5% off gift cards here. Bought some last month.

    • I don't like Woolworths but a great deal nonetheless…, thx Neil !

    • Just put in an order for a gift card, but I am a NRMA member-not RACQ. What is the latest info on the likelihood my order will be successful? Anyone know?

  • +3

This is a good deal. A further 6.7% off your shopping for 3 weeks if you spend $300 over the 3 weeks. For anyone with a family, I don't think this will be a problem.

Nobody's asking you to go nuts, if you don't buy that many groceries normally then just don't do it.

  • Grrr it starts the day after the fuel offer finishes.. I'd prefer this deal again rather than stretching it out like this but better than nothing if you were gonna spend anyway..

  • +1

you can buy bus tickets from the woolworths :D

    • they're probably one of the "excluded services"

      • i wonder what services will be excluded??

    • Forgot about that, but that is a good idea!

    • Good one.

  • not sure how this works, do you have to register your wollies card?

      • Go to the link,
      • Enter your Everyday Rewards Card number
      • Enter your email address registered to the card

      That's it.

  • +1

Wool's is the telstra of supermarket chains. The more you shop from them, the more value will slide in general I suppose anyway.

May as well do more groceries with (Coles, or) rather Aldi, as at least they would keep their pricing plain.

    • +12
       <philisophical raptor>

if woolies is the tel$tra of supermarket chains, does that make coles optus ( reliable and competitive) and aldi vodafone( cheap but not available everywhere).

       </philisophical raptor>

  • +3

    Nice deal but
IMO Aldi and Coscto much better for dome people

    • Some people like it too.. :-)

    • +1

Aldi and Costco are great, but there are plenty of things you can't find at Aldi, and Costco only has three locations in Australia.

  • +1

Apart from town hall.. Which Sydney stores sell my bus/multi etc?

    Thx

    • I saw a sign at a register in a Blacktown store. I think they all must sell them now.

    • The one at MetCentre Wynyard sells them too

  • A thoughtfully laid out post and links to ING/Wish to get another 5% off. Nicely done.

  • -2

$20 is ALOT Of money, every cent counts, u will never find it better than this deal, welcome to oz buddy.

  • +1

In that case, the far more expedient method to collect '$20' would be to peruse those weekly discounts. e.g. the other day I pocket $9.oo (100% ROI !) from sourced pepsi cola cube x coles alone. i.e. of course Real $$ the non expiring kind… while the Wools has no item to cost match. [Multiply x3 for 3 weeks.]

  • Mine says I only have to spend 50 a week. Won't make me change my buying habits, but hopefully I'll get it anyway…

  • -6

As someone who lives in Tasmania I say FU Woolworths. I'll go to Coles and get my 15 cent petrol discount.

    • +2

It's not really worth negging the deal though?

      • -2

        Of course it is!

Besides freedom to vote as you choose, it's unfair to a group of Australians who have higher home heating costs than most Aussies (I'd guess).

Woolies can well -afford- to do the right thing & -include- Tassie residents in this offer.

        • Yeah, but they don't have everyday rewards in tassie…

          http://www.everydayrewardsblog.com.au/faqs/why-don%E2%80%99t…

Why don’t you have Everyday Rewards in Tasmania?
It’s because we have an alternative loyalty program in Tasmania called The Frequent Shopper Club. We regularly review our programs and keep an eye on the feedback for the Frequent Shopper Club and the Everyday Rewards program.

  • +2

    15c fuel discount starts today?

    • +1

Yes, at least in Victoria it does.

      • +1

Starts today in WA as well

    • +1

what is this 15c fuel discount you guys talking about?>

      • +1

Spend $100 dollars or more between now and Oct 21 you get 15cents a litre off fuel

        • +1

that woolies tho not coles right?

  • Woolworths Tasmania has its own ongoing 'frequent shopper card' which provides effectively 1% cash back, I think claimed every $1000? Its being going on for years and was an initiative of Grant O'Brien, a Tasmanian who is now Woolworths CEO

    • Sucked in mainlanders :-)

      • -2

Still doesn't change the fact Tasmania contributes very little to the Australian economy :D

  • Soo, can I use a 3x$100 gift cards to buy 3x$100 gift cards and get a $20 bucks one?

    • +3

Excludes Woolworths Liquor, smoking/tobacco products, WISH gift cards and selected services.

You can probably buy other gift cards like Rebel Sport/Best Restaurants or something.

      • Hm… someone make sure to check this once the deal is active.

What other gift cards do Woolworths sell?

        • Wish that they sell Coles gift card :)
There's no woolworths in my area

      • So, has anyone figured out whether buying other gift cards (not Woolworths ones) counts towards the $100?

  • Woolworths should bring back bonus point offers!

  • So ummm, I can buy bus tickets to meet the spend right?
Couldn't find an exclusion in the T&Cs

  • Would online shopping count? I am going to stock up soy milks next week. That' s going to be heavy.

    • Yep.

Spend $100 or more at a participating Woolworths supermarket or Woolworths Online

  • Can I pay for all my shopping with gift cards or does it have to be cash to qualify for the $20 in December?? I have about $120 of WISH cards to use up.

    • Yep, when they say "excludes gift cards" 99.99% of the time they mean purchasing only, not redemption. I always pay by gift card and received the confirmation email for week 1.

  • Has anyone received their email to say they qualified for last weeks $100 spend?

    • Yep

Thank you for shopping with us last week.

You're right on track to receive your $20 Cash for Chrismas Gift Card in December. All that's left to do now is spend $100 per week at Woolworths for the next two weeks

Paid only 41c more than the minimum $100, happy with that.

  • Just been told I've been awarded a $20 Cash for Christmas Card as a way of saying thank you, valid till 31/12/2012. Is this different to this promotion?

  • Anyone received the card yet?

    • They started to be sent out on Friday 23/11. Call if you don't receive it by Friday 7/12.
(this is what I was told by the CSR)

    • Received in post today!

  • Hmmmm hopefully getting them yet to get this, i'd be pissed if i didnt spend enough to get them
