Google Pixel Buds Pro $179 (Was $299, Save $120) Delivered @ Google Store

920

Received a $31.80 store credit from asking if they sold a-series replacement cases a few weeks ago - Unfortunately/fortunately they don't.

Might be interesting to some people.

I accidentally had a replacement a-series in my cart and didn't pay attention before ordering, spoke to their text chat after cancelling to enquire if the credit would be returned and was given $45 additional store credit because of the 5 minute wait I had to endure so worth a shot at least asking them something if you're interested in anything in the Google store you might get lucky too!

When you start speaking, Conversation Detection pauses the music and your earbuds switch to Transparency mode

What if I start singing the song?

    • +14

      Your will never sing again.

      • Ok I thought you will say the buds will be exploding on my ear to unpleasant melodies

      • Not even to sing along to Last Christmas by WHAM! ?

    • +1

It stops the music. It's annoying.

      • -7

good stop singing with your shitty voices in public

    • +5

I've turned it off. It's easy just to pause the music myself. I can see the point in an office environment, but I'm not usually wearing these in office.

    • +4

Not worth it. The period of quietness and having to listen to others and your own thoughts is not what I bought these for.

      That setting stays off.

  • Same price as jbhifi I think

  • JB have them in stock same price. Grooving around with them now. Awesome deal!

  • +4

PSA: if you have just recently bought this at full price at Google store you can possibly double dip their price matching policy: one against JB (or other approved store) and one against their own store. But it'll be in form of Google store credit.

Did this with my P7Pro last year for around $1k worth of Google credit.

    • Can you please explain how and what do you mean by double dipping and how did you manage to get the $1k credit?

      • +1

Tbh the stars were lined up for me when I bought my P7P.

        1) Last year for black friday Google store had $400 store credit but still sold P7P with full price.

        2) With Google one subscription (https://one.google.com/about/plans) you can get 10% store credit back ($145).

Google has both price protection and price match policy: https://support.google.com/store/answer/9631873?hl=en. This post explains further: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/738690

        3) Price protection: If you bought an item from the Google Store that decreased in price within the standard return period, you may get a partial refund to match the lower price. Since I bought during black friday, the return policy ended in Jan 23 and during Christmas Google store had $250 discount on P7P.

        4) Price match: After you make your Google Store order, if you find a better price at a qualified retailer within the standard return period, you'll be refunded the difference. Right after my order I just price match with OW - another $250.

So in total I got back $400 + $145 + $250 + $250 = $1045 in store credit which funded my Pixel Watch, Buds Pro and Nest doorbell with a change since I did price match/protection for every single one of these purchases.

These are pretty fing good. Noise cancelling is amazing! Can't hear the wife or kids. Highly recommended!

      • +11

You're comparing the noise cancelling of over ear headphones to in ears.

      • +2

the noise cancelling is noticeable worse them my old QC35's

Maybe he hasn't used your old QC35s for comparison

      • I've had a pair of QC35's now for years. I love them, they're super comfy and you can replace the cups when they eventually get grubby.

That said, I work from home now and traveling to work with a bag doesn't happen. Earbuds are great for just chucking on and going for a walk up the road, slipping them into my pocket when I don't need them.

        Apples to oranges.

    • Noise cancelling is average at best. My $70 pair of Soundpeats T2, and my Sony WF-1000XM3 have better ANC.

However, as I have a Pixel phone, the Pixel buds Pro are tightly integrated into the ecosystem, providing a much, much better experience than either the T2 or XM3.

I'm just really salty I lost my charging case, and then Google refused to sell me a replacement charging case. Their response was buy another set champ.

Rocking a pair of XM3's now, and they are bulkier, the charging case is the size of Madagascar, and they do not have Bluetooth Multipoint. $100 and it will do for the next 12 months or so.

  • They are great buds (price too) but I've lost two pairs due to the case opening too easily for my level of care. 🤦‍♂️

      Thanks for the reminder.

  • +1

Can we price beat at OW?

    • Yeah if you go there now, show the JBHIFI has stock of same colour, they should price beat by 5%. I suspect they'll update their prices soon to match

    • I just did this - and agree with above. I expect they'll update their prices soon.

  • -1

Has anyone been able to find cases for these?

    • what do you mean? It comes in a case.

  • +1

What would be best, these or WF1000XM3S?

    • +2

As above, I had a pair of Pixel Buds Pro until I lost the charging case.

      In short, XM3's

      • have better ANC
      • have a significantly bulkier case
      • are slightly larger than the pixel buds pro
      • battery life is similar
      • sound quality is similar
      • google assistant is less slick
      • I find they stick in my ear a bit better.
      • have the ability to apply an EQ in the app

      The pixel buds pro

      • are better integrated into android, especially if you have a pixel device
      • have a significantly smaller case
      • are slightly smaller than the XM'3. I would struggle to pull them out of the case sometimes.
      • have average ANC
      • have the ability to find lost earbuds
      • have the ability to connect to 2 bluetooth devices at once, and they work seamlessly (much better than Bose's QC35ii's implementation)

If you have a pixel phone, and are in the market for earbuds, get these. They are good value to $170. I wouldn't pay $299, but considering my old pair of Soundpeats T2's cost $80, and the pair of XM3's cost me $100 (seconds), they are well priced.

      • -1

        The pixel buds pro

are better integrated into android, especially if you have a pixel device

except if you have a Samsung device.

        • If you have a Samsung device, get Galaxy Buds.

          • @ReqelinOz: I have a pair of galaxy buds that I am using with a Pixel 7 and I can't fault them (from an integration perspective).

Not sure how it is possible to be better integrated. They connect insanely fast - by the time I get them in my ears they are ready and all features / settings from the app work fine (and are mostly set and forget). Am I missing anything?

        • +1

what's the issue with Samsung devices?

      • Thanks for the detailed comparison. I purchased refurbished XM3's for my wife for Christmas, they were ~$100, from a deal recently. We both have Pixel 7 Pro's so this is quite attractive, if they are indeed as good. Thankfully, I'm within the return window so might buy these instead.

        • I bought the same XM3's off eBay when I lost my pixel buds case.

Unfortunately, I've worn my XM3's so I can't return them. Otherwise I would and I'd grab these.

    • Re Sony 1000XM3s just a warning that call quality is very bad in areas with background noise…

  • +1

Is this going to be better than the Bose QCII earbuds or the AirPods Gen 1? I find the QCII quote bulky….

  • FYI earliest deliver in Week 2 January

    • Same price at JB and Officeworks

      • yeah but I had $100 worth of credit and studentbeans made it $149.

        • Guess worth waiting in your case!

  • Received a $31.80 store credit from asking if they sold a-series replacement cases

I just did the same, didn't get any credit :(
    @Sherro

    • have you had any luck getting a replacement case? I lost the case on my Pixel Buds Pro, and they told me to pound sand.

      • They don't sell anymore

    • What's wrong with a-series cases that need a replacement?

    • Sorry man. I just had dumb luck twice in this case then.

I left my case on the train a few weeks ago and the agent I got was super apologetic about not selling replacement cases in Aus.

yeah need a code too please Cheers

I had these and thought i lost them so replaced them with Soundcore Space A40 when they were on sale for $90.
Now that ive found them, I barely use them as much as my A40s - 2x the battery life of the Pixel buds, better noise cancellation, better fit (at least for me) and the sound quality is on par.
Looking on the Soundcore site theyre actually $30 off now down to $100, would definitely recommend those over these in my opinion.

    • Wireless charging caase too?

      • No just USB C charging on mine, but the battery life has been exceptional I use mine daily with ANC on and have to charge the case maybe once a month.
I also can't speak to mic quality but I've used both earbuds for phone calls and haven't gotten any complaints from either A40s or pixel buds.

        • Hmm just checked Amazon photos it say wireless charging for the case

    • +1

This! I bought these about 6 months ago, but actually just stopped using them due to fit issues, and them turning off every time I went to fit them back in my ears. Looked at some reviews and bought the SoundCore Space ones and they're so much better for me. Glad I'm not the only person who has found this.
I still prefer my Jabra 85t overall for in-ears, but using the SoundCore ones daily now as my partner is using my old Jabras. The batteries last for ages, only charged them a couple of times in the few months I've had them.

  • -1

Can someone give me a code too please <3

  • Same as BF deal.

  • Anyone who has this and pixel phone, tried using the live translation feature? That is one of the only reason why I can think of buying this.

    • +1

I'm not 100%, but, I'd imagine the only thing that the buds were used for in the live translation feature is the microphone.

  • Do these have a function where they stop my toddler from stealing them putting the buds in his mouth and hiding the case under the fridge?

  • Got these at launch. Wanted to love them. They sounded good and the features and tech was awesome. But could not ever get a good fit in my ears. And by that I mean a consistent fit. I could put them in my ears in the morning and go for a walk and they'd be perfect. I'd take them out to have some food or do something. Go to put them back in and they'd just constantly fall out. It was beyond frustrating.

    • -2

Keep these for pre-food usage. Maybe your ears are bloating.

    • Can you replace the tips with memory foam tips?

    • CEX sells used goods, no? Pretty sure the B in the title indicates B-grade used condition

  • -1

is this the cheapest its ever been?

    • Depends on if you've got a student beans code which brings it to $149.10. It's been $149 at Telstra, $150 at Optus. $179 was Black Friday price.

My advice price match at JB (from OW $178), use Perks + GC. If you can use Perks + 10% off GC it's $151.20 which is basically the all time low.

      • -1

oh no i wouldnt sleep at night knowing that i paid 30 more for it. no deal

        • +1

Well it was a cheap, tight ass thing to say so figured you wouldn't have been able to. You're welcome.

          • -1

@pennypincher98: too much work for a 4th pair of bluetoooth headphones, i dont think i need em that much lol, its ozbargain and i have to stick by the code

            • @Roe Jogan: You can stick by the code and check yourself. Also buy once and buy well then there isn't a need to buy 4 Bluetooth headphones.

              • @pennypincher98: i got a Samsung one, an apple one, a bose one, all top tier mate, no cheap shit over here
the apple is a beats one for sports
the samsung/bose is for movies if one runs out of juice i pop in the other

                • @Roe Jogan: Lol idk what you're trying to prove here, Samsung and Apple are phone brands so why would you want another phone brand earbuds? They're literally made for their phones. The whole point of buying them is they mesh well with their brand, otherwise there's better value elsewhere.

There also should be a good enough battery life you don't need to switch mid-movie unless they're really old or you consistently forget to charge them.

                  • @pennypincher98: yeh i know that, i got an ipad and iphone, i also bought the samsungs coz they were on sale and they work with everything they are not only for samsung phones, so is the bose, that one works with everything too. also thats incorrect about movies, at one go they dont last more than 2-3 hours, sometimes i watch more content and they run out, i dont wana wait for them to charge so its nice to have a backup, the beats pros are perfect for physical activities they stay on with movement so thats why those were needed.

                    • @Roe Jogan:

thats incorrect about movies, at one go they dont last more than 2-3 hours

2 hours battery life is atrocious and I would expect anything over $30 to have more. Regardless, you do realise headphones only play audio right? Whether it's a movie, podcast, audiobook or song it's all audio.

Samsungs only have hi-res audio with Samsung devices.. otherwise you're overpaying for average quality. Then again though Beats Pro are an overhyped range of over-ear headphones that you use for physical activities so at least some consistency. (And if you mean powerbeats then LOL you could've got XM5s for that price which would've been good for basically everything).

Your story has more holes than Swiss cheese but okay you obviously need validation so congrats you could spend a week of your paycheck on headphones?

                      • -1

@pennypincher98: lmfao dude you got problems, how do i need validation? im simply sharing what i have because we were talking about headphones, you just got nothing better to do on a weekend than to sit her and argue to the sake of arguing.. find some happiness in your life you seem miserable

                        • -1

@Roe Jogan: Oh dear it looks like the guy who immediately started getting hostile when I answered this question has now got his pride hurt when I called him out.

You started trying to prove you're not a tight ass because you have multiple headphones, I gave you advice that 2 hours battery life isn't typical for any of those pairs.

Really it seems like you're the miserable one arguing for the sake of arguing, you picked this fight and been hostile the entire time. I hope your insecurity issues do get better, I really do.

                          • -1

@pennypincher98: if this is a competition on who is the bigger tightass, i think going by the names alone there is a clear winner.. relax im not trying to take your spotlight.

i started to let you know i had multiple headphones after you thought i dont have any and i wanted to clarify that i dont need to jump through hoops to get the 150 dollar price as i have 3 and i dont need it that bad.

dude the fact that you are still going makes me thing you got nothing better to and you are an insecure little boy on the inside lmao, i am only replying to show you how ridiculous you are penny pincher. have a great day.. i hope you use it to spend time with your loved ones instead of arguing on the internet, i wont put any more energy into this you don't seem to be worth my time, so good day

                            • -1

                              @Roe Jogan:

i wont put any more energy into this you don't seem to be worth my time

Lol you've already expended a lot of energy on that damn essay and downvoted me showing how insecure you are thinking that votes count for anything.

You've got a UFC name to pretend you're tough but all you do is cry on the internet. Whoever raised you now must be wondering what they did wrong for you to turn out this way, and you're turning that disappointment into anger instead of trying to better yourself. That's how you pushed everyone away in the first place.
