Wifi 7 just around the corner. Then 8. Not long after that 9. Don’t waste your money on these.

    • Yeah, just wait for WiFi X.

  • I have this, 3pack, over 100 clients, no issues at all,

    • 2.4 or 5 GHz clients?

      • Both, most of the smart lights are 2.4

        • You sound expert enough to ask - do you have your network split into three bands to have separated 2.4ghz for the devices that require it? We’ve got two different devices that allegedly required this.

          • +1

@ZJack: iot network gets 2.4ghz and it's own password

otherwise normal network gets 2.4+5ghz ad same name, and 6ghz separately

If I remember correctly the only difference between pro and non pro is the 2.5gb port on the pro. For those with access, the $503 for the triple pack (non-pro) version from good guys commercial is gonna be better value.

Can thoroughly recommend the non pro version.

    • I've been looking for at these forawhile especially the XE75 and the X80 on GCC .

How have you found the 6ghz backhaul are you using it as dedicated ?

Only reason I ask is that reviews suggest Tri-Band on 6ghz suggest maximum 7m LoS dedicated backhaul or 5m through walls from the router. Which seems kind of difficult to do if your router position is not in the middle of the house?

Daisy chain seems to lose 15% throughput.

But apparently wired backhaul is good.

      • For me, i have wired backhual, so 6g available for clients.

      • I grabbed a the twin pack from GGC for my parents. Its overkill for them, but it was only a small difference in price to a lower model at the time so I thought why not.

The first and second node are probably 8m away from each other via straight line and through multiple brick walls and the signal strength and speed was very good. I maxed out their nbn100 connection in every room. I didn't do lots of tests on file transfers because the speed was more than enough for them on the ones I did.

      • I’m using Ethernet backhaul. Connected my iPhone 15 pro to the 6ghz band and immediately had issues with HomeKit. Not sure why.

    • Yes the non pro version the only difference is the 2.5 go port. There is no provider in au offering more than 1 Gbps for home. So non pro should be fine.
I have got the pro version that was from Amazon au. Is Uk quite cheap but didn’t see that price for quite some time now.

  • This vs non-pro vs Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro Wi-Fi 6E Mesh Router System (3-Pack) $439.99?

I'm intending to buy within a week or two.

    • +1

If you have the money for it - this.
That said Google Nest at that price is better value.

      • Is the nest tri-band? It's not emblazoned all over the description that I could see.

        • +1

Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro is tri-band.

Non pro from GG commercial for $500.

    • +1

I'd suggest having a read of this review of the Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro.

The only difference between the pro and non pro version is a 2.5Gbps wan port on the pro vs 1Gbps on the non pro. Can highly recommend the standard XE75 3 pack from GG commercial for $500. Just moved to them from an Orbi setup previously. So much better. I have a 5 bedroom 2 story house and the entire house is blanketed. I get 900Mbps down upstairs at the opposite end of the house from where the main router is. And the best part is the fast switching between nodes. With my Orbi setup devices would get stuck on nodes, even with fast switching enabled.

  • these are good. I got from ebay for 598.90

  • The standard XE75 is far better value. The 2.5gbps wan port is useless for 99.9% of people.

    • I cant find the non pro version anywhere cheaper

      • it is on Good guys commercial. I was able to prove match at Harvey norman

  • What would be the cheapest/min Deco setup to maximise WiFi speeds on a 1gbps plan?

    • *sorry I meant in terms of models. I've got the S7 but max WiFi is about 300. Wondering if it's worth the upgrade, and what realistic WiFi speeds I'll get. Via Ethernet is fine but I can't run cables around

  • 2 Deco is more than enough.

    • +1

Depends on the size of your house/property.

I have 2 in my main house, one in the pool house and a 4th in the garage (detached)

  • I assume these don’t have basic router function and I would still need a main router? If so, would these work good good with synology rt6600ax or do am I better off with a tp-link router?

    • +1

TP-Link Deco can be configured in two different ways.

      1. Use the Deco as your router and Wi-Fi.
      2. Use a different router with the Deco's as just Wi-Fi access points and the Deco's built-in router gets disabled.

Do you already own the Synology router?

      • +1

Thanks mate. No, I don’t have the Synology yet, is it not recommended?

        • +1

Synology is recommended. If you go with Synology I'd pair it with another Synology router. The struggling with roaming could have been bad Wi-Fi access point placement or a device roaming problem and not the router.

    • +1

I have this router and grabbed the Synology MR2200AC as wired back-haul, works a treat and plays nice with the RT6600ax.

      • I was looking at this option too, but in my research, I read somewhere that the Synology mesh struggles with roaming (moving device from weak point to more closer one).
