gotten a few things from these guys, have to say they are awesome.
very quick delivery, prices are cheap and they send you a piece of chocolate with every order :D

it's a whittakers milk chocolate square (sp?) if the the type of chocolate is the tipping point :P

  • Just like alebox. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from these guys. Most of it has been fantastic, but I got a cheap ($17) after discounts, pair of Stag Chinos from them.

I've worn them about 4-5 times and the pocket has already started falling out on the inside. I can't comment about the other brands though.

Great company. Almost all of my orders have been fantatic. (Most of them involving wool jumpers)

  • Does it have to be 2 of the exact same style?

    • No it does not!

  • Can anyone compare quality of material and cut of the chinos/shorts. Compared to Topman, Dr Denim etc…

  • anyne know what the sizing is like compared to country road or any other brands available in aus? not sure if i should take the risk with pants.

    • Hey there, sizing compared to Country Road ours are a tiny bit smaller - but they're pretty close so I'd suggest going with your country road size, unless you only just fit into theirs then i'd size up. Hope this makes sense!

What size waist are you? I tried Country Road's chinos a month ago, and from memory, they fit me a lot better than the Boston chinos Hallensteins is selling. The Boston chino fits very weirdly for me at the crotch. Maybe I'm used to more close-fitting pants, but these are very skinny from the knee down, and seems out of place with the upper part of the pants. Maybe this is what it feels like to wear carrot pants. There is a lot of space where the pockets are, and this causes them to flare out.

I still need to return mine, so here are some measurements lol

      34" Slim Boston Chinos
      - Waist - 34"
      - Thigh - 12"
      - Knee - 8"
      - Hem - 7.5"

      32" Slim Boston Chinos
      - Waist - 32"
      - Thigh - 11.5"
      - Knee - 7.5"
      - Hem - 7"

      32" Brooklyn Stretch Chinos
      - Waist - 34" (Not sure why this is; tag reads 32)
      - Thigh - 11"
      - Knee - 7"
      - Hem - 6.5"

I'm usually a size 33, so I went for size 32 (as per Hallenstein's sizing guide). I usually fit into pants labeled "slim", but I couldn't fit into either of the 32s. Both were too tight around the calves. Frankly, I'm not sure how anyone with calves could fit into these chinos. I could fit into the 34s, but they were taut around my calves. Aside from the issues mentioned above, the waist was also too large, as was expected.

Buying pants online is annoying. Good luck!

      • amazing. thank you. yeah buying pants online is an aboslute nightmare. plus i have large thighs and calves from soccer. gonna skip this i think.

  • If the size range and pictures of the models is anything to go by, our NZ neighbours do not have the same dietary and health challenges as us Aussie males!

    • Are you saying we're fatter?

I think he was saying that aussies can't play rugby.

  • skinny fit only.

    • and slim fit

    • Which is less tight?

      Skinny or Slim

      • slim a bit looser… it's still fairly tight but not up-against-your-skin-like-tights tight

  • Thanks for posting this @lewl, I've been hanging out for a pair of chinos this whole year but can't get my head around the price for them here locally. Now I've got two!

I will post back regarding the fit size, as I know that with some chinos they encourage you to buy a size or two down from what you normally would by, here there was no mention and I'm normally a 33 so I had to go with 34. If not the returns/exchange policy seems pretty straight forward.

Failing that, I snared a return flight to NZ in January courtesy of Air NZ/Virgin Deal; so i'll return it instore hehehe

If you check their sizing guide, they recommend 33 inch waists to go with 32s. The 34s were too large in the waist for me. Hope it works out though!

      • Thanks thanks for that, I was too eager and didn't read that. Fingers crossed otherwise I'll have to return em! Are they comfy?

        • If you take a look at my post above, I had some issues. Maybe I'm just not used to the way they fit, but I'll be returning mine. The 34 Boston chinos were about an inch too much in the waist which makes sense, and I couldn't fit into the 32 anyway.

        • I got mine today, what I failed to mention was I'm a regular 34 but after alot of time and effort I've managed to squeeze my way down into 33 jeans (no belt lol). I ordered Thursday and received them this morning, gave em a quick try on, both waists seem perfect. The fit is great.

My only concern is that the Detroit Chino's with the elastic cuff, are a bit loose on my calves. Maybe I should be more dedicated on legs day! lol. But the Brooklyn stretch chino's fit like a c*** in a sock.

          Big thanks to OP.
