Kenwood Classic Chef Stand Mixer KM336 - White $221 + Delivery @ The Good Guys Commercial (Membership Required)

600

Cheapest price for a Kenwood mixer in years, as far as I am aware.
$68 cheaper than this popular deal, which was the lowest price posted here before now.
Per that deal, this was $449 at Big W earlier this year.

Works out cheaper than the KitchenAid mixers from this deal earlier today. Kenwood is considered by some to be more reliable but more expensive and doesn't look as nice, although in this case it's much cheaper instead.

Currently $299 via The Good Guys.
Other than appearance and 800W motor vs 1000W motor, appears to be the same as kvc3100w which is $318 via a 'knockout sale' on The Good Guys

Also worth checking out the Kenwood Food Processor Attachment for Kenwood Mixers at $110 via The Good Guys Commercial ($229 at The Good Guys). Unlike the previous two models, this is NOT only compatible with the Cooking Chef and Chef Major Titanium, and will work with this model.
Previously, the food processor attachments only worked with these two models, and were the only two attachments restricted to these models (due to the medium power outlet on the machine) but it looks like these are being discontinued, so this cheaper Kenwood is now compatible with all Kenwood attachments.
I purchased both today, and can confirm they work together.

Edit: Party over, TGGC has removed it from their site. You may be able to directly request a quote from TGGC and get a similar price.

Curious to know if this will fit the accessories from a 20-year-old equivalent… this would be a very worthwhile upgrade from one that's nearly worn out the gearbox!

    • +3

Depends on your model, but if it's a KM Chef (check underneath on the label plate) they should mostly be compatible with this.

Could be worth fixing yours though, modern Chef mixers "aren't what they used to be", and people comparing them to their grandmother's 50 year old mixer are often quickly disappointed.

    • From the brief reading I've done, I believe it can. Or there is a converter for it that you can purchase from Kenwood that like $20.

    • Should do, they've been using the same connections for at least a couple of decades, with the exception of the medium speed which is used on only 2 models for 1 accessory and now that plug is being discontinued and the new version of the accessory works via the high speed connection afaik.

    • I bought this last year to replace a vintage 70's A701. All my original attachments still fit except for the low speed ones that go on the end of the head. I think I can make them fit with some modification but haven't tried yet.
I'm so impressed they did this, it is almost unheard of for a brand to keep compatibilty for accessories 50 years old. Apple need to take note.

      • Heads up, Kenwood sells official adapters for bar to twist and vice versa.

Yep, that means they even make an adapter for people to use the new accessories on machines nearly half a century old.

  • Put the model in the title surely?

    • Good point. I was 'inspired' by this deal by @paddywide that didn't have it, as it has the model name and is tagged appropriately.

Currently $299 via The Good Guys(thegoodguys.com.au).

What does this mean? What is the model?
Please proof read this entire post. 100w for a mixer can't be right.

    • +4

If only there were enough details provided in the entire post (such as the comparative model number kvc3100w) to work out the OP was simply missing a single digit and perhaps meant 1000w.. if only.

      • Yep, that was it. Fixed now.

          Mixer cheap.

          Mixer good.

          Buy mixer.

          Gimme gum gum.

      What a shame lol

Look at Mr OzExploit right here. Maybe you could've got a bargain for your wife had you not been so greedy to get it for free…

    • +2

Listen here bucko, if I had a clam everytime I came across fools like you I wouldn't have to search this site for bargains

    • are you for real or just a troll

  • Note they removed the handle from the bowl on this cheaper model. Surprisingly annoying but not a deal breaker.

    • I believe you can still purchase it as an accessory from Kenwood.

I've got one of these for my mom for her birthday two weeks ago. Bloody brilliant mixer. I paid $242 in store @ TGG. Was very reluctant to shop there (too many bad experience). However, for one I actually dealt with a young lady who was really helpful and couldn't do enough to help me with my purchase.

  • Forgive my ignorance, what makes this a good mixer ie what should someone look for in a mixer?

    • Good point. People on here only look at money saving and buy based on that. It's Moneyball without looking at anything beyond price.

      • +1

I agree, it's very common. In this case, this model is identical to the $399 RRP kvc3100w other than appearance and 200W fewer, and this 'grade' Kenwood has been the same in terms of features, function and performance for literally decades.

This deal won't be as popular as the KitchenAid though, because it's a good price, and not just '50% OFF!'

    • +1

Better get some google nests for $15 just because

    • +3

It's belt driven, as opposed to gear driven (like the KitchenAid) so if doing tougher stuff like dough, if it 'skips', it's much less likely to result in permanent damage.

It's very powerful and fast, the mixer actually gets the side of the bowl for the most part, whereas the KitchenAid mixer I used definitely did not.

It's compatible with accessories from a couple of decades ago, so you can buy the accessories second hand for cheap and they'll just work.

Everything is easy to clean and dishwasher safe, including most accessories. The food processor attachment I linked at the bottom of the post has only 1 part that isn't, and that part isn't exposed to food.

It's not likely to 'jump' off the counter, due to the shape and weight.

      Good mix of speed options.

      Good build quality.

Kenwood is mostly the same for each model, other than size, build material (some use aluminium, others stainless steel. Accessories use the same material between models, so there's no real-world difference) and some models having extra features (such as built-in scales) so it's pretty safe to compare models instead of brands. Here's one comparison, for KitchenAid vs Kenwood.

    • More powerful than KitchenAids as a general rule of thumb (although mine is about 15 years old now) so if you're into making bread or things that require more stiff dough (like gingerbread), they're much better as KitchenAids are underpowered for what they are.

  • Can you only sign up to TGG commercial with an ABN?

    • +1

No need for an ABN, there's many ways to join, here's the wiki page on how to do exactly that.

  • Hey op just to confirm

If we buy the kenwood mixer
And also buy the food processor attachments

We can put the attachments ontop the mixer like in the photo and use it as a food processor to chop herbs and stuff?

    • +1

Yep! Used it like that for dinner tonight, chopping and slicing carrot, capsicum and onion.

      • Cool cool! Thanks

  • +3

Well deserved +1 for writeup and research, thanks

  • +1

Wanted one, realised that I actually qualify for TGG Commercial. Took 24hr for them to confirm, just bought the mixer now

Thanks so much for this deal. Gonna make lots of burger buns and pizza dough now :)

    • Hope you enjoy! I'm loving it :)

  • Will TGG price match TGGC?

If you order from TGGC do you pick up from TGG or is it only delivery?

    • Haven't had luck getting them to price match previously, but could differ by store.

Click and collect is available and is what I did, otherwise I think it was $9 delivery.

      • +1

        Thanks

I tried this morning on their chat and they said no. I’ll try in store later

  • +1

Showing as $299 for me, I have just signed up for commercial do I need to wait for prices to correct?

Edit - Disregard, cleared cookies and it all updated!

  • OH no it has gone up to $228 now
