601

Thanks to Dimmies for his post here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823631

Went to my local to check out and found it for $12.50! Still plenty left in the Tool section.

Thought I'd make a new post to bring back recognition due to the original posts age.

  • Welp, was very happy I paid $20 but now not so much

I paid $50. Did the job I needed it to do.

May as well give it away

  • not on website, lower wattage one for $43

  • part number?

  • Lots of 12v ozito on clearance. I spoke with someone in the toolshop. Aparently they are dropping the 12v line. These are skin only so you will need to source batteries. My local was out of stock on batteries.

One posted is corded rather than cordless.

    • There is, but the battery and charger are 35 bucks and the battery is tiny. I can't see it being very useful for some of the tools, such as the recipe saw and the hammer drill, so you probably want two. And by the time you are that far in, it's not so much of a bargain

    SOLD OUT AT STORE

  • Even $49 isn't a bad price.

  • If a deal (such as this) is discovered at a specific Bunnings store, is it transferrable to other Bunnings stores, or does it remain exclusive to that particular store?

    • General is specific to the store.

  • I’d bought it and returned, got a Bosch green instead and it worked flawlessly. What didn’t work for me was the ability to trim off the 1~2mm where I really needed it to (because I’m prone to over-buffering when cutting: can’t do shit when you’d cut it too short). The blade has way too much room to move around which made it slide right off. Not worth it unless you plan on flipping it to make a quick buck. If you are after ‘destruction mode’, get a recip saw.

      Useful review, thanks

    • Useful review, but I personally don't believe it deserves a downvote as a jigsaw is not the right tool for trimming off a couple mms. Even with the Bosch it would be a nightmare to get it right. You should be using a planer (if it's a straight edge) or a sander.

      • While it might not be the right tool according to you, it was easily handled by the Bosch. So would you then call the Bosch jigsaw performed beyond expectations? If you are happy to use a planer or a sander to trim a few mm of the edge off a 20mm plywood, that’s great, hats off to you. Doesn’t cut it for me.

All I'm saying is that the deal doesn't deserve a downvote just because Bosch (which is a more expensive tool) turned out to be better.

          • @bio: Agree this is a great deal for occasional handyman/woman work.

          • @bio: We are disagreeing on what fundamentally is considered a deal here. For me it’s a deal if the value of the good and/or services exceed the cost, a very good one if I could make a profit somehow. In this instance, it is the opposite from my experience because it costs extra time and effort to return junk. Can still be a deal for someone, of course. It’s an expression of personal opinion, is it not? It’s not like I’m actively trying to convert people to the Bosch church or something, I was simply sharing my personal experience.

  • Plenty of stock at some stores, however the price at each is obviously arbitrary
