  • OZBARGAINED!

  • mine says they shipped

    • +1

LOL how could they have shipping it in under 10 mins!

      • South Korea they do.
I was in Seoul in 2022 and wanted some shoes that the shops had sold out.
My daughter who lived there looked on line about 8pm and ordered them telling me they will come tonight as that’s normal here.
She got home at 1145pm and rang me telling me they had been delivered.

In Australia 3 days is considered quick.

    • +2

They shipped faster than the post lasted on OzB

I second this sentiment - sometimes presented here as a joke, sometimes as something frustrating.

It might have been a mistake, but such mistakes happen pretty often, right? Like, why wouldn't some sales manager, junior marketing ninja or any social media engineer publish such a "mistake" and just wait for people to catch? It attracts attention to other products, generates traffic on the website and makes the store gain hundreds of new subscribers.

All legit, because it looks like an honest mistake and offering an actual product and taking money for it is apparently not binding in any way to the seller.

Seems either such "mistakes" happen or lots of the retailers use overcomplicated applications/procedures and untrained/sloppy staff. Either way it's such poor performance on the retailer's side.

    • and taking money for it is apparently not binding in any way to the seller.

It is binding and how a contract is formed (offer/acceptance)

However in that contract are T&C's which you/nobody reads that allows the seller to cancel the contract in the event of a mistake, by paying you are entering a contract accepting these T&Cs

      • I understand that and I find it dodgy as, because T&Cs in case of such a standard act of selling-buying shouldn't be allowed as long as it's a regular retailer. (That's my opinion and I believe it might be the law in some countries).

You can't gamble wherever you want, you can't spank your kids, you can't steal others' property, even if there are any arbitrary T&Cs established.

So how a simple thing like selling-buying can have any sneaky rules added? "Here is a product, I'm promising to deliver it to you, so give me your money and I'll see if I keep the promise."

        • +1

T&Cs in case of such a standard act of selling-buying shouldn't be allowed as long as it's a regular retailer.

But it doesn't even need to be in there T&C's as Australian consumer law is straightforward that businesses are not legally obliged to sell a product at a mistakenly advertised price.

You can't gamble wherever you want,

          Because gambling is legally restricted

          you can't spank your kids

          Legally you can

          you can't steal others' property

Because there are laws and penalties in place to stop this.

even if there are any arbitrary T&Cs established.

I referenced T&C's before because it's easier, however even if it isn't mentioned in the contract of sale Australian consumer law does not force a business to accept an offer where there is a genuine mistake in their pricing.

So how a simple thing like selling-buying can have any sneaky rules added? "Here is a product, I'm promising to deliver it to you, so give me your money and I'll see if I keep the promise."

It goes both ways and many business allow you to freely cancel your part of the contact.

You can buy something/enter a contract and then go back to the store and say "hey even though we have a contract and I agreed to purchase this, I have changed my mind and don't want it anymore, there's nothing wrong with it and you held up your end of the deal by giving me exactly what I wanted, I just don't want it anymore so give me my money back"

Some stores go even further and you can even say "hey I have worn/used the item and I still don't want. I know you can't sell it in the same condition I purchased it in, and you might even need to throw it away/donate it but I still want my money back"

          • @spaceflight:

But it doesn't even need to be in there T&C's as Australian consumer law is straightforward that businesses are not legally obliged to sell a product at a mistakenly advertised price.

Exactly what I mean. This can be exploited, like I described in my first comment. It enables scams and sloppy conduct, like in here.

            Thanks.

            • @pizzaguy:

It enables scams and sloppy conduct

No it doesn't because ACL only covers businesses in the event of mistake.

If stores are doing it to scam people/drive traffic etc then that's dealt with under different provisions of the ACL and not legal.

              • @spaceflight: I already feel better that theft and murder is not legal, and we're all covered by the law here.

                • @pizzaguy: I also feel better knowing there are laws in place that prevent stores potentially losing substantial amounts of money by being forced to honour orders where there is a genuine mistake in the pricing.

That could be devastating for small businesses and would only add costs to larger stores that we'd all pay for.

                  • +1

@spaceflight: Yeah, could be devastating for small sellers (who indeed should be protected even when in doubt), yet huge companies waste lots of people's time and effort, and I just can't not see how many "price errors" we get in here.

I watch an overseas OzB equivalent, in a larger country, with larger traffic on the website. I honestly can't recall a price error from a local store being posted there and it's surely not because the users are considerate and just. I looked up the local laws and, like in Aus, if the price seems an obvious mistake, the order doesn't have to be fulfilled. But! if the offer is marked as any sort of specials - like in the case of this deal - and the customer has received an order confirmation (which can be done after taking the money), it has to fulfilled; if the seller can't fulfill, they may need to reimburse the customer after they've purchased form a different source.

My point of this anecdotal example is: I wish people weren't as cunning or sloppy conveying their businessas eg. at Mountain Designs, so we can trust the sellers, in general, giving them our money and personal info.

  • Order Refunded !!!

Some price errors are understandable but this one makes no sense how it could be mistyped. Genuinely curious if this is a new corporate strategy to have people sign up as members when they had no intention of fulfilling any orders. Edit: have just seen the same sentiment posted before me too

  • While I missed the fun on this one, this polar fleece jumper is my favourite by far (I have a couple).

  • +1

I am genuinely curious how people come across deals like this. Is it an api or more to do with luck

    • I was looking for a new full zip mens jumper and it came up in the google shopping recommendations. I saw it for $0.01 so i clivked on it and got one then posted it here ;)

      • Any cancellation email yet?

        • Not for me yet

          • @Gordon84: May the odds forever be in your favour :)

  • +1

They are nice jackets. Had mine now for well over 8 years and gets a wear most weeks as well as my goto holiday jacket with all the zipped pockets

  • Now I have to pay for all your jackets, been looking for one at least 2 weeks now.. 😂

  • Maybe when things go out of stock the price should go to $1000 not 10c

I think some Amazon stores do this.

  • Someone is gonna get fired

    • +2

For 100s of new subscribers and getting all the traffic?

I don't think so. Someone's going to get a bonus.

      • Subscribers who will cancel and traffic interested in buying a 1c item.
You overestimate the realistic financial value of web traffic to regular shopping sites.

        • You are going to cancel, and you didn't look at other items. You, at the moment, are 1 of 3453 clicks.

You might be assuming that everyone is like you.

    • +1

You make one relatively minor mistake (given they just can cancel all the orders) and you get fired? Thought that only happens in movies to drive the protagonist towards his destined and more successful career

  • i am only 163cm tall. think the small size would fit me?

  • not even worth $10

  • Anyone with a non cancelled order for any email or shipping updates?

    • +1

      My order is still processing

  • Shipped finally…

    • damn mines still processing

      • Same,. still no update since order email confirmation

        • I got in really early and just ordered just one. Wasn't expecting it to go through so I'm pleasantly surprised.

  • Damn just got mine refunded! Shouldnt have posted the deal on oz bargain. Kidding glad a couple of people got onto it.

    • just got mine refunded!

      same.

  • Just got cancelled

  • Just got a $20 voucher as an apology check your emails
