These things are awesome.. I have had one for 4 years now except of the things already mentioned..will not pull the roots off of a smaller weed, the ground needs to be soft, pulls out a lot of soil and grass along with it and I shall add another one this thing is pretty expensive for what it is .. the one issue I had with it was the weed, the root with the massive clump of soil sticking to it had to be dislodged manually.. I have seen the Chinese versions on Ali for 8 to around 20 dollars .. they seem to have added a hand operated release for the jaws.. this advert has a video but pretty much everyone is selling them at cheaper prices.. not promoting the product since I do not have it and build quality looks dodgy but I have always felt this is a great tool and should be cheaper..

    • That one looks great in use. Not sure about the durability though. Just a shame shipping is double the price of the item.. 😅

Not too long ago, manufacturers were offering 3 years warranty on $30k vehicles. 25 year warranty on a $60 hand tool is amazing

    • Not too long ago new vehicles with warranty could be had for $30k and houses for $400k .. I bought this for less than $ 50 I am sure .you need to push your expectations a tad higher ..this not amazing

      • +2

I feel they are more amazed by the 25 year warranty, not the price.

    • Let's see how your hand tool likes being pushed up and down 6000 times per minute!!! ;)

  • Got the cyclone one back in Oct for $38.9, it's heavier but has life time warranty.

Rarely use weed extractors nowdays, just 1 spray of Kamba (https://www.bunnings.com.au/nufarm-5l-kamba-m-selective-herb…) for thr entire lawan once a year during spring. Keeps em well under control.

    • +2

      Paspalum laughs at Kamba-M

      • +2

Ah yeah, the nut grass, metsulfuron for that (ebay is a good source).

    • Not suitable for buffalo :(

    • Is Kamba-M safe on Zoysia lawn?

    • +1

Unfortunately our neighbours bees love the clover too much for us to consider broadleaf sprays.

It's taken a few seasons but we've finally got the burr medic under control by hand weeding, and I don't mind the odd dandelion and catsear, we just now before they go to seed.

Can confirm that Kamba M works well on cape weed though, gotta get it when it's young. For a mammal and aquatic life friendly product, look into Metsulfuron Methyl, though it is soil active and can affect some perennial grasses.

  • Game changer for weeding. takes it all, roots even.

This was at one point $90+ and out of stock.

Ended up getting the Hoselink one for $55 delivered, which is now $37 delivered: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1073964051

    • Isn’t the Fiskars better value with 25 years warranty?

      • +1

It was out of stock when I needed it.

  • Shanks!

  • Works on winter grass?

    Unresolved Reports
    1 for Sold Out

    It's most certainly not OOS

  • Seen plenty of these at the front when I visited Bunning yesterday. They could make it battery one for their RRP.

  • Is this only for weeds in your lawn or would it be still good for pulling weeds out of garden beds?

    • +5

It detects if it's being used in a garden bed and refuses to work.

      /S

  • What a saving wow my eyes can't believe it :)

These are great quality and so easy to use. I don't have heaps of muscle and my right hip is really damaged and this doesn't hurt me, or exhaust me. I'm also very clumsy and it's survived 3 house moves, plenty of accidental rock / brick grabs and jumps.

  • Bought for that 25yrs warranty. Thanks

  • Bought, thanks OP

good to carry a bucket of soil or compost mix with u, after you pull out a clump of weed, it leaves a divot in it's place, i backfill it as the final step.

just picked one up from Bunnings today, the item itself feels sturdy and very high quality, and a bargain with 25 years warranty. nice one OP

  • I don't get this tool, isn't there particular feed you can throw on the grass that kills certain weeds?

  • My back and knees thank you OP!

  • I managed to get the last one in Waurn Ponds, Victoria. Thanks OP

  • Damm…I saw that Mitre10 deal online and purchased it straight away. Forgot bunnings has price beat policy.

    such a rip off … a metal piece less then 1m long … $58 … !!!! it's bargain when it comes down $10….not before… in my opinion.. !

    • +1

Feel free to make one and sell it for $10. I will be the first one to buy it.

      • Well, assuming it's got a 25-year warranty that you think is worth the paper it's written on, of course…

        • Apprently it is legit, there are many reviews that indicate that they honour the warranty. They have been around since 1649.

          • -2

@bio: LoL past performance is not the reflection of future performance.. !

            • -1

@SydBoy: Is that what she said?

          • @bio: The $10 one?

          • @bio:

They have been around since 1649

You watch, they'll go bust in 2048 just as mine breaks with a year left on the warranty!

      • -1

I had around 5 of the weed puller from Bunnings for $5 each 2 years ago…. ! Obviously it was on clearance and their home brand I think… !

There is no science or electronic chip required to make one … So it is rip off at this price…!

  • +1

Decided to grab this one over others based purely on warranty.
None on shelf at Frankston, so thought I'd missed out… Until I found the 30,40, maybe 50 sitting in between aisles in a stack (still marked at full price).

Not a bad unit. Spent an hour or so on my Santa Ana just then.
Definitely grabs the weeds by the roots… along with a chunk of grass.
But just spent a little extra time teasing the weeds from the grass and put it back in.
    A week's time and she'll be good!!!

  • +1

Woolies also selling this kind of tool for $36

  • Have mine for 4 years.

After reading all of the negs on the Fiskars breaking often, I decided to go with this one. It works great and feels more substantial than the Fiskars, imho. I knock the pulled weeds from the tool with my foot as I go and then rake the area afterwards. You can push softly/more shallow if you have a weed that has more surface roots so you don't pull out plugs of buffalo as you go. I think it's a lot sturdier, too. Wood & steel, no fancy plastic bits to snap.

    FYI

    • Damn didn't see this Cyclone in the aisle; it looks way stronger, a simple all metal design with less parts to break.
If the Fiskars snaps gonna change it for one of these.

    • I've had the cyclone one for a while. Agree it's very sturdy and easy to use, except I find it can get annoying having to manually remove the extracted weed from the prongs every time. I usually use a stick or something. I got the Fiskars in this deal, and so far it's a lot easier with the ability to shoot the extracted weed. I'm sure there's still use cases for both tools.

  • Great price.
Bought mine in Oct for $80 via Amazon.

  • Hey guys, does the button on the handle actually do anything? If I shake the tool the weed release will come down. Is mine defective?

    • +1

Button??? There's just a slide puller half way down (in orange) that you push / slide down to eject the weed.

Edit. I see what you mean now. No, the black round bit, that looks like a button, is just there to keep the orange handle part from falling off.

  • How do you get a replacement through warranty? Is it through Fiskars or Bunnings?

    • Retailers carry the warranties.
