And our immigration takes our facial too. It about how trustworthy the government is….

I think Five Eyes countries have agreements to share all their information with the head honcho.

      • Philippines too

      • UAE (Dubai) too. I think when I did it (years ago) it was part of signing up for faster SmartPassport passage thru customs.

      • Anyone confirm this and is this for entry or transfers or both?

      rumour

    • +2

Yes. Fingerprint and face scan at Chinese Airport, USA Airport, Malaysia Airport, etc… many airports now.

Heck, Singapore Airport now wants your Email address,
even when getting the Visa on-arrival at the airport,
and they send the Visa to your Email address.

        face scan

Makes more sense than woolies doing it when I buy my groceries

        • Shopping centres have had cameras for decades

        • Your face is your passport

  • Doesn't appear like you can get these prices booking directly with Air China

Hard to even know when their website is so horrible, worst airline website I have seen.

  • These are the cheapest fares to Europe we have seen in the last 4 years!

scoot was giving us $500-600 fares for awhile there.

  • Wow!
Cheaper than renting the same time in Melbourne?

  • Has anyone travelled with an infant on Air China? If so, reviews?

    • from food/comfort perspective average at best and that's being generous but if your goal is to get A-B safety wise they are pretty decent. until the CE airlines crash I think the major chinese airlines had been accident free for decades

      • Thank you. I had pressumed the comfort would be a far cry from Emirates or the like, but at these prices, it might just be bareable.

  • Just a heads up everyone we flew with China 10 years ago and will never do it again. They scan your iris and fingerprints when they "process" you and we had to be processed twice in two cities despite being only advised by one.
I feel like they are just trying to gather everyones data. Would avoid!

You must not travel much because heaps of countries are doing the same.

Thats why OP said 10 years ago lmao.

Can we have just one China-related deal without bigoted comments?

    • Yes we can:

"Australia see flux of labour supply to "Entertainment" industry amid CCP relax their control on people getting out of China."

I am waiting for this deal everyday🤣🤣

    Here's are my thoughts as a card-carrying entitled(not) white anglo male -

    1. Get over the Chinese border security paranoia. You're in danger of something every time you get up in the morning.
    2. I've been on Air China at least a dozen times over the last decade or so and found it to be punctual and comfortable with very agreeable crew.
    3. Food is variable, like most airlines (incl. Flying Kanga) but generally ok.
    4. When we travelled with a baby they were great. (Bulkhead with cot recommended) Crew very helpful.
    5. Entertainment options and connectivity has improved vastly over time.
    6. Beijing Airport can be a bit of a drag if you're stuck there. Make sure you keep your devices charged.

This price is insane. If you have the inclination, time and resources - do yourself a favour. Live life.

    Just sayin'

  • Is China Air using a Chinese built aircraft?
I know they use their own built aircraft for domestic routes.

    • A few locally manufactured jets on regional routes. International flights have Airbus and Boeing.

    • Not yet, Chinese-made wide-body aircraft is a few years away still.

  • Return flight to Rome only $905? Great deal, the only downside is the 8hours layover at the airport, but still ok
